FILTER INSTALLATION
Use two of the screws provided to mount the filter bracket in the
undersink cupboard.
Locate the filter in such a position that will allow for connection to the
normal water supply of the sink and to the chilled water product. To
provide ready access for filtration cartridge changing, position the filter
at the side of the cupboard near the door.
Allow 300mm space between the underside of the filtration head and
any obstructions like shelving. Write the installation date on the filter
cartridge.
Insert the cartridge up into the filter head and turn the cartridge a
quarter turn to the right until it locks into position.
FILTER CONNECTIONS
Connect the valve assembly to the cold water supply by using the
1/2" compression fitting on the end of the valves, as illustrated above.
Connect from the valve assembly to the filter unit in the following
steps. Undo the 1/4" compression nut on the end of the valves, taking
care to catch the olive under it.
Take the 1 metre length of 1/4" white plastic tubing and the small
brass eyelet insert from the kit. Slide the nut and olive over the one
end of the tube. Push the eyelet insert into the end of the tube. Push
the end of the tube, with the eyelet, into the valve assembly outlet.
Tighten the nut finger tight then tighten exactly 1- 1/2 turns with a
spanner. The insert prevents the tubing from crushing or pulling out.
Measure the tube to run around the cupboard from the valves to the
top right of the filter head. Note that the flow direction of the filter head
goes from right to left.
Cut the tube squarely with a sharp knife or tube-cutter. Shake out and
remove any swart and debris.
Push the tube firmly at least 10mm into the John Guest (JG) push-seal
fitting on the right of the filter head.
The open outlet of a vented type (3 tube) carafe filler is suitable.
82460 Page 2 of 2
Take the second white 1/4" tube from the filter kit, and run it from the
left side outlet of the filter head, to the chilled water product inlet.
Take the third length of 1/4" tubing and connect it to the pressure relief
valve drain outlet in the same manner as described earlier, using the
second small brass insert.
Run and connect the other end of this waste tube to an approved waste
point as per AS3500.
COMMISSION THE SYSTEM
Clip up the tubing in the cupboard. After the appliance is installed and
connected, turn 'ON' the water supply. Check all connections for leaks.
Repair any found.
The filter and tubing are full of air until purged, and some whitish
looking colouration of the water will occur when first used.
Flip up the operating lever on the appliance outlet tap for a minimum of
five minutes until all of the air has been purged from the system, and
the filter cartridge becomes fully saturated.
Every time the filter cartridge is replaced, repeat the procedure of a
five-minute flush to purge the new cartridge properly.
Dispose of all packaging wisely.
PRECAUTIONS
The kit connects between the incoming cold water supply and the Zip
chilling water unit.
When properly installed and maintained, it is rated to filter out particles
of five micron and larger in size, to International Standard NSF 42.
For safe operation, thoroughly flush the water through after nonuse
periods longer than 12 hours. The filter cartridge should be replaced at
least every 6-9 months, or sooner if you notice: A. a persistent
reduction in water pressure from the product, or; B. an unpleasant taste
or odour in the water.
Not changing cartridges when required may cause the water to
become biologically unsafe.
All plumbing connections must be made in accordance with AS3500
and local Water Authority by-laws. This appliance incorporates backflow
protection complying with AS3500.1. No further backflow protection is
required for connection to the water supply. Operating pressures are
175 kPa minimum and 860 kPa maximum.
Take care, when bending rigid plastic tubing, to prevent it from kinking
or crushing around a bend. As it is plastic tubing containing water
under mains pressure, be careful not to nick, scratch, cut or damage it
during installation.

The Restrictaflow also acts as a service valve to
isolate the supply for servicing and filter

adjustable screw always remains visible and
accessible.
