Introduction
The AM100 is a compact indoor ambiance monitoring sensor including motion, humidity,
temperature, and light sensors. The AM100 is a battery powered device and is designed to be
wall mounted. It is equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication). Sensor data are
transmitted in real-time using standard LoRaWAN protocol. LoRaWAN enables encrypted radio
transmissions over long distance while consuming very little power.
IoT Plug and Play certified device simplifies the process of building devices without custom
device code. Using Solution builders can integrate quickly using the certified IoT Plug and Play
enabled device based on Azure IoT Central as well as third-party solutions.
This getting started guide provides step by step instruction on getting the device online within
minutes and feeding data into Azure IoT Hub, Azure IoT Central, Azure Events Hub, Azure
Storage, Power BI or any other 3rd party platform

Additional Hardware & Software
Requirements
The Ursalink Ambiance Monitoring Sensor AM100 has both an additional hardware and
software dependency that are required in order to connect to Azure:
•To use this device, it must be connected to a LoRaWAN gateway
•To use this device, you must also use the IoT in a Box service from MyDevices
This device was tested with the following Azure Certified Device gateway:

Pre-Installation
Sign up for the free myDevices’ app called IoT in a Box. This online/mobile app that lets you
instantly set up your LoRaWAN gateways and devices and connect them to Azure IoT Central,
Azure Events Hub, Azure IOT Hub, Azure Service Bus, Azure Storage and Power BI as well as any
other 3rd party app or platform.
Set up your free account before adding gateways and sensors.
1. Open your browser and navigate to http://iotinabox.mydevices.com
2. Create your free account and get started.
Connect a LoRaWAN Gateway
You'll need a myDevices’ certified LoRaWAN gateway to connect your LoRa device to Azure.
These gateways are available directly from the gateway manufacturers, such as MultiTech,
Tektelic, Gemtek (aka Browan); or from Ingram Micro, myDevices.com or other distributors
around the world.

From the myDevices IoT in a Box App:
1. Select. Menu > Add Gateway
2. Scan QR Code to add gateways
Connect the LoRaWAN Sensor
From the myDevices IoT in a Box App: simply scan the QR code located on the back of the
device to the correct location.
1. Select. Menu > Add Device

2. Scan sensor into app and enter Name
Connect your Devices to Azure IOT Hub
From the myDevices’ IoT in a Box Application, go to the integrations tab and select the Azure
IoT Hub(PnP) option
Configure the each device(s) with the DPS credentials

Use the following instructions to have your IoT events sent to your Azure IoT Hub account.

Connect to Azure IoT Central
From the myDevices’ IoT in a Box Application, go to the integrations tab and select the select
the Azure IoT Central option
Easily integrate with Azure IoT Central and connect hundreds of devices. This integration
connects IoT Central with myDevices to create a device bridge and bringing the best of the two
platforms. Azure IoT Central is a hosted platform that simplifies setup of your IoT solution.
•ID scope: In your IoT Central application, navigate to Administration > Device
Connection. Make a note of the ID scope value.
•Group primary key: In your IoT Central application, navigate to Administration > Device
Connection > SAS-IoT-Devices. Make a note of the shared access signature Primary key
value.
Enter the DPS information that you previously obtained:
Use the Cloud Shell to generate a device specific key from the group SAS key you just retrieved
using the Azure CLI

az extension add --name azure-iot az iot central device compute-device-key --device-id sample-
device-01 --pk
Make a note of the generated device key, and the ID scope for this application and flash it on
the device
