Important When using Nitrogen (N2) , the inlet labels on the back panels
of each unit must be covered by the N2labels included in this kit. Refer to
the illustrations showing the back panels. s

Application

1. Turn the incubator off and disconnect it from the power source.
2. Remove the 4 screws from top panel of the unit. Set panel aside.
3. Disconnect vinyl tubing from black hose fitting on the back of the unit
identified as CO2 Inlet #1 Tank (Cover this label if using N2). Refer to
Figure 1. The other end of this hose is connected to a HEPA filter.
4. Remove black hose fitting referenced above and black plastic hole plug
from back of unit. The plugged hole is identified as CO2 Inlet #2
Tank (Cover label with new one if using N2.)
5. Install the manifold provided in this kit (Figure 2). Secure with #8-32
x 3/8” screw provided.
6. Connect vinyl hose from solenoid located in center of unit’s back wall
(Figure 2). Then connect the Gas Guard wiring harness as shown.
Refer to the wiring color identifications.
7. Install and secure the top panel with the 4 screws removed previously.
8. Return the unit to service. See the incubator operating manual.

1. Turn the incubator off and disconnect it from the power source.
2. Remove the 3 screws from the top panel and set the panel aside.
3. Disconnect vinyl tubing from black hose fitting on the back of the
unit identified as CO2 Inlet #1 Tank (Cover this label if using N2).
See Figure 3. The other end of this hose is connected to a HEPA filter.
4. Remove black hose fitting referenced above and black plastic hole plug
from the back of the unit, left side.
5. Install manifold provided in this kit. Refer to Figure 4. Secure with
#8-32 x 3/8” screw provided.
6. Connect vinyl hose from solenoid located in the center of the control
center (Figure 4).

7. Connect the Gas Guard wiring harness as shown. Refer to the wiring
color identifications.
8. Install and secure the top panel with the 3 screws removed previously.
9. Verify the inlet labels on the back of the unit. See Figure 3 when
referring to left and right instructions. A standard unit will have a
single label above the hole on the right, where the hose fitting was
removed (see Step 3 & 4). The label reads ‘#1 CO2 INLET’.
If using CO2with the Gas Guard kit, place the provided ‘#2 CO2
INLET’ label above the hole on the left side. If using N2on the Gas
Guard kit, cover the ‘#1 CO2 INLET’ label with the ‘#1 N2 INLET’
label. Place the ‘#2 N2 INLET’ label above the hole on the left.
10. Return the unit to service. See the incubator operating manual.
1. Turn the unit off and disconnect it from the power source.
2. Open the doors and remove the two screws securing the electronics tray
(Figure 5).
3. Remove the electrical heater wiring connector on
the top of the inner door hinge by carefully
prying up the black strain relief fitting (Figure 6).
The connector is made of yellow rubber which is
visible when the strain relief is moved upward as
shown.
4. Grasp the upper portion of the yellow connector
and pull it up and out of the hinge socket.
5. Remove all wiring connectors and vinyl tubing from the back of the
electronics drawer.

6. Slide the electronics tray outward until the main microprocessor board
is accessible.
7. Unplug the electrical connectors along the right side of the micro
board. Cut the tie wrap securing the clamp-on ferrite and open it to
release the wire cable. Refer to Figure 7 below.
8. Continue to slide the tray outward until the pass-through port on the
bottom of the tray is accessible (Figure 8). The pass-through port is
identified by a black arrow.
Caution The tray is unstable at this point. Support it at all times. s
9. Trace the vinyl tubes from the port to their terminations and
disconnect them. Be careful to not break the tubing connectors while
opening the white plastic tubing clamps.

10. Remove the electronics tray completely from the incubator. The wiring
cable must be fed through the pass-through port on the right rear
corner of the tray.
11. Disconnect the vinyl tubing from the black plastic hose fitting on the
back of the tray identified as CO2 Inlet #1 Tank (Cover this label if
using N2). Refer to Figure 9. The other end of this hose is connected to
a HEPA filter.
12. Remove the plastic hose fitting referenced above and the black plastic
hole plug from the back of the tray. The plugged hole is identified as
CO2 Inlet #2 Tank (cover this label if using N2).
13. Install the manifold provided in the Gas Guard kit (Figure 10). Secure
in place with #8-32 x 3/8” screw provided.
14. Connect the vinyl hose from the top solenoid located in the middle of
the tray to the brass fitting on the back of the manifold.
15. Install the new black inlet fitting, included with this kit, into the back
of the tray.
16. Connect the second vinyl hose from the bottom solenoid located in the
middle of the tray to the new inlet fitting.

17. Connect the Gas Guard wiring harness as shown. Refer to the wiring
color identifications (COM, NO) as shown in Figure 11.

18. Re-install the electronics tray far enough into the incubator to connect
the remaining vinyl hose removed earlier.
Caution In this position, the tray is unstable. Support it at all times. s
19. Feed the wiring cable through the pass-through in the right rear corner
of the tray and push the tray in far enough to connect the cable to the
micro board connectors. Also, install the clamp-on ferrite and secure
with a tie-wrap.
20. Route the door heater cable through the notch in the front of the tray
(Figure 12) and push the tray into place. Secure with two screws
removed earlier (arrows).
21. Insert the door heater connector into the hinge socket and secure with
the strain relief. Snap it into place without any of the yellow connector
showing.
22. Return the unit to service. Refer to the incubator operating manual.

9QI Gas Guard System
1. Turn the unit off and disconnect it from the power source.
2. Remove the 5 screws from the front of the top cover. Lift and pull
outward. Set aside.
3. Referring to Figure 13 on the following page, cut the included vinyl
tubing to the lengths specified.
4. Install the filter between the two lengths of tubing.
5. Locate the length of tubing with an installed filter already in the
electronics drawer. Measure 4.375 inches after the filter (closer to the
front of the incubator) and cut the tubing.
6. Attach the gas guard assembly where indicated and secure with the #8-
32 x 3/8 screw.
7. Connect the tubing cut in Step 5 to the gas guard assembly as shown.
8. Attach the other side of this cut tubing to the opposite side of the gas
guard assembly. See Figure 13 on the following page.
9. Install 1/4 x 1/4 bulkhead fitting into existing hole in back panel. This
becomes CO2 Inlet #2.
10. Connect the new tubing and filter between the gas guard assembly and
CO2Inlet #2. Install the snapper clamp.
11. Locate the circuit board connection indicated in Figure 13. Assemble
the wire harness between the gas guard assembly and the circuit board.
Note the NO and COM configurations.
12. Assembly is complete. Return the unit to service. Refer to the
incubator operating manual.
