WARNING

provided installation and operating instructions and other information on labels and in this guide. This information
alerts you to potential hazards that could hurt you or others. It is not possible to warn you about all potential hazards
associated with this product, you must use your own good judgment.

THIS PRODUCT.
This guide identies potential hazards and has important safety messages that help you and others avoid personal injury
or death. WARNING and CAUTION are signal words that identify the level of hazard. These signal words mean:
WARNING signals a hazard that could cause serious injury or death, if you do not follow recommendations. CAUTION
signals a hazard that may cause minor to moderate injury, if you do not follow recommendations.
This guide uses NOTICE to call attention to important mechanical information, and Note: to emphasize general information
worthy of special attention.

Failure to observe these instructions could lead to severe injury or death
• Always take time to fully read the Instructions and/or Operations Guide, and/or Basic Guide toWinchingTechniques, in order to understand your winch and its operations.
• Always use extreme caution when drilling on any vehicle. Make sure that all fuel lines, brake lines, electrical wires, and other objects are not punctured or damaged when/if drilling on
the vehicle.Thoroughly inspect the area to be drilled (on both sides of material) prior to drilling, and relocate any objects that may be damaged. Failure to inspect the area to be drilled may
result in vehicle damage, electrical shock, re or personal injury.
• Always wear safety glasses when installing this kit. A drilling operation will cause ying metal chips. Flying chips can cause eye injury.
• Always use extreme caution when cutting and trimming during tting.
• Always remove jewelry and wear eye protection.
• Never lean over battery while making connections.
• Never route electrical cables:
o Across any sharp edges.
o Through or near moving parts.
o Near parts that become hot.
• Always insulate and protect all exposed wiring and electrical terminals.
• Always install terminal boots as directed in installation instructions.
• Always use appropriate and adequate care in lifting components into place.
• Always insure components will remain secure during installation and operation.
• Always tighten all nuts and bolts securely, per the installation instructions.
• Always perform regular inspections and maintenance on the plow mechanism, fasteners, cable and related hardware.
• Always replace all worn or damaged parts before operating.
• Never operate this WARN product with damaged or missing parts.

• The vehicle’s factory winch mount only will t the WARN® VRX 4500 lb. winch.
• The winch mount in this kit allows you to mount the AXON 4500 lb., 5500 lb. and the VRX 4500 lb. winch.
• The winch mount in this kit is compatible with the WARN® Commander plow mount.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the two torx head screws from the front plastic
shroud.
2. Remove the six torx head screws that hold the lower
bumper tubes to the front of the vehicle.
3. From under each front fender, remove the upper
bumper tube mounting bolt.
4. Remove bumper and set aside.
5. From inside the vertical frame upright, just above the
front swing arm, remove the M8 bolt (each side).

6. Remove the remaining two torx head screws from the
front of the vehicle.
7. Remove the two lower M8 bolts from skid plate and
remove plate completely. NOTE: While holding the
front plastic, carefully pry skid plate away from the
front plastic, releasing from the two clips securing the
pieces together.
8. Once skid plate is removed, remove the two u-nut clips
from the tabs on the skid plate and save.
9. Re-install the two u-nut clips to the two included
bracket top tabs (A2).

10. Install tabs to winch mount (A1) using the short M8
bolts (B1) and at washers (B2) making sure tabs are
aligned and then tighten.
11. Install fairlead to the front of the winch mount, using
fairlead hardware found in your winch kit. NOTE: If
you plan on installing a plow mount, we recommend
installing the plow roller now, following instructions
in your plow mount.
12. Position winch on winch mount. NOTE: This is a
feet up installation, please take note of the motor
orientation.
13. Thread the winch rope through the fairlead opening.
14. Secure winch to mount using the four M8 X 25mm long
bolts and four lock washers supplied in your winch kit.
NOTE: This is a feet up installation so please note the
orientation of the motor to the mount.

Drill out
Tech Tip: Drill out the upper outer corner holes (where you
removed the last two torx screws) to a slightly larger size for
ease of installation later on.
WARNING
Always verify area is clear of fuel lines, fuel
tank, brake lines, electrical wires, etc., when drilling.
15. With assistance, lift the winch mount assembly in to the
position of where the skid plate was mounted.
16. While holding the mount in place, install one of the
previously removed Torx head screws back into the
threaded nut clip/tab of the mount to temporarily hold
in place.
17. Thread one M8 X 25mm long bolt (B3) through the
vertical frame upright (where you removed the bumper
bolt in step 5) and into the weld nut on mount. Do not
tighten completely to allow for adjustment.
18. Repeat for other side. Refer to exploded view on page
3.

19. Install one M8 X 25mm bolt (B3) through the lower hole
of the vertical frame upright and into the threaded
weldnut of the mount. Do not tighten completely to
allow for adjustment.
20. Repeat for other side. Refer to exploded view on page 3.
21. Level mount and install the last upper torx head screw
and the two outer corner torx head screws. TIP: Use
a round punch or Phillips screwdriver to help align
the holes by placing the tool in an adjacent hole and
moving the tool side to side. Be careful not to damage
the threads of the hole you are using.
22. Reinstall the bumper using factory hardware removed
in step 3.
23. Install remaining torx head screws. TIP: Use a round
punch or Phillips screwdriver to help align the holes by
placing the tool in an adjacent hole and moving the tool

hole you are using.
24. Beginning at the front of the vehicle, torx screws,
bumper hardware, and nally all hardware securing
winch mount to frame. Refer to torque specications
on page 3.
NOTE: For synthetic winch rope applications, slide the
abrasion sleeve on before installing hook.
25. Install hook/hook strap combo to rope using clevis and
cotter pin.
26. Connect winch wiring following instructions supplied
with your winch.

MAINTENANCE / CARE
1. Inspect all parts on the winch, winch mount and related hardware prior to each use. Replace all hardware that appears
rusted or deformed.
2. Inspect all nuts and bolts on the winch, winch mount and related hardware prior to each use. Tighten all nuts that
appear to be loose. Stripped, fractured, or bent bolts or nuts need to be replaced.
3. Check all cables prior to use. Replace cables that look worn or frayed.
4. Check all moving or rotating parts. Remove debris that may inhibit the part from moving freely.
