1. Introduction

2. Characteristics
The air walker consists of a splint in the shape of a shoe which is made of PVC and two
collateral, stabilizing splints with hinged ROM system enabling angle adjustment, and of
pneumatic stabilization. The orthosis is equipped with material inner liner which is air
permeable and removes excessive heat and moisture perfectly. The walker is equipped with
system of circumferential straps which enable individual adjustment of stabilization force
and with profiled anti-sliding sole which facilitates the patient possibly physiological gait.
3. Application
The walker is used in post-traumatic and post-operative rehabilitation process in order to
limit the range of mobility in ankle joint and to improve functional activities. The orthosis
stabilizes the foot and the shin in plantarflexion or ankle joint flexion position in post-
traumatic injuries in the area of foot and shin.
Indications for use:
•post-operative treatment
•twist and dislocation of ankle joint
•Achilles tendon rupture
•as an alternative for plaster cast immobilization
•fractures in the area of foot, upper and lower ankle joint
