Responsibilities of the user
It is theresponsibility of those in charge of theHiPerGuard MV UPSto ensure thateachperson involved
in the installation, operation or maintenance of the product has received the appropriate training and
has thoroughlyread and clearlyunderstood the instructions in this manual andthe relevant safety
instructions.
Intended use of equipment
Those inchargeof the HiPerGuardMV UPSshall ensurethattheproduct is onlyused asspecified in the
contractualdocuments, operated under the conditions stipulated in the technicalspecifications andon
the rating plateof the product, and serviced in the intervals as specified by ABB.
Use of theHiPerGuard MV UPSoutside the scope of the specifications is not permitted and canleadto
malfunction or hazardous situations. Intended equipment usealso implies that only spare parts
recommended and approvedby ABB maybe used.Unauthorized modifications andconstructional
changes of theHiPerGuardMV UPS cancause malfunction and result in hazardous situations. Therefore,
such modifications are not permitted.
Quality certificates and applicable standards
The following certificatesand conformity declarations are availablefrom ABB:
– ISO 9001certificatesstating that ABB Ltd in Napier has implemented and maintains amanagement
systemthat fulfils the requirements of the normative standards.
– EC conformity declaration.
– List of the standards the MVUPS complieswith:
•IEC62040-3 VI SS 111.
• IEC62477-2.
•IEC61000-6-2.
•WEEE.
• IEC60076 (for themedium voltage magnetics).
Items covered by delivery
Deliverycomprises the following items:
– HiPerGuardMV UPSlow voltage Power Conversion Unit (PCU). This is a plinth with six enclosures
already installed and interwired.The sixenclosures are: DCT enclosure, APS enclosure, Utility
enclosure,3 x PE120 enclosures.
– HiPerGuard MV UPS Medium Voltage Magnetics (MVM) enclosure.
– Nuts, bolts, washers, brackets, plinth covers andothermetalwork partsrequiredto interconnect PCU
to MVM enclosure.
– Communicationsand fanpower cables tointerconnect PCU to MVM enclosure.
– Fiber cabletointerconnect HiPerGuard MV UPS to Medium Voltage Switchgear enclosure.

Identifying the delivery
The HiPerGuard and accessories are identified by the type code printed on the rating label. The label
provides information on the HiPerGuard MV UPS ratedvoltage,frequency, rated current and auxiliary
power supply.
