Installation
Introduction
The Powerpette Pro has been carefully designed and manufactured as a lightweight, cordless
pipetting aid for use with all plastic or glass pipettes from 1–100 ml.
This Powerpette Pro is constructed in recyclable materials and operates on two rechargeable, long
life, environmentally friendly 1.2V nickel metal hydride batteries. Powerpette Pro has uniquely formed
ngertriggerstominimizeanyhighpressurepoints.Thesetriggersalsocontrolintakeanddispensing
speeds.
A battery warning light (4) is triggered whenever the charge in the batteries is low and they should
then be recharged. Pipetting with Powerpette Pro can also take place while the units are connected
to their chargers (5).
Powerpette Pro has a conveniently located slide switch (3) which allows the user to select between
three modes of operation:
Slide switch position ‘High’ (top) Suction and dispense at full speed (Blow-out)
Slide switch position ‘Low’ (middle) Suction and dispense at reduced speed (Blow-out)
Slide switch position ‘G’ (bottom) Suction at reduced speed, dispense by gravity (To Deliver)
Safety Information
The Powerpette Pro has been designed with safety in mind. They are lightweight and balance safely
in the hand. The triggers have been carefully designed to eliminate pressure points and control of
intake and delivery is therefore made easier.
It is recommended when using deleterious liquids that the user wears protective clothing including
gogglesandgloves.Ifindoubtaskyoursafetyofcer.Pleaseconsultandestablishappropriatehealth
and safety practices applicable to the liquid being dispensed within your working environment.

Recharging the Powerpette Pro
Before starting to operate, carefully check mains voltage and recharge batteries. To charge the
Powerpette Pro:
•Plug the charger jack (6) into the base of the Powerpette Pro.
•Plug the charger (5) into a suitable wall socket. The red indicator on the charger will light up.
•Place the Powerpette Pro onto bench stand.
•Allow the unit to charge for 16 hours from empty to fully charged.
•Once the Powerpette Pro is fully charged, the charger automatically switches to a trickle charge
operation and the indicator light turns green. If the charge to the Powerpette Pro is interrupted
and then re-started the charger will begin its 16 hour cycle and will switch to a trickle charge
operation as above. This will not damage the battery.
•Only use the charger indoors and protect against moisture.
•Recharging temperature +10 °C to +35 °C.
Fitting the Powerpette Pro wall bracket
The Powerpette Pro bench stand is supplied ready to use as a wall bracket. When used as
abenchstanditisrecommendedthatthewallttingisremoved.

Instructions for Use
Pipetting
To aspirate
1. Carefully hold the pipette and insert it securely into the ASA nosecone (10) and silicone holder (9).
2. Select mode of operation–High, Low, for blow-out pipettes. ‘G’ for ‘to deliver’ (3).
3. Depress upper aspirate trigger (1) (The harder the pipetting triggers are pressed the faster the
aspiration).
To dispense
1. In BLOW-OUT mode, (mode switch on high or low) depress the lower trigger (2) (The harder the
pipetting triggers are pressed, the faster the dispense).
2. If ‘G’ gravity mode is chosen, the upper aspirate trigger automatically operates at low speed
while the lower trigger opens the pipette to atmosphere, allowing liquid to run out.
WARNING!
Please ensure that no liquid enters the instrument. The Powerpette Pro should never be used without
thelter(8).Thelteralsopreventsliquidfromenteringtheinstrument.Whereliquidhasentered
pleasecleanand/orreplacelter.
Note
When the meniscus level has been reached liquid should not drip out of the pipette. If the pipette
doesdrip,checkthattheadaptorassembly(7)andlter(8)arecorrectlyassembledandthepipetteis
properly located into the silicone pipette holder (9).

Troubleshooting
The Powerpette Pro is virtually service-free. If the recommendations below do not resolve the
problem, please contact your authorized dealer.
General Maintenance
Cleaning
Before cleaning disconnect from the mains charger. Do not clean the mains charger.
The Powerpette Pro can be cleaned with most common laboratory disinfectants. The silicone pipette
holder (9) can be autoclaved.
To remove the nosecone (10) and silicone pipette holder (9) turn the nosecone (10) anti-clockwise.
Whenthenoseconeisremovedthesiliconepipette(9)holdercanalsobedisengagedfromthelter
(8) by gently turning.
Replacing the Filter
Thehydrophobiclter(8)willrequireoccasionalreplacement,particularlywhenwettedbytheliquid
and whenever the suction capacity is slowing.

Return for Repair
In the unlikely event of repair, or where the damage to the unit necessitates return to your
distributor or the manufacturer, please decontaminate the unit and complete the required
decontaminationcerticatewhereappropriate.Inaddition,pleasegivewrittendetailsofthefault.

Warranty
The manufacturer warrants that this product will be free from defects in material and workmanship
for a period of three (3) years from date of delivery. If a defect is present, VWR will, at its option
and cost, repair, replace, or refund the purchase price of this product to the customer, provided it is
returned during the warranty period. This warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged
by accident, abuse, misuse, or misapplication, or from ordinary wear and tear. If the required
maintenance and inspection services are not performed according to the manuals and any local
regulations, such warranty turns invalid, except to the extent, the defect of the product is not due to
such non performance.
Items being returned must be insured by the customer against possible damage or loss. This
warranty shall be limited to the aforementioned remedies. IT IS EXPRESSLY AGREED THAT THIS
WARRANTY WILL BE IN LIEU OF ALL WARRANTIES OF FITNESS AND IN LIEU OF THE WARRANTY OF
MERCHANTABILITY.
Equipment disposal
This equipment is marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol to indicate
that this equipment must not be disposed of with unsorted waste.
Instead it is your responsibility to correctly dispose of your equipment at
lifecycle-end by handing it over to an authorized facility for separate collection
and recycling. It is also your responsibility to decontaminate the equipment in
caseofbiological,chemicaland/orradiologicalcontamination,soastoprotect
from health hazards the persons involved in the disposal and recycling of the
equipment.
