If a top or leaf panel should become cupped, do not be alarmed. The top
was flat when it was manufactured. It is a natural characteristic of wood in
an unfinished state to cup from uneven moisture conditions. The figure at
the right shows an exaggerated view of what could happen. This only means
that the convex side has absorbed moisture, or the concave side has
dried out.
Usuallyacuppedpanelwillequalizeandstraightenoutifboth
sides are exposed to similar conditions for a day or so.

BEFORE BEGINNING ASSEMBLY,
check that the quantities of the parts received match those on the parts list below.

2. Lay one Left and one Right Leg (A & B) so that the sides with two mortise holes are facing each
other. The side of each leg that has a single mortise hole should be facing up. See FIGURE 2.
Apply a thin layer of glue in only the four mortise holes facing each other. Attach a Lower End
Apron (C) to the upper mortise hole in the Left Leg (A). Attach an End Support (D) to the lower
mortise hole in the Left Leg (A). Attach the Right Leg (B) to the left leg assembly. Carefully tap the
pieces together, making sure the mortise and tenon joints are tight. Remove any excess glue with
a damp cloth.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Phillips Head Screwdriver, Mallet or Padded Hammer, Wood Glue, Tape Measure

Before finishing, read enclosed finishing hints.
To test for desired color apply stain to the Middle Apron (F). See Figure 4.

1. Lay out the wood parts in their approximate location to aid in the identification and assembly.

3. For added strength, insert a Screw (I) through the back side of the Lower End Apron (C) (the
side with the remaining mortise holes in the legs) into each leg (A & B). See FIGURE 3A. Start
the screw in the corner and at an angle so that it will not go through the other side of the leg. To
insert the screw at a proper angle, the screw head should be approximately 1/2" from the Lower
End Apron (C). See FIGURE 3B.
Repeat steps 2 – 3 for the other set of legs.

4. Lay Top Assembly (E) on a protected surface with the bottom facing up. Make sure both Ends
(E4) are pushed all the way in and locked in place. Do not insert leaves at this point. Place Middle
Apron (F) in the center of the table as shown in FIGURE 4. The MiddleApron (F) should be
centered between the Front/Back Aprons (E5) and have equal distance on either side from the
Inner Slides (E8). Secure the Middle Apron (F) with three Screws (J).

5. Take one leg assembly and apply a thin layer of glue to the elongated mortise
holes. Slide the leg assembly onto the table top assembly so that the tenons in
the Front/Back Aprons (E5) seat into the mortise holes in the two legs. Carefully tap the legs until
they are tightly in place against the Front/Back Aprons (E5) and the table top. See FIGURE 5.
Remove any excess glue with a damp cloth.
6. For added strength, secure the Left Leg (A) with a 90-Degree Bracket (K). To properly position
the bracket, measure 1/2" below the adjacent Front/Back Apron (E5) and mark with a pencil.
See FIGURE 6. Place the 90-Degree Bracket (K) tightly in the corner against the Front/Back
Apron (E5) and the Left Leg (A) so that bracket is below the pencil mark. Secure in place with six
Screws (L).
Repeat and add 90-Degree Bracket between the Right Leg (B) and the other Front/Back
Apron (E5).

7. Slide the Middle Support (G) into the hole in the End Support (D) until it fits snuggly and the
hole for the wood wedge appears on the other side. The hole for the wood wedge in the Middle
Support (G) is tapered. It is important to make sure the larger opening of this hole is facing
towards the table top. See FIGURE 7.
8. Using padding on a hammer to prevent damaging the wood, tap Wood Wedge (H) into the larger
opening of the Middle Support (G) until it is tight. See FIGURES 7 & 8.

9. Take the other leg assembly and apply a thin layer of glue to the elongated mortise holes. Slide
the leg assembly onto the table top assembly so that the tenons in the Front/Back Aprons (E5)
seat into the mortise holes in the two legs. Also, make sure the Middle Support (G) is inserted
into the hole in the End Support (D). Carefully tap the legs until they are tightly in place against
the Front/Back Apron (E5) and the table top. See FIGURE 9. Remove any excess glue with a
damp cloth.
10. Repeat step 6 and install the 90-Degree Bracket between the legs and aprons.
11. Repeat step 8 to install Wood Wedge (H). Make sure both wedges are tight.

12. Unlock the Ends (E4) and pull them out. Insert Leaves (E2) and lock in place.
Note: the underside of the Leaves (E2) and Ends (E4) are marked with either the letter “A” or “B.”
Match these letters to correctly place each leaf.
The slides may stick or be hard to open when inserting the leaves. If so, apply a thin layer of
paraffin (candle wax) to the surfaces of the inner slides that come in contact with the outer slides.
