Overview
This kit is used as a template when thick facing is being installed around a ProBuilder CleanFace fireplace. This
provides a straight edge to install material up to and maintain the space needed for installation and removal of the
glass assembly for service. See the installation manual for complete details on installing thick facing.
GAP TO SCREEN ASSEMBLY:
When installed, this template provides 3/8” (9.6mm) gap above screen assembly and 1/8” (3.2mm) gap to the
sides.

Installation
1. Remove the right and left screen assembly mount from the fireplace by removing the (3) screws in each (set
aside for reinstallation) (see below).

2. Use the screws, removed in step one, to
secure the set up brackets to the fireplace.
3. Cut 2x4’s (not included) to the appropriate
length and secure them to the brackets using
(10) screws (see illustration below to the right).
HINT: Before installing the masonry, place
a piece of tar-paper (or plastic) over the
2x4s to prevent the masonry from adhering
to the wood.

4. Once the masonry work is
completed, unscrew the (6) philips
head screws that attatch the
brackets to the fireplace and pull
the brackets and 2x4’s forward
from the fireplace.
HINT: If you experince dificulty
removing the template from the
fireplace, you may want to cut the
2/4’s to ease removal.
5. Reinstall the right and left screen
assembly mount. Secure them to
the fireplace using the same
Philips head screws.
6. Proceed with the installation as
detailed in the appliance
installation instructions.

Non-Combustible Facing Installation
Backing material (cement board, Hardi-backer™, etc.) less than 1/2” thick installstothetopandsideof
brackets.
(see picture below).
Non-combustible facing thicker than 1-1/2” (measured from the fireplace) installs to the top and sides of
the template brackets (see picture below). This allows for the required clearance to remove and reinstall
the screen assembly for maintenance.
