1. DESCRIPTION
PV9210 VIKING lifejacket 275 N is an inflatable
lifejacket tested and approved according to
EN ISO 12402. The lifejacket is certified by
NB0200, Force Certification, Park Allé 345,
DK-2605 Brøndby. When fully inflated the PV9210
lifejacket 275 N provides a buoyancy of min.
275 N and is intended for persons weighing
from 40 kg to over 100 kg with a chest measure
between 60-150 cm.
2. TRAINING BEFORE USE
Make yourself familiar with the functioning of
the lifejacket and test it in a swimming pool
or in other safe conditions before use. Inflate
the lifejacket orally using the oral inflation
tube. Wear your normal clothes when training.
After testing the buoyancy must be emptied
thoroughly of air.
3. INSTRUCTION FOR USE
1. Put on as a jacket.
2. Close the front buckle.
3. Adjust the strap.
4. Close the crutch buckles.
5. Inflate the lifejacket manually by a
strong pull of the release line.
The PV9210 VIKING Lifejacket 275 N is available
with either Halkey Roberts (manual or
automatic) or Hammar inflators. Please make
yourself familiar of which type of inflator your
lifejacket is equipped with.
The automatically inflated lifejackets can be
inflated in three different ways:
a: Automatic inflation
The buoyancy chamber inflates within
approx. 5 seconds from immersion into
water.
b: Manual inflation
The lifejacket inflates on a strong pull
of the release line protruding from the
right-hand side of the protective cover.
c: Oral inflation
Open the protective cover and blow
air into the oral inflation tube placed
on the left-hand side of the buoyancy
chamber.
The manually inflated lifejackets can be inflated
in two different ways:
a: Manual inflation
The lifejacket inflates on a strong pull
of the release line protruding from the
right-hand side of the protective cover.
b: Oral inflation
Open the protective cover and blow
air into the oral inflation tube placed
on the left-hand side of the buoyancy
chamber.
WARNING: Although it has been tested to
withstand excess pressure, DO NOT ever inflate
the buoyancy chamber by mouth prior to
manual inflation.
4. MAINTENANCE
Maintenance of your lifejacket as well as initial
testing is essential to your safety in case of an
accident.
It is recommended that you hand in your
lifejacket for service every other year at a VIKING
authorized service station. Please contact VIKING
for information on nearest service station.
Note: If the lifejacket is equipped with an
automatic Halkey Roberts inflator, the bobbin
must be replaced annually from first use. Do not
use bobbins that are more than four years old.
The production date is printed on the bobbin
itself.
4.1 CHECKING BEFORE USE
Lifejacket with Halkey Roberts inflator
1. Check that the lifejacket is undamaged.
You may inflate the lifejacket by
mouth. Then repack it as described in
Packing (4.3).
Note: Avoid activation of the automatic
inflator.
2. Check oral inflation valve and tube.

3. Check whistle.
4. Check straps and buckles.
5. Open the protective cover at its right
side and check the inflator
Automatic inflator:
a: The green indicator must be visible.
b: The green lock pin must be
mounted in the inflator.
c: The lifejacket is to be equipped with
a 60g CO2cylinder.
d: The opening of the CO2-cylinders
must not be perforated – check by
unscrewing the CO2-cylinder.
Manual inflator:
a. The green lock pin must be
mounted in the inflator.
b. The lifejacket is to be equipped with
a 60g CO2cylinder.
c. The opening of the CO2cylinder
must not be perforated – check by
unscrewing the CO2 cylinder.
6. Close the protective cover.
Lifejacket with Hammar inflator
1. Open the protective cover at its right
side and check the inflator.
Note: The inflator does not function if:
• There is air in the buoyancy chamber.
• Expiry date is overdue.
• The indicator in the yellow
hydrostatic inflator is red.
The hydrostatic inflator can only be opened
using a special opener enclosed in the spare
parts set.
2. Check the oral inflation valve and tube.
3. Check whistle.
4. Check straps and buckles.
5. Check that the lifejacket is undamaged
(you may inflate the lifejacket by mouth
but remember to empty out the air
again). Then repack it as described in
Packing (4.3).
Note: Avoid activation of the inflator.
6. Close the protective cover.
IMPORTANT: If the lifejacket is not intact, do not
use it. The release line must be visible on the
outside of the lifejacket. Make sure that a long
and free-hanging part of it is visible.
4.2 CLEANING
Clean the lifejacket in mild soapy water only.
4.3 PACKING (Fig. 4.3)

1. Place the lifejacket flat on a clean
surface. Close the cover and paper
around the CO2bottle and attach an
elastic band.
2. Fold up the bottom right side.
3. Fold the cover in along the hook
closure.
4. Fold the other side of the cover over
and close it along the hook/loop
closure. The release handle must
protrude from the side of the cover.
Attach the LIFT webbing on the loop
material on the opposite side of the
buoyancy chamber.
5. Fold up the bottom of the left side.
6. Fold the cover in along the hook closure.
7. Fold the other side of the cover over
and close it along the hook/loop
closure.
8. If the lifejacket is equipped with a
sprayhood, the sprayhood is folded
three times.
9. Fold the neck like a fan with the
welding visible. Place the sprayhood
into the neckfolds.
Make sure the welding on the neck is
still visible.
10. Close the cover in the middle.
11. Fold in the corners. The welding must
be visible.
12. Close the cover completely.
Important: The release line must be visible
outside the cover.

Lifejacket with Hammar inflator
1. Place the lifejacket flat on a clean
surface.
2. Attach the LIFT webbing on the loop
material on the buoyancy chamber and
fold up the bottom
right side.
3. Fold the cover in along the hook.
4. Fold the other side of the cover over
and close it along the hook/loop
closure.
The release line/handle must protrude
from the bottom of the cover.
5. Fold up the bottom of the left side.
6. Fold the cover in along the hook.
7. Fold the other side of the cover over
and close it along the hook/loop
closure.
8. If the lifejacket is equipped with a
sprayhood, the sprayhood is folded
three times.
9. Fold the neck like a fan with the
welding visible. Place the sprayhood
into the neckfolds.
Make sure the welding on the neck is
still visible.
10. Close the cover in the middle.
11. Fold in the corners. The welding must
be visible.
12. Close the cover completely.
Important: The release line/handle must be
visible outside the cover.
4.4 REPLACEMENT OF CO2 CYLINDER –
HALKEY ROBERTS
Automatic inflator (Fig. 4.4)
After use in fresh water dry the lifejacket.
If the lifejacket has been used in salt water,
it must be rinsed with fresh water and then
dried. Empty the lifejacket of air using the
oral inflation valve.
a. Unscrew the automatic holder (8) and
throw away the bobbing (7). Rinse the
holder carefully in fresh water and dry
it carefully.
b. Unscrew and throw away the used CO2
cylinder.
c. Place a new bobbing (7) in the release
mechanism. Screw the automatic holder
onto the inflator.
d. The green indicator must be visible on
the back.
e. If the release arm (3) has been pulled
out, press it back into position and
place the indicator clip (4) over the
release arm.
f. Gasket (2) under the CO2cylinder must
be removed and discarded. Insert a new
gasket in the inflator (5). Place it right
at the bottom of the inflator.
g. Screw the CO2cylinder (1) into the
inflator and hand tighten.
Manual inflator (Fig. 4.4a)
After use in fresh water dry the lifejacket.
If the lifejacket has been used in salt water,
it must be rinsed with fresh water and then
dried. Empty the lifejacket of air using the
oral inflation valve.
a. Unscrew and discard the used CO2
cylinder (1).
b. If the release arm (3) has been pulled,
push it back in place and attach the
Lock pin (4) above the release arm.
c. Gasket (2) under the CO2cylinder must
be removed and discarded. Insert a new
gasket in the inflator (5). Screw the CO2
cylinder (1) tightly onto the inflator (5)
by hand.
4.5 REPLACEMENT OF CO2 CYLINDER –
HAMMAR INFLATOR

Hammar.
5. SPARE PARTS
Halkey Roberts automatic inflator
CO2cylinder, bobbin, gasket and lock-pin
are delivered separately. Do not open until
required for use.
It is recommended always to keep a spare set.

6. STORAGE
We recommend that the lifejacket is stored in
a dry place at temperatures not below zero,
possibly on a peg in a wardrobe. Unintended
inflation can occur. This may be due to a
combination of moisture and vibration.
7. APPLICATIONS AND LIMITATIONS
PV9210 is designed for yachting and working
purposes within the shipping and offshore
industry.
The lifejacket has been tested in water
temperatures ranging from 0° C to 30° C.
At water temperatures below zero, automatic
inflation can be delayed. If so, manual release
is required. Do not ever wear any clothing
over the lifejacket. If worn together with an
immersion suit or any special clothing such as
sailors’ wear with buoyancy, the functioning
of the lifejacket can be affected. Thus the
capability of turning an unconscious person can
be reduced.
Please note that a lifejacket fitted with Hammar
inflators only inflates automatically when
submerged in water deeper than 10 cm.
