ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
The KWBMW1 installaon kit allows for the retenon of the vehicle’s steering wheel controls and maintains
the original aesthec of the interior when installing a new car stereo. The KWBMW1 gives you everything
you need for a complete install in one box. The components of this kit are compable for the BMW 1 Series
(E81/82/87/88) (2007-2013) with non-amplied BMW Business Professional stereos. The wiring harness and
interface will retain the steering wheel controls, factory phone buons, as well as retaining parking sensor audio
and warning tones (i.e. oil level, seat belt, door open). Supplied with a Quadlock connector.
NB: this installaon kit is for vehicles without navigaon or iDrive as standard. Vehicles must have automac
A/C panel.

FITTING GUIDE
1. Use a bojo tool to pry away and unclip the middle trim panel above the main radio.
1. Open the passenger side door and proceed to pull away the door trim from the pillar.

2. Using a set of panel removal tools, begin to pry away the pillar casing.
4. The DAB antenna not only has a self adhesive backing, but also features a black earth sheet. When plac-
ing the DAB antenna, the earth sheet MUST be placed onto the metal part of the pillar. The antenna itself
must be located roughly 15cm from the top of the windscreen.
Note: this antenna must not be placed atop any kind of heang elements, this will interfere with the
antenna’s signal.
5. Once happy with the placement, take the 3m of wiring extension and feed it down through to the
stereo’s opening. With the wiring adjusted to the appropriate length, feel free to re-install the glovebox.
3. The glovebox will need to be dropped down to route the antennas wiring. To do this you will need to
unclip the hydraulic arm and push both sides of the glovebox inwards. Then all that is needed is to let the
glovebox fall open.
2. Using the bojo tool again, pry away the plasc panel holding the air controls & buon panel. Once out,
proceed to disconnect any/all wiring from behind.
3. With the air control panel removed, it will reveal 2x screws that will need to be undone to free the main
radio. Once free, pull out of the dashboard and disconnect all the wiring.
DASH MODIFICATION
Some plascs will need to be cut and removed from the dashboard to make space for the new car stereo.
Measure where the stereo will sit and take due care when modifying the vehicle. TopVehicleTech always promote the
help of professional installers. TopVehicleTech will not be held responsible for any damage to the vehicle.
FASCIA PLATE SET-UP
1. Take the OEM air con panel and begin to unclip the automac air con unit, this can go directly into the
new fascia.
2. Undo the 5x screws that surround the back casing of the buon panel and remove the PCB board. Once
out, gently disconnect the white connector. Re-connect the white connector found on the replacement
ribbon extension cable which comes with the kit.
3. Proceed to mount the PCB with buon front/back to the new fascia panel. Connect the black connector
on the lead to the air condioning panel and route the wiring neatly to the side.

5. When happy with the alignment, and the “Stereo Installaon” process is complete, screw the stereo
into the dashboard using the pre-exisng screws. Then simply install the fascia on top.
8. Aach the addional wiring on the harness to the back of the stereo:
Pink - Speed Pulse Pink/Black - Mute Purple - Reverse Gear Green - Park Brake
9. When all the above wires (and any addional accessories) have been connected, nally make the
connecons between the stereo and the vehicles pre-exisng power/stalk connectors.
3. Aach the 12-pin connector from steering wheel harness to the speaker interface box.
2. Connect the bullet connector from the stereo patch lead to the ‘steering wheel remote input’ on the
back of the new stereo.
6. Connect the DAB antenna’s SMB connector to the back of the new stereo.
7. Aach the antenna adapter to the vehicles pre-exisng connecon and the back of new stereo.
1. Take the steering wheel control interface in hand and connect both the 12-way stereo patch lead and
the 14-way steering wheel harness connectors to the corresponding sides.
4. On the opposite side of the speaker interface box will be two 2-pin ports. Connect the 2-pin connector
from the speaker box into the right port (when face up).
5. Connect the yellow 12V permanent wire to a source of 12 volt i.e. the fuse board or direct to baery.
4. Aach the brackets to the new stereo using the screws within the kit. With the brackets aached, oer
the whole unit to the back of the fascia and test t within the vehicle to gauge the correct depth.
