andMaterialSafetyDataSheets(MSDS)forall
chemicalsusedandprotectyourselfaccordingto
thechemicalmanufacturer'srecommendations.
Ensurethataslittleskinaspossibleisexposed
whileusingchemicals.Useappropriatepersonal
protectiveequipment(PPE)toguardagainst
personalcontactwithchemicals,suchas:
–eyeprotectionand/orfaceshield
–respiratororltermask
–chemicalresistantgloves
–rubberbootsorothersubstantialfootwear
–hearingprotection
–cleanchangeofclothes,soap,anddisposable
towels,tobekepton-hand,intheeventof
achemicalspill.
•Keepinmindthattheremaybemorethan
onechemicalused,andinformationoneach
chemicalshouldbeassessed.
•Refusetooperateorworkonthespreader-sprayer
ifthisinformationisnotavailable!
•Beforeworkingonaspreader-sprayersystem,
ensurethatthesystemhasbeentriplerinsedand
neutralizedaccordingtotherecommendations
ofthechemicalmanufacturer(s)andallofthe
valveshavebeencycled3times.
•Verifythereisanadequatesupplyofcleanwater
andsoapnearby,andimmediatelywashoffany
chemicalsthatcontactyou.
•Obtainpropertrainingbeforeusingorhandling
chemicals.
•Usethecorrectchemicalforthejob.
•Followthemanufacturer'sinstructionsforthesafe
applicationofthechemical.Donotexceedrecommended
applicationpressure.
•Donotll,calibrate,orcleantheunitwhenpeople,
especiallychildren,orpetsareinthearea.
•Handlechemicalsinawellventilatedarea.
•Havecleanwateravailableespeciallywhenllingthe
spraytank.
•Donoteat,drink,orsmokewhileworkingwithchemicals.
•Donotcleanspraynozzlesbyblowingthroughthemor
placinginmouth.
•Alwayswashyourhandsandotherexposedareasassoon
aspossibleafteryounishtheworkingwithchemicals.
•Keepchemicalsintheiroriginalpackagesandstoredin
asafelocation.
•Properlydisposeofunusedchemicalsandchemical
containersasinstructedbythechemicalmanufacturer
andyourlocalcodes.
•Chemicalsandfumesaredangerous;neverenterthetank,
hopper,orplaceyourheadoverorintheopeningfora
tankorhopper.
•Followalllocal,state,federalregulationsforspreading
orsprayingchemicals.
SafeHandlingofFuel
•Toavoidpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,useextreme
careinhandlinggasoline.Fuelisextremelyammable
andthevaporsareexplosive.
•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andothersources
ofignition.
•Useonlyanapprovedfuelcontainer.
•Donotremovethefuelcaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.
•Allowtheenginetocoolbeforefueling.
•Donotfuelthemachineindoors.
•Donotstorethemachineorthefuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,suchasona
waterheateroronotherappliances.
•Donotllthecontainersinsideavehicle,onatruck,
oronatrailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplacethe
containersontheground,awayfromyourvehiclebefore
lling.
•Removethemachinefromthetruckorthetrailerandfuel
itontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,thenaddthefuel
withsuchequipmentasaportablecontainerratherthan
fromafuel-dispensernozzle.
•Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefueltank
orcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingiscomplete.
Donotuseanozzle-lockopendevice.
•Iffuelisspilledonyourclothing,changeyourclothing
immediately.
•Donotoverllthefueltank.Replacethefuelcapand
tightenitsecurely.
MaintenanceandStorage
•Disengagedrives,settheparkingbrake,shutoffthe
engine,removethekeyanddisconnectthespark-plug
wire.Waitforallmovementtostopbeforeadjusting,
cleaningorrepairingthemachine.
•Cleangrassanddebrisfromthedrives,themufers,and
theenginetohelppreventres.Cleanupoil,fuel,or
hydraulicuidspills.
•Lettheenginecoolbeforestoring.
