Upon receiving the VWR Incubating Orbital Shaker, check to ensure that no damage
has occurred during shipment. It is important that any damage that occurred in trans-
port is detected at the time of unpacking. If you do find such damage the carrier must
be notified immediately.
After unpacking, it requires two (2) people to lift the Incubating Orbital Shaker, from
the bottom, to place on a level bench or table, away from explosive vapors. Ensure
that the surface on which the unit is placed will withstand typical heat produced by the
unit. Always place the unit on a sturdy work surface.
The Incubating Orbital Shaker is supplied with a power cord that is inserted into the
IEC connector on the back of the unit first, then it can be plugged into a properly
grounded outlet. The 230V unit plugs into a 230 volt, 50/60 Hz source.

The Incubating Orbital Shaker is built for long, trouble-free, dependable service.No lubri-
cation or other technical user maintenance is required. However at least every three
(3) months you should:
• Unplug the unit.
• Remove any accumulated dirt from the base and tray.
• Check all accessible items to make sure they are properly tightened.
The unit should be given the care normally required for any electrical appliance. Avoid
wetting or unnecessary exposure to fumes. Spills should be removed promptly.
$ use a cleaning agent or solvent on the front panel or lid which is abrasive or
harmful to plastics, nor one which is flammable. Always ensure the power is discon-
nected from the unit prior to any cleaning. If the unit ever requires service, contact your
VWR representative.

The Incubating Orbital Shaker is designed for a variety of shaking applications.

This equipment must not be disposed of with unsorted waste. It is
your responsibility to correctly dispose of the equipment at life-cycle-
end by handing it over to an authorized facility for separate collection
and recycling. It is also your responsibility to decontaminate the
equipment in case of biological, chemical and/or radiological contam-
ination, so as to protect the persons involved in the disposal and
recycling of the equipment from health hazards.

Please read the entire instruction manual before operating the Incubating Orbital
Shaker.

atmosphere or with hazardous materials for which the unit was not designed.
Also, the user should be aware that the protection provided by the equipment
may be impaired if used with accessories not provided or recommended by
the manufacturer, or used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer.
Always operate unit on a level surface for best performance and maximum
safety.

the chamber is above 40°C. The light will illuminate and remain lit when the
temperature of the air in the chamber reaches approximately 40°C. When the
heat is turned off, the caution hot indicator light will stay lit until the temperature
of the air in the chamber is less than 40°C.

The front panel of the Incubating Orbital Shaker contains all the controls and displays
needed to operate the unit.

when the unit is plugged in. The unit will be in standby mode. Press the standby
button to activate the temperature, speed and time functions. The standby indicator
light will shut off and the temperature, speed and time displays will illuminate. Press
the stand-by button again and the unit will once again be in standby mode.
$/7:/<+>?</.3=:6+C Displays the actual/set-point temperatures in conjunction
with the actual/set-point indicator lights. Up/down arrows for set-point control.
On/off button starts/stops the heating function. The heat indicator light will be illu-
minated when the unit is heating.

temperature of the air in the chamber.

#://..3=:6+C Displays the speed of the shaker. Up/down arrows for set-point
control. On/off button starts/stops shaking function. The speed indicator light will
be illuminated when the unit is shaking.
$37/.3=:6+C Displays accumulated time (continuous mode) or how much time is
remaining (timed mode). The display range is from 0 to 9999 minutes in one (1)
second increments. The display will indicate minutes and seconds until the timer
reaches 99 minutes and 59 seconds (99:59), then the display will automatically dis-
play minutes up to 9999. Up/down arrows for set-point control. On/off button
starts/stops the time function.

The Incubating Orbital Shaker has been designed for the temperature, speed and time
functions to work independently of one another. The temperature and speed can be
reset without resetting the timer and the timer can be stopped and started without
interrupting the heating and shaking functions.

a. Plug the power cord into a properly grounded outlet. The standby indicator light
will illuminate, verifying power to the unit.
b. Press the standby button to move the unit from standby mode. The standby
indicator light will turn off and the temperature, speed and time displays will illu-
minate, displaying the previously used settings.

a. Press the up/down arrows below the temperature display until you reach the
desired temperature. When you release the button, the display will blink off and
then on indicating the new set temperature has been accepted.
b. Press the on/off button to start the heating function. The indicator light below the
temperature display will illuminate to indicate the heating function is in use and
remain lit until heating has ceased.
c. Temperature adjustments can be made without interrupting heating by using the
up/down arrows below the temperature display. After the change has been
made and you release the button, the display will blink off and then on indicat-
ing the new set temperature has been accepted.
d. To stop the heating function, press the on/off button below the temperature dis-
play. The heat indicator light will turn off.

The caution hot indicator light warns that the temperature of
the air in the chamber is above 40°C. The light will
illuminate and remain lit when the temperature of the air in
the chamber reaches approximately 40°C. When the heat
is turned off, the caution hot indicator light will stay lit until the
temperature of the air in the chamber is less than 40°C.

a. Press the up/down arrows below the speed display until you reach the desired
speed. When you release the button, the display will blink off and then on indi-
cating the new set speed has been accepted.
b. Press the on/off button to start the shaking function. The indicator light below the
speed display will illuminate and blink until the set-point is reached. Once the
set-point is reached the light will stop blinking and remain lit until shaking has
ceased. The micro-processor controlled ramping feature slowly increases
speed until the set-point is reached which helps to avoid splashing, and provides
excellent low end control.
c. Speed adjustments can be made without interrupting shaking by using the
up/down arrows below the speed display. After the change has been made and
you release the button, the display will blink off and then on indicating the new
set speed has been accepted.
d. To stop the shaking function, press the on/off button below the speed display.
The speed indicator light will turn off.

a. To turn the unit off, press the standby button. The temperature, speed and time
displays will be blank, the standby indicator light will illuminate. The Incubating
Orbital Shaker should be kept in standby mode when not in use. To complete-
ly cut off power to the unit, disconnect the power cord from the unit or unplug
from the wall outlet.

Opening the lid on the Incubating Orbital Shaker will cause the unit to pause shaking
and/or heating. Close the lid and the unit will resume shaking and/or heating at cur-
rent settings.
Centering your sample and even weight distribution on the tray helps with
balance and stability.
As a safety feature, a built-in program will shut power off to the motor if the tray is pre-
vented from rotating, or the unit is overloaded beyond its recommended weight capacity.
The shaker will automatically restart after a power interruption. Built-in memory main-
tains the last used temperature, speed and time settings during a power interruption.

The Incubating Orbital Shaker is equipped with a load sensing function that can be
activated by the user. This function provides protection against improper positioning of
load and maximum load being exceeded. When activated, the unit will automatically
sense improper load conditions and slow to a safe running speed, then display that
speed followed by an E04 error message on the speed display. The unit will also beep
three (3) times every 60 seconds until the error is reset by pressing the speed on/off
button. To activate the load sensing function use the following steps:
1. Place the unit in standby mode.
2. Press and hold the speed on/off button and press the standby button. The unit will
beep two (2) times, confirming the function is enabled.
3. To restore normal operation, remove AC power to the unit for ten (10) seconds and

a. Press and hold the on/off button below the time display. After three (3) seconds
the display will indicate the previous set time.
b. Simultaneously press both the up and the down arrows, the display will indicate
zero (0:00). The unit time is now set to zero (0:00) minutes. Alternately, you can
use the up/down arrows to get to zero (0:00).
c. Press the on/off button below the time display. The display will indicate accumu-
lated time. The up/down arrows will become inactive. To stop timer, press the
on/off button again. "$$ This will $ interrupt the shaking function.
Press the on/off button below the speed display to interrupt the shaking function.
d. To reset, press and hold the on/off button below the time display. After three (3)
seconds the display will indicate the previous set time, which was zero (0:00).

a. Press the up/down arrows below the time display until you reach the desired
time.
b. Start this function by pressing the on/off button below the time display. The unit
will run for the selected time, the up/down arrows will become inactive while the
timer is running. The unit will stop shaking when time display reaches zero
(0:00). our (4) audible beeps will indicate the count down function is complete.
The time display will default back to the set time. To repeat for the same time,
simply press the on/off button again.
c. To interrupt an automatic timing cycle before it is completed, press the on/off
button below the time display. The display will flash off and on to indicate the
time function is on "hold". "$$ This will $ interrupt the shaking
function. Press the on/off button below the speed display to interrupt the shak-
ing function. Restart the timer by pressing the on/off button below the time dis-
play. Unit will continue counting down to zero (0:00). When the display reaches
zero (0:00), you will hear the four (4) audible beeps that indicate the count down
function is complete and the shaking function will cease.

or decrease temperature accordingly to bring the temperature to set
temperature. The decimal point of the display will flash to indicate a biased offset is
being used. All other temperature settings will use the standard internal
calibration. This offset will be stored in memory and retained until reset.
To restore unit to factory setting:
Press and hold the standby button while pressing the temperature down arrow once.
The reset will be confirmed with two (2) audible beeps. Press the standby button to exit
calibration mode and return to normal heating.

The RS-232 serial port provides two-way communications for data logging and unit
control.

If the E04 error occurs be sure the load is within the maximum specification and properly
balanced (centered on tray) and/or reduce sample size/speed before restarting the
unit. If the E04 error occurs due to acceptable sample vibration or another vibration
source, the vibration sensing function can be disabled as described above.

To silence beeper operation (except for error codes), with the unit in standby mode,
press and hold the time on/off button and press the standby button. Release the stand-
by button first, and then release the on/off button. To restore normal beeper operation,
remove AC power to unit for ten (10) seconds and then restore.

This procedure is used to fine tune and calibrate the Incubating Orbital Shaker at a
specific temperature setting. This process may be repeated for up to three (3) sepa-
rate set-points. If a fourth calibration set-point is entered, the first set-point entered will
be overwritten.
1. Turn unit on.
2. Set desired temperature.
3. Stabilize one (1) hour or more, measuring the temperature with a temperature
probe/thermometer.
4. Press and hold standby button, then press the temperature up arrow once. The unit
will beep two (2) times, confirming calibration mode. The display will now be flash-
ing.
5. Press the temperature up/down arrows until the display matches the temperature
probe/thermometer.
6. Press standby button to exit calibration mode and return to normal heating. This
process may be repeated at the same set-point, multiple times for fine tuning if
desired.
The unit will now use the biased offset for that specific temperature setting and increase

1. Unit should be in standby mode.
2. Remove non-skid rubber mat. Slide Platform over-top included tray.
3. Using the hardware provided, attach brackets to the Platform. Position brackets as
shown. The proper spacing between the brackets is 19,7cm.
4. Align the test tube rack side-to-side with the brackets on the Platform.
5. Press the test tube rack in place, you will hear the test tube rack clip into position.
No mounting screws are required.

2. Remove non-skid rubber mat. Slide Platform over-top included tray.
3. Line up the hole(s) in the flask clamp to the hole(s) in the Platform. Using the
screw(s) provided, hand tighten into place using a flathead screwdriver. $
over tighten.
4. Insert flask/media bottle into clamp and wrap the spring around the neck of the
clamp to hold secure.

Dès réception de Agitateur incubateur orbital VWR, vérifiez l’absence de dommages sur-
venus pendant le transport. Il est important que tout dommage résultant du transport soit
détecté lors du déballage. Informez immédiatement le transporteur en cas de dommage.
Après le déballage, deux (2) personnes sont nécessaires pour soulever l’agitateur incuba-
teur orbital afin de la placer sur un plan de travail ou une table de niveau, à l’écart de toute

La Agitateur incubateur orbital ont été conçus de façon à ce que les fonctions de
température, de vitesse et de minuterie fonctionnent indépendamment les unes des
autres. La température et la vitesse peuvent être réinitialisées sans réinitialiser la minu-
terie et la minuterie peut être arrêtée et démarrée sans interrompre les fonctions de
chauffage et d’agitation.
1. <O:+<+>398
a. Branchez le cordon d’alimentation dans une prise correctement mise à la terre.
Le témoin veille s’allume pour indiquer que l’appareil est bien alimenté.
b. Appuyez sur la touche veille pour basculer l’appareil du mode veille. Le témoin
veille s’éteint et les affichages de la durée, de la température et de la vitesse s’al-
lument pour indiquer les réglages précédents.
2. "O16+1/./6+>/7:O<+>?</
a. Appuyez sur les flèches haut/bas situées sous l'affichage de la température
jusqu’à ce que la température souhaitée soit obtenue. Lorsque vous relâchez la
touche, l'affichage clignote pour indiquer que la nouvelle température a été accep-
tée.
b. Appuyez sur la touche marche/arrêt pour activer la fonction de chauffage. Le
témoin situé sous l’affichage de la température s’allume pour indiquer que la fonc-
tion de chauffage est en cours d’utilisation et reste allumé jusqu’à ce que le
chauffage cesse.
c. La température peut être modifiée sans interrompre le chauffage à l’aide des
flèches haut/bas situées sous l’affichage de la température. Une fois la modifica-
tion effectuée, et après avoir relâché la touche, l'appareil clignote pour indiquer
que la nouvelle température a été acceptée.
d. Appuyez sur la touche marche/arrêt située sous l’affichage de la température pour
arrêter le chauffage. Le témoin de chauffage s’éteint.

tion est en cours d’utilisation et reste allumé jusqu’à ce que l’agitation cesse. La
fonctionnalité de dosage contrôlée par microprocesseur augmente lentement la
vitesse jusqu’à atteindre la valeur de réglage afin d’éviter les éclaboussements et
fournit un excellent contrôle occasionnel.
c. La vitesse peut être modifiée sans interrompre l’agitation à l’aide des flèches
haut/bas situées sous l’affichage de la vitesse. Une fois la modification effectuée,
et après avoir relâché la touche, l'affichage clignote, indiquant que la nouvelle
vitesse a été acceptée.
d. Pour arrêter la fonction d’agitation, appuyez sur la touche marche/arrêt située
sous l’affichage de la vitesse. Le témoin de vitesse s’éteint.
4. "O16+1/./6+.?<O/KDO<9/>.?79./-98>38? Durée cumulée.
a. Appuyez sans relâcher la touche marche/arrêt en dessous de l'affichage de la
minuterie. Au bout de trois (3) secondes, l'affichage indique la durée de consigne
précédente.
b. Appuyez simultanément sur les flèches haut et bas ; l’affichage indique zéro
(0:00). La minuterie de l'appareil indique désormais zéro (0:00) minutes. Il est
également possible d’utiliser les flèches haut/bas pour aller à zéro (0:00).

c. Appuyez sur la touche marche/arrêt en dessous de l'affichage de la durée.
L'affichage indique la durée cumulée. Les flèches haut/bas deviennent inactives.
Pour arrêter la minuterie, appuyez à nouveau sur la touche marche/arrêt. "
$$ Ceci N’interrompt # la fonction agitation. Appuyez sur la touche
marche/arrêt en dessous de l'affichage de la durée pour interrompre la fonction
d’agitation.
d. Pour réinitialiser, appuyez sans relâcher la touche marche/arrêt en dessous de
l'affichage de la durée. Au bout de trois (3) secondes, l'affichage indique la durée
de consigne précédente, qui était de zéro (0:00).
5. "O16+1/.?79./>/7:9<3=O Durée programmée.
a. Appuyez sur les flèches haut/bas situées sous l'affichage de la durée jusqu’à ce
que la durée souhaitée soit obtenue.
b. Activez cette fonction en appuyant sur la touche marche/arrêt en dessous de l'af-
fichage de la durée. L’appareil fonctionne pendant la durée sélectionnée, les
flèches haut/bas sont inactives et la minuterie fonctionne. L’appareil cesse
d’agiter lorsque l’affichage de la durée atteint zéro (0:00). Quatre (4) bips sonores
indiquent que le décompte est terminé. L’affichage de la durée se remet à la durée
réglée. Pour recommencer pour la même durée, il vous suffit d'appuyer à nou-
veau sur la touche marche/arrêt.
c. Pour interrompre un cycle de temporisation automatique avant la fin, appuyez sur
la touche marche/arrêt située sous l’affichage de la durée. L’affichage clignote
pour indiquer que la fonction durée est en « veille ». "$$ Ceci
N’interrompra # la fonction agitation. Appuyez sur la touche marche/arrêt en
dessous de l'affichage de la durée pour interrompre la fonction d’agitation. Pour
activer de nouveau la minuterie, appuyez sur la touche marche/arrêt située sous
l’affichage de la durée. L'appareil continue le décompte jusqu’à zéro (0:00).
Lorsque l’affichage atteint zéro (0:00), vous entendez quatre (4) bips sonores qui
indiquent que le décompte est terminé et que la fonction d’agitation va s’arrêter.

a. Appuyez sur la touche veille pour arrêter l’appareil. Les affichages de tempéra-
ture, de vitesse et de durée sont vides et le témoin veille s’allume. Agitateur incu-
bateur orbital doit rester en mode veille lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé. Pour couper
complètement l’alimentation de l'appareil, débranchez le cordon d'alimentation de
l’appareil ou de la prise murale.

L’ouverture du couvercle de l’agitateur incubateur orbital entraîne la pause de l’agitation
et/ou du chauffage par l’appareil. Lorsque vous fermez le couvercle, l’appareil reprend
l’agitation et/ou le chauffage selon les consignes actuelles.
Placez votre échantillon au centre et répartissez le poids de façon uniforme afin de
faciliter l’équilibre et la stabilité.
Pour une plus grande sécurité, un programme intégré éteint le moteur si le plateau ne
peut pas tourner ou si l’appareil est en surcharge au-delà de sa capacité massique
recommandée.
L’agitateur redémarre automatiquement après une coupure de courant. La mémoire inté-
grée enregistre la dernière température, vitesse et durée utilisée pendant la coupure de
courant.

L’agitateur incubateur orbital est muni d’une fonction de détection de charge qui peut
être activée par l’utilisateur. Cette fonction procure une protection contre le mauvais
positionnement de la charge et les dépassements de charge maximale. Lorsque l’ap-
pareil est activé, il détecte automatiquement si la charge est inadéquate et ralentit
jusqu’à obtenir une vitesse sans danger. Ensuite l’affichage de la vitesse indique cette
vitesse suivi du message d’erreur E04. L’appareil émet aussi trois (3) bips toutes les 60
secondes jusqu’à ce que l’erreur soit réinitialisée en appuyant sur la touche vitesse
marche/arrêt. Suivez les étapes suivantes afin d’activer la fonction de détection de
charge:
