1. Lieferumfang
Das Meerwasserkomplettsystem Cubicus CF hat fol enden Lieferumfan :
- Aquarium 50 x 60 x 50 cm
- Unterschrank mit Unterschrankfilter

- Förderpumpe Ocean Runner 1200
- Beleuchtun aquareefLED
Nicht im Lieferumfan enthalten sind Zeitschaltuhr, Heizun und eine Steckdosenleiste.
2. Aufstellen des Aquariums
Das Aquarium kann direkt auf den im Lieferumfan enthaltenen Cubicus Stand estellt werden.
Zuvor sollte man aber die Schrankplatte und die Unterseite des Aquariums von Schmutz befreien,
damit es nicht zum Platzen der Bodenscheibe durch Sandkörner oder ähnlich robe Partikel kommt.
Das Aquarium wird zunächst mit klarem Wasser ereini t.

Im Cubicus CF befindet sich hinter der schwarzen Scheibe, an der die Beleuchtun montiert wird,
ein Überlaufsystem bestehend aus Überlaufschacht mit Kämmen, einem eschlitzten Rohr, durch
das das Wasser zum Filter elan t, einem Notüberlauf und der neben dem Überlaufschacht
an ebrachten Rückförderleitun . Im Unterschrank befindet sich ein Ku elhahn, der leicht
eschlossen werden muss, um das Wasser im Überlaufkasten anzustauen. Schließt man zu stark
oder ist der Rücklauf aus ir endeinem Grunde verstopft, stei t das Wasser im Aquarium an und
läuft durch den Notüberlauf zum Filterbecken. In solch einem Fall ist der Ku elhahn weiter zu
öffnen oder eine etwai e Verstopfun zu beseiti en. Produziert der Überlauf laute Geräusche, muss
der Hahn weiter eschlossen und das Wasser somit stärker an estaut werden, damit keine Luft
mit erissen wird. Zumindest in der Anfan sphase muss hier re elmäßi kontrolliert und notfalls
nachjustiert werden.
Mit Hilfe der mit elieferten PVC-Rohre mit an einer Seite aus eformten Schlüssel zur Aufnahme der
Muttern der Durchführun en (Tankverschraubun en) können diese Muttern im Überlaufkasten bzw.
Aquarium fest an ezo en oder elöst werden. Die Durchführun en müssen entsprechend Abb. 1
montiert werden. Vor Inbetriebnahme rundsätzlich nachziehen. Die Mutter des Notüberlaufs ist

von unten anzuschrauben. Der PVC-Rohr-Schlüssel kann aus der Kammer des Filterbeckens von
unten über das Rohr des Notüberlaufs eschoben werden. Gleitrin und Mutter werden zuvor von
Hand an ebracht und so weit wie mö lich an ezo en. Der Kunststoff leitrin muss bei allen
Durchführun en immer auf der Seite der drehbaren Mutter, die Gummidichtun auf der
ent e en esetzten Seite der Scheibe an ebracht sein.

In dem auf esteckten Bo en der Rückförderleitun befindet sich ein blaues Fittin . Hier wird Luft
an esau t, sobald die Förderpumpe im Unterschrank ausfällt. Dies verhindert, dass sich
kommunizierende Röhren bilden und durch rücklaufendes Wasser das Filterbecken überläuft.
Beim Start des Aquariums füllt man dieses zunächst solan e mit Wasser, bis das Filterbecken im
vorderen Teil 10 - 12 cm hoch mit Wasser efüllt ist und startet dann die Förderpumpe. Sinkt der
Wasserstand im Filterbecken ab, füllt man bis zum enannten Maximum nach. Es muss
ausreichend Platz verbleiben, damit das beim Ausfall oder Abstellen der Förderpumpe
nachströmende Wasser noch ins Filterbecken passt.
4. Der Abschäumer
Der Abschäumer wird mit der Halteeinheit an die Rückwand der Filterkammer (siehe Abb. 1)
ehän t.

4. . Grundlagen
Bei der Eiweißabschäumun werden or anische Verschmutzun en des Aquarienwassers, z. B.
Eiweißverbindun en aus den Ausscheidun en der Tiere, als monomolekularer Film an feine
Luftblasen an ela ert. Diese Luftblasen werden so in das Reaktionsrohr ein eblasen, dass sie,
mö lichst im Ge enstrom, eine lan e Verweilzeit im Wasser haben. Mit or anischen Verbindun en
an ereichert, stei en sie nun nach oben und bilden einen festen Schaum, der im Schaumrohr
entwässert wird und schließlich in den Schaumtopf hinein befördert wird. Auf diese Weise lassen
sich wirksam or anische Verunreini un en aus dem Aquarienwasser entfernen, ohne dass sie in
den biolo ischen Reini un szyklus einbezo en werden.
Die Disper atorpumpe des Turboflotors Blue 500 sau t das Wasser direkt aus der Filterkammer
selbsttäti an, vermischt es im Kreisel ehäuse mit Luft, die durch den dort entstandenen
Unterdruck an eso en und vom Aqua Medic Fadenrad (5) in feinste Luftblasen zerschla en wird.
Dieses Wasser-Luft-Gemisch wird dann in das Reaktionsrohr des Eiweißabschäumers
hinein epumpt, wo sich die or anischen Inhaltsstoffe an die Blasen anla ern und ein Schaum
entsteht, der schließlich in den Schaumbecher hinein edrückt wird. Das ereini te Wasser fließt
oben aus dem Abschäumer heraus und wird über die Ablaufrinne (5a) zurück ins Aquarium bzw. ins
Filterbecken eleitet.

4.4. Unterbringung in der Filterkammer (siehe Abb. 1)
Der Turboflotor Blue 500 wird mit der Halteeinheit an der Rückwand der Filterkammer an ebracht.
Die Ablaufrinne (5a) des Abschäumers sollte mit ihrer Unterkante knapp über dem Wasserspie el
sein.
4.5. Inbetriebnahme/Betrieb
Ist der Abschäumer richti montiert, kann er in Betrieb enommen werden. Nach Einschalten der
Pumpe wird automatisch Luft ein ezo en. Zur Verminderun der Geräuschentwicklun kann der
Luftansau schlauch auf den blauen Anschlussstutzen des im Lieferumfan enthaltenen
Schalldämpfers esteckt werden. Den Schalldämpfer befesti t man mit Hilfe der Halterun (15) an
der Rückseite der Filtertrennwand. Bitte die Platte an der ewünschten Stelle mit einem trockenen
Tuch abwischen, die Folie von der Klebeseite der Halterun abziehen und Halterun fest andrücken.
Die Luft wird durch das rotierende Fadenrad in feinste Luftblasen zerschla en. Darüber hinaus wird
durch diese Konstruktion die ansonsten starke Geräuschentwicklun vermieden. Nach der ersten
Inbetriebnahme dauert es eini e Stunden, bis sich ein erster Schaum im Schaumrohr des
Schaumtopfes bildet. Dies lie t an einer chemischen Reaktion des Plexi lases mit dem
Aquarienwasser. Es muss dort erst ein Ladun saus leich stattfinden. Nach spätestens 24 Std. sollte
lan sam, aber leichmäßi Schaum in den Schaumbecher hinein eschoben werden. Die
ab eschäumte Men e sowohl an Flüssi keit sowie or anischen Substanzen ist natürlich von der
Belastun des Aquariums abhän i .
4.6. Störungen
Regulierung
Der Abschäumer kann mit dem Wasserstandsre ler auf optimale Funktion ein estellt werden.
Dabei wird der Wasserstand im Abschäumer an die Schaumproduktion an epasst. Ist der Schaum
zu nass, wird der Wasserstandsre ler (4) weiter eöffnet und dadurch der Wasserpe el esenkt.
Bei zu trockenem Schaum verfährt man um ekehrt.
Luftblasen im Auslauf
Wird der Abschäumer bei einem bestehenden Aquarium nach erüstet, kann es sein, dass im
Wasser hohe Men en or anische Stoffe elöst sind. Dies führt zu extrem kleinen Luftblasen im
Abschäumer. Diese kleinen Luftblasen entfernen die or anischen Stoffe zwar zuverlässi , es kommt
jedoch vor, dass eini e mit in den Ablauf erissen werden. Dies stört im Aquarium. Spätestens
nach eini en Ta en hat sich die Konzentration der or anischen Stoffe im Becken auf so niedri e
Werte vermindert, dass der Abschäumer normal zu arbeiten be innt.
In neu eingerichteten Aquarien findet man selten eine vernünftige Einstellung. Der
Abschäumer „kocht“ entweder über oder „brodelt“ ohne Schaumbildung vor sich hin.
Das ist normal und erledigt sich, sobald das Becken besetzt wird.
Eini e Frostfuttersorten können den leichen Effekt hervorrufen, wenn das Futter vor dem
Verfüttern nicht auf etaut und espült wird. Die Luftblasen verschwinden dann aber kurze Zeit
nach der Fütterun von selbst wieder.
Sind der Luftansau stutzen oder der Luftschlauch mit Salzresten oder Kalkabla erun en bele t,
wird weni er Luft und mehr Wasser an esau t. In diesem Fall beides vollständi reini en.
Feuchter Schaum
Bei frisch an esetztem Meerwasser, bei Zusatz schaumbildender Aufbereitun smittel und bei hoher
Belastun kann es vorkommen, dass zu viel zu nasser Schaum in den Schaumbecher edrückt
wird. Leeren Sie den Schaumbecher in kurzen Abständen. Nach einem Ta ist die Belastun meist
ab ebaut und die Schaumproduktion re elt sich. Wasserstand im Abschäumer mittels Drehre ler
(4) senken. Eventuell Luftansau düse, Schlauchanschluss und Schlauch von Abla erun en
befreien.

Trockener Schaum/keine Luftblasen
Zu weni bzw. zu trockener Schaum hat eventuell ein verschmutztes Fadenrad bzw. eine
verschmutzte Lufteinzu sdüse als Ursache. Beides sor fälti reini en. Druckstutzen an Pumpe
abschrauben. Falls kein Reini un sproblem, mit Drehre ler (4) Wasserstand im Abschäumer
erhöhen.
4.7. Wartung
Der Schaumbecher sollte bei Bedarf, dies bedeutet bei starker Belastun tä lich, ansonsten einmal
wöchentlich, ereini t werden. Das ei entliche Reaktionsrohr des Abschäumers braucht nur
ele entlich esäubert zu werden. Die Disper atorpumpe muss re elmäßi aus ebaut und
ereini t werden, damit die Luftleistun nicht beeinträchti t wird. Dazu wird die Pumpe ab ezo en
und das esamte Kreisel ehäuse und das Fadenrad mit sauberem Wasser aus espült. Auch die
Lufteinzu sdüse sollte dann mechanisch ereini t und mit frischem Wasser espült werden.
5. Beleuchtung
LED-Beleuchtung aquareefLED (siehe separate Anleitung)
Die aquareefLED wird mit drei Schrauben an den mit elieferten Halter an eschraubt und dieser
mitti auf die Trennscheibe zur Filterkammer esetzt. Mit Hilfe der beiden Halteschrauben und dem
Kunststoffstreifen wird die Leuchte an der Trennscheibe befesti t.
6. Betrieb des Aquariums
Als Zubehör zum Betrieb des Cubicus CF empfehlen wir Ihnen unsere Reef Life Reihe:
•Reef Life Calcium dient zur Versor un der Korallen mit lebensnotwendi em Kalk und
Spurenelementen.
•Reef Life Iodine hat sich für die Pfle e vieler Korallen ebenfalls als unentbehrlich erwiesen.
Beide Präparate kombiniert und re elmäßi an ewendet, sind sie ein Garant für erfol reiche
Meeresaquaristik.
Setzen Sie Ihr Meerwasser mit Osmosewasser an, um Al enprobleme durch Kieselsäuren,
Phosphate und Nitrate von Be inn an zu minimieren. Meersalz der Firma Aqua Medic ist aus Salzen
mit hoher Reinheit zusammen esetzt. Auf diese Weise unterstützen sie den Aquarianer bei seinen
Bemühun en, den Gehalt der oben an eführten Stoffe mö lichst niedri zu halten.
Die Befesti un von Steinen und Korallen elin t problemlos mit dem Unterwasserkleber Reef
Construct.
7. Garantie
AB Aqua Medic GmbH ewährt eine 12-monati e Garantie ab Kaufdatum auf alle Material- und
Verarbeitun sfehler des Gerätes. Auf die Dichti keit des Beckens ewähren wir eine Garantie von
drei Jahren. Als Garantienachweis ilt der Ori inal-Kaufbele . Während dieser Zeit werden wir das
Produkt kostenlos durch Einbau neuer oder erneuerter Teile instand setzen (aus enommen
Frachtkosten). Im Fall, dass während oder nach Ablauf der Garantiezeit Probleme mit Ihrem Gerät
auftreten, wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren Fachhändler.
Diese Garantie ilt nur für den Erstkäufer. Sie deckt nur Material- und Verarbeitun sfehler, die bei
bestimmun s emäßem Gebrauch auftreten. Sie ilt nicht bei Schäden durch Transporte oder
unsach emäße Behandlun , Fahrlässi keit, falschen Einbau sowie Ein riffen und Veränderun en,
die von nicht-autorisierten Stellen vor enommen wurden.

1. Product description

2. Set-Up of the aquarium
The aquarium can be placed directly on the included Cubicus Stand. Beforehand, the cabinet plate
and the lower surface of the aquarium should be cleaned to prevent the bottom pane of lass from
burstin throu h rains of sand or any dust particles.
First of all, the aquarium has to be cleaned with clear water.

In the Cubicus CF, there is an overflow system behind the black panel to which the li ht is
mounted. The system consists of an overflow shaft with combs, a slotted pipe throu h which the
water enters the filter, an emer ency overflow and a return line placed next to the overflow shaft.
In the cabinet, there is a ball valve that has to be sli htly closed to control the water in the
overflow box. If the valve is closed to heavily or the return flow is blocked for some reason, the
water rises in the aquarium and flows to the filter tank throu h the emer ency overflow. In such a
case, the ball valve has to be opened a bit further and all blocka es have to be eliminated. If the
overflow makes loud noises, the ball valve has to be closed a bit more so the water is bottled up

stron er so that no air is dra ed alon . At least in the initial phase this has to be controlled
re ularly and, if necessary, to be adjusted.
With the supplied PVC tubes with moulded keys on one side for holdin the nuts of the bushin s
(tank fittin s), these nuts can be ti htened or released in the overflow box or aquarium. The
bushin s have to be installed accordin to Fi . 1. Always re-ti hten before use. The nut of the
emer ency overflow has to be screwed from the bottom. The PVC tube key can be pushed out of
the chamber of the filter tank from underneath over the tube of the emer ency overflow. The slide
rin and nut have to be mounted manually beforehand and ti htened as much as possible. The
rubber slide rin must always be attached to the side of the rotable nut, the rubber asket on the
opposite side of the panel.

There is a blue fittin in the mounted bend of the return line. Here, air is sucked in when the pump
in the cabinet fails. This prevents the formation of communicatin pipes and an overflow of the
filter tank by returnin water.
When startin the aquarium, water has to be filled in until the filter tank is filled up to 10 – 12 cm
in the front part and then the pump has to be started. If the water level in the filter tank
decreases, water has to be filled in until the a.-m. maximum is reached. Take care that enou h
space is left so that the inflowin water in case of failure or shutdown of the circulation pump still
fits into the filter tank.

4. The skimmer
The skimmer is hooked with the holdin unit to the rear wall of the filter chamber (please refer to
Fi . 1).

4. . Theory
Protein skimmin is a method of physical water treatment. It uses a phenomenon known from our
daily experience: the adhesion of surface active substances to air water layers. If we add a drop of
oil to a water surface, a thin film is produced with a thickness of only one molecule. Surface active
compounds like proteins behave in the same way. The Turboflotor Blue 500 uses its air bubbles to
create a lar e water surface for the waste substances to attach themselves to. These air bubbles
are forced into the reactor-pipe in a such a way that they under o a lon contact time within the
counter-current. Enriched with or anic substances, they rise to the top and form a firm foam that
is dehydrated and pushed into the collection cup. This method removes or anic wastes from the
aquarium water before they become part of the biolo ical waste treatment cycle.
The Turboflotor’s venturi pump draws the water out of the filter chamber, mixes it with air in the
pump housin which is then cut into small air bubbles by the Aqua Medic mesh wheel (5). This
water/air mixture is then pumped into the reaction pipe where the or anic substances are taken up
by air bubbles. Foam is formed and pushed into the foam cup. The purified water leaves the
skimmer via outlet and is directed back to the aquarium or filter sump by the drain utter (5a).

4.4. Set-up in a filter chamber (refer to Fig. 1)
The Turboflotor Blue 500 is hooked with the holdin unit to the rear wall of the filter chamber. The
drain utter (5a) of the skimmer should be placed just above the water level with the lower ed e.
4.5. Starting/Operation
The system can be started when the Turboflotor is correctly installed. After switchin on the pump,
air is automatically drawn into the skimmer. To minimize the noise level, connect the air inlet tube
with the blue connectin piece of the silencer supplied. Fix the silencer with the holdin unit (15)
on the back of the filter separatin wall. Please wipe the plate with a dry cloth, take off the foil of
the stickin side of the holdin unit and press it firmly.
The mesh wheel breaks the air into small bubbles. This method eliminates the reater proportion of
noise. After the initial start, some hours may pass before the first foam is pushed into the
collection cup. This is due to a reaction between the surface of acrylic lass and aquarium water.
Equilibrium of electrical char es takes place. After a maximum of 24 hours, the foam should be
pushed evenly into the collection cup. The quantity of liquid and or anic substances is dependent
on the pollution of the aquarium.
4.6. Problems
Adjustment
The skimmer is adjusted usin the water level controller so that it works to its optimum. The water
level in the skimmer must be adapted to foam production. If the foam is too wet, the water level
controller (4) has to be further opened and thus the water level lowered. If the foam is too dry, the
process has to be done vice versa.
Air bubbles in the outflow
If the skimmer is added to an existin aquarium, there may be a hi h concentration of or anic
substances already dissolved in the water. This results in very tiny bubbles in the skimmer. These
tiny bubbles remove the or anic substances effectively, however, it may happen that some of
these bubbles are drawn back into the aquarium. After a few days, the concentration of or anic
substances will have decreased to such low levels that this effect will have one and the water flow
is free of air bubbles.
In new set-up aquaria, a reasonable adjustment is very rarely. The skimmer either
„boils“ over or „bubbles“ without foaming power. This is normal and will be settled as
soon as the basin is filled.
Some types of frozen food may have the same effects. It is best to thaw and wash the food prior to
feedin it to the fish. The air bubbles will stop after a short period by themselves.
If the air nozzle or air hose are blocked with salt or lime deposits, less air and more water is
sucked in. In this case, clean both completely.
Wet foam
With freshly prepared sea water or after usin water conditioners or at extremely hi h loadin ,
excessive wet foam may be produced. This wet foam is forced into the cup, requirin more
frequent emptyin than normal. After approx. one day, the aquarium load should be normal and
the skimmer will produce correct foam. Lower the water level in the skimmer by turnin the water
level controller (4). If necessary, clean the air injection nozzle, hose connection and hose of
deposits.
Dry foam / not enough bubbles
Not enou h or too dry foam could be an indication that the mesh wheel or air injection nozzle are
dirty. A thorou h cleanin is recommended. Remove the pressure nozzle from the pump. If it’s not
a problem of cleanin , increase water level inside the skimmer by the water level controller (4).

4.7. Maintenance
The collection cup should be cleaned re ularly (daily or weekly, dependin on the or anic load).
The reaction pipe of the skimmer needs to be cleaned only sometimes. The venturi pump should
also be removed and cleaned re ularly. The pump has to be removed and the complete pump
housin and mesh wheel flushed with clean water. The same procedure should be undertaken with
the air injection nozzle.
5. Illumination
LED Illumination aquareefLED (see separate manual)
The aquareefLED is screwed with three screws on the supplied holder and this has to be set
centrally on the separatin wall of the filter chamber. The lamp is fixed to the separatin wall by
means of the two screws and the plastic strip.
6. Operating the aquarium
For operatin the Cubicus CF, we recommend our Reef Life series as acessories:
•Reef Life Calcium supplies corals with essential calcium and trace elements.
•Reef Life Iodine is essential for the care of many corals.
If both additives are applied combined and re ularly, they uarantee for successful salt-water
aquarist.
We recommend to prepare your sea water with osmosis water in order to minimize from the
be innin al ae problems by silicic acids, phosphates and nitrates. Sea-salt of Aqua Medic is
formulated from hi hly purified compounds. In this way, both products will support you to keep the
content of the above-mentioned substances as low as possible.
The fixin of rocks and corals can easily be done with the underwater adhesive Reef Construct.
7. Warranty
Should any defect in material or workmanship be found within 12 months of the date of purchase
AB Aqua Medic GmbH undertakes to repair or, at our option, replace the defective part free of
char e – always provided the product has been installed correctly, is used for the purpose that was
intended by us, is used in accordance with the operatin instructions and is returned to us carria e
paid. The warranty term is not applicable on the all consumable products.
Proof of Purchase is required by presentation of an ori inal invoice or receipt indicatin the dealer’s
name, the model number and date of purchase, or a Guarantee Card if appropriate. This warranty
may not apply if any model or production number has been altered, deleted or removed,
unauthorised persons or or anisations have executed repairs, modifications or alterations, or
dama e is caused by accident, misuse or ne lect. We re ret we are unable to accept any liability
for any consequential loss.

1. Composition du colis
Le système complet Cubicus CF contient les éléments suivants:
- Aquarium de dimensions: 50 x 60 x 50 cm
- Meuble support avec filtre incorporé

La minuterie, le chauffa e et le bloc multiprise ne sont pas compris dans le colis.
2. Installation de l’aquarium
L’aquarium peut être directement posé sur le meuble support compris dans le colis. Il faut
auparavant nettoyer le plateau du meuble et la face inférieure de l’aquarium, afin d’éviter
l’éclatement de la vitre de fond à cause de rains de sable ou autres objets.
L’aquarium est ensuite nettoyé avec de l’eau pure.

Un système de trop plein se trouve à l’arrière de la vitre noire du Cubicus CF, à laquelle on fixe
l’éclaira e, système composé d’un compartiment de trop plein avec pei ne, un tuyau fendu par
lequel l’eau arrive dans le filtre, un débordement de secours et le tuyau d’approvisionnement situé
à côté du bac de débordement. Dans le meuble se trouve un robinet à bille, qui doit être
lé èrement fermé afin de stocker l’eau dans le tuyau de débordement. En fermant trop ou si le
retour est bouché pour une raison quelconque, le niveau d’eau de l’aquarium au mente et s’écoule
par l’écoulement de secours vers le bac de filtration. Dans une telle situation il faut ouvrir
davanta e le robinet à bille ou éliminer l’obstruction. Si le trop plein est bruyant, il faut fermer le
robinet davanta e et ainsi au menter le stocka e de l’eau, afin que de l’air ne puisse être entraîné.
Il faut le contrôler ré ulièrement du moins durant la phase de démarra e et le réajuster en cas de
besoin.
Il est possible de serrer ou de déserrer plus ou moins les écrous du bac de débordement à l’aide du
tuyau PVC qui possède une clé thermoformée d’un côté (vissa e du bac) pour recevoir les écrous
du passa e. Les passa es doivent être montés selon le schéma 1. Les resserrer soi neusement
avant la mise en service. L’écrou du trop plein de secours est à visser par en dessous. Le tuyau/clé

en PVC peut être fixé par le bas de la chambre du bac de filtration par dessus le tuyau de trop
plein. La ba ue et l’écrou sont fixés auparavant manuellement et serrés au maximum. Le joint en
plastique des passa es doit toujours être fixé du côté de l’écrou vissable, le joint en caoutchouc du
côté opposé de la rondelle.

Dans le coude du tuyau de retour se trouve un raccord bleu. Celui-ci aspire de l’air, dès que la
pompe située dans le meuble s’arrête. Ceci empêche que des communications entre tuyaux
s’établissent et que le bac de filtration ne déborde à cause du retour de l’eau.
Lors de la mise en route de l’aquarium on procède au remplissa e de celui-ci avec de l’eau jusqu’à
ce que la bac de filtration soit rempli avec de l’eau dans la partie avant sur une hauteur de 10 à 12
cm, puis on démarre la pompe. Si le niveau d’eau chute dans le bac de filtration, on procède à son
remplissa e jusqu’au maximum préconisé. Il faut qu’il reste suffisamment de place afin que lors de
la défection ou l’arrêt de la pompe il reste assez de place dans le bac de filtration pour l’eau qui
s’écoule encore.
4. L’écumeur
L’écumeur est suspendu avec support sur la paroi arrière du compartiment filtre (voir photo 1).
