I. GENERAL SAFETY RULES:
1.Ahalfhourlonghands-ontrainingsessionwithqualiedpersonnelis
recommendedbeforeusingHuckequipment.
2.Huckequipmentmustbemaintainedinasafeworkingconditionatall
times.Toolsandhosesshouldbeinspectedatthebeginningofeach
shift/dayfordamageorwear.Anyrepairshouldbedonebyaqualied
repairmantrainedonHuckprocedures.
3.Formultiplehazards,readandunderstandthesafetyinstructionsbefore
installing,operating,repairing,maintaining,changingaccessorieson,
orworkingneartheassemblypowertool.Failuretodosocanresultin
serious bodily injury.
4.Onlyqualiedandtrainedoperatorsshouldinstall,adjustorusethe
assemblypowertool.
5.Donotmodifythisassemblypowertool.Thiscanreduceeectivenessof
safetymeasuresandincreaseoperatorrisk.
6.Donotdiscardsafetyinstructions;givethemtotheoperator.
7.Donotuseassemblypowertoolifithasbeendamaged.
8.Toolsshallbeinspectedperiodicallytoverifyallratingsandmarkings
required, and listed in the manual, are legibly marked on the tool. The
employer/operatorshallcontactthemanufacturertoobtainreplacement
markinglabelswhennecessary.Refertoassemblydrawingandpartslist
forreplacement.
9. Tool is only to be used as stated in this manual. Any other use is
prohibited.

16.Donotabusetoolbydroppingorusingitasahammer.Neveruse
hydraulicorairlinesasahandleortobendorprythetool.Reasonable
careofinstallationtoolsbyoperatorsisanimportantfactorin
maintainingtooleciency,eliminatingdowntime,andpreventingan
accidentwhichmaycauseseverepersonalinjury.
17.Neverplacehandsbetweennoseassemblyandworkpiece.Keephands
clear from front of tool.
18.Toolswithejectorrodsshouldneverbecycledwithoutnoseassembly
installed.
19.Whentwopiecelockboltsarebeingusedalwaysmakesurethecollar
orientationiscorrect.Seefastenerdatasheetforcorrectpositioning.
II. PROJECTILE HAZARDS:
1.Riskofwhippingcompressedairhoseiftoolispneudraulicorpneumatic.
2.Disconnecttheassemblypowertoolfromenergysourcewhenchanging
inserted tools or accessories.
3.Beawarethatfailureoftheworkpiece,accessories,ortheinsertedtool
itselfcangeneratehighvelocityprojectiles.
4.Alwayswearimpactresistanteyeprotectionduringtooloperation.The
gradeofprotectionrequiredshouldbeassessedforeachuse.
5. The risk of others should also be assessed at this time.
6.Ensurethattheworkpieceissecurelyxed.
7.Checkthatthemeansofprotectionfromejectionoffastenerorpintailis
inplaceandoperative.
8.Thereispossibilityofforcibleejectionofpintailsorspentmandrelsfrom
front of tool.
III. OPERATING HAZARDS:
1.Useoftoolcanexposetheoperator’shandstohazardsincluding:
crushing,impacts,cuts,abrasionsandheat.Wearsuitableglovesto
protecthands.
2.Operatorsandmaintenancepersonnelshallbephysicallyabletohandle
thebulk,weightandpowerofthetool.
3. Hold the tool correctly and be ready to counteract normal or sudden
movementswithbothhandsavailable.
4.Maintainabalancedbodypositionandsecurefooting.
5.Releasetriggerorstopstartdeviceincaseofinterruptionofenergy
supply.
6.Useonlyuidsandlubricantsrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
7.Avoidunsuitablepostures,asitislikelyforthesenottoallow
counteractingofnormalorunexpectedtoolmovement.
8.Iftheassemblypowertoolisxedtoasuspensiondevice,makesure
thatxationissecure.
9.Bewareoftheriskofcrushingorpinchingifnoseequipmentisnottted.
IV. REPETITIVE MOTION HAZARDS:
1.Whenusingassemblypowertool,theoperatorcanexperience
discomfortinthehands,arms,shoulders,neckorotherpartsofthe
body.
2.Whenusingtool,theoperatorshouldadoptacomfortableposture
whilemaintainingasecurefootingandavoidawkwardorobalanced
postures.
3.Theoperatorshouldchangepostureduringextendedtaskstohelpavoid
discomfort and fatigue.
4.Iftheoperatorexperiencessymptomssuchaspersistentorrecurring
discomfort,pain,throbbing,aching,tingling,numbness,burning
sensationsorstiness,thesewarningsshouldnotbeignored.The
operatorshouldtelltheemployerandconsultaqualiedhealth
professional.
V. ACCESSORIES HAZARDS:
1.Disconnecttoolfromenergysupplybeforechanginginsertedtoolor
accessory.
2.Useonlysizesandtypesofaccessoriesandconsumablesthatare
recommended.Donotuseothertypesorsizesofaccessoriesor
consumables.
VI. WORKPLACE HAZARDS:
1.Beawareofslipperysurfacescausedbyuseofthetoolandoftrip
hazardscausedbytheairlineorhydraulichose.
2. Proceed with caution while in unfamiliar surroundings; there could be
hiddenhazardssuchaselectricityorotherutilitylines.
3.Theassemblypowertoolisnotintendedforuseinpotentiallyexplosive
environments.
4.Toolisnotinsulatedagainstcontactwithelectricalpower.
5.Ensuretherearenoelectricalcables,gaspipes,etc.,whichcancausea
hazardifdamagedbyuseofthetool.
VII. NOISE HAZARDS:
1.Exposuretohighnoiselevelscancausepermanent,disablinghearing
lossandotherproblemssuchastinnitus,thereforeriskassessmentand
theimplementationofpropercontrolsisessential.
2.Appropriatecontrolstoreducetheriskmayincludeactionssuchas
dampingmaterialstopreventworkpiecefrom‘ringing’.
3.Usehearingprotectioninaccordancewithemployer’sinstructionsandas
requiredbyoccupationalhealthandsafetyregulations.
4.Operateandmaintaintoolasrecommendedintheinstructionhandbook
topreventanunnecessaryincreaseinthenoiselevel.
5.Select,maintainandreplacetheconsumable/insertedtoolas
recommendedtopreventanunnecessaryincreaseinnoise.
6.Ifthepowertoolhasasilencer,alwaysensurethatitisinplaceandin
goodworkingorderwhenthetoolisbeingoperated.
VIII. VIBRATION HAZARDS:
1.Exposuretovibrationcancausedisablingdamagetothenervesand
bloodsupplytothehandsandarms.
2.Wearwarmclothingwhenworkingincoldconditionsandkeephands
warm and dry.
3.Ifnumbness,tingling,painorwhiteningoftheskininthengersor
hands,stopusingthetool,tellyouremployerandconsultaphysician.
4.Supporttheweightofthetoolinastand,tensionerorbalancerinorder
tohavealightergriponthetool.
IX. PNEUMATIC / PNEUDRAULIC TOOL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Airunderpressurecancausesevereinjury.
2.Alwaysshutoairsupply,drainhoseofairpressureanddisconnecttool
fromairsupplywhennotinuse,beforechangingaccessoriesorwhen
makingrepairs.
3.Neverdirectairatyourselforanyoneelse.
4.Whippinghosescancausesevereinjury,alwayscheckfordamagedor
loosehosesandttings.
5. Cold air should be directed away from hands.
6.Wheneveruniversaltwistcouplings(clawcouplings)areused,lockpins
shallbeinstalledandwhip-checksafetycablesshallbeusedtosafeguard
againstpossiblehosetohoseorhosetotoolconnectionfailure.

PULL STROKE
Whentoolisconnectedtotheairsupply,theair
pressureholdsthethrottlevalveintheup(RETURN)
position;airpressureisdirectedtothetopoftheair
piston,keepingitdown.Whenthetriggerispressed,
thethrottlevalvemovesdowntothePULLposition,
andpressurizedairisdirectedtothebottomoftheair
piston,causingittomoveupward(seeabove).Theair
abovetheairpistonisexhaustedanddirectedthrough
thecenterofthethrottlevalveandoutthebottomof
thetool(throughthemuer).
Asthehydraulicpistonrodmovesupward,acolumnof
pressurizeduidisforcedintohead,whichmovesthe
pullpistonrearward.Theattachednoseassemblymoves
withthepullpistontostartfastenerinstallation.
RETURN STROKE
Whenfastenerinstallationiscompleted,thetriggeris
released.Airpressure,withtheassistanceofaspring,
sendsthethrottlevalvetotheup(RETURN)position.
Pressurizedairisre-directedtothetopoftheairpiston
(seeabove),causingitandthehydraulicpistonrodto
movedownward.
Theairfrombelowthepistonisexhaustedthroughthe
bottomofthetool.Thepistonandhydraulicpistonrod
movedownward,hydraulicpressureisreversed,and
thepullpistonisreturnedforward.Thedampervalve
impedesoilowatpinbreakhelpingprevent“ToolKick”.

Preparation for Use
WARNINGS:
forcibly from rear of tool. Unshielded eyes, especially, may be
pintails. If there is any chance of a projectile-like ejection, always
point rear of tool in a safe direction, or be sure there is some
structure that will stop ejecting pintails.
To avoid pinch points, be sure there is adequate clearance for tool
and operator’s hands before proceeding. Tool moving toward
clearance is limited.
The 2024seriesoftoolsshipwithaplugintheair
inletconnector.Theconnectorhas1/4”-18femalepipe
threadstoaccepttheair-hosetting.Huckrecommends
quick-disconnectttingsanda1/4”inside-diameter
airhose.Theairsupplyshouldhavealter-regulator-
lubricatorunitandaccessto90psi(6.2 bar),capableofa
owrateof8.5CFM(241 l/m).NOTE:Quick-disconnect
ttings and air hoses are not available for purchase
from Huck International, Inc. Huck includes an air
hose (P/N 115436) to facilitate immediate tool use.
1. Removetheshippingplugfromairinletconnector
andaddafewdropsofanapprovedhydraulicuid.
2. Screwthequick-disconnectttingintotheairinlet
connector.
3. Set the airpressureontheregulatorto90psi
(6.2 bar), and connect the air hose to the air inlet
connector and the tool.
4. Press and release the trigger a few times to cycle the
tool.
5. Disconnecttheairhosefromthetool,andremove
theretainingnut.Selectthepropernoseassembly
for the fastener being installed.
6. Screwthecolletassembly(includingthelockcollar
andshimifapplicable)ontothespindleandtighten
with a wrench.
7. Slidetheanviloverthecolletassemblyandintothe
counterbore.Slidetheretainingnutovertheanvil,
and screw the nut onto the head.
8. Connect the air hose to the tool and install fasteners
inatestplateofproperthicknesswithpropersize
holes.Inspectthefasteners.
Ifthefastenersdonotpassinspection,consultthe
Troubleshootingsectiontoinvestigatepossiblecauses.
NOTE: On older nose assemblies with lock collars, use
Loctite®243™ on collet threads, because the 2024
pull piston does not have staking holes. Refer to
the nose assembly drawings that shipped with nose
assemblies.
CAUTION: Do not use TEFLON®tape on pipe threads. Tape can

Operating Instructions
Read all of these instructions in order to ensure the safe operation of this equipment.
This section details installing MAGNA-GRIP®and Huck
BlindFasteners.ReviewallCAUTIONsandWARNINGs
priortoinstallingthesefasteners.Ifthetoolmalfunctions,
consult the Troubleshootingsectionbeforeattempting
anyrepairs.NOTE:Reasonable care of tools by
operators is an important factor in maintaining
eciency and reducing downtime.
To install a MAGNA-GRIP Fastener:
1. Placeapinintheworkpieceandplacethecollarover
thepin.
NOTE:If the collar has one tapered end, that end
must be out toward tool; not next to the sheet.
2. Holdthepinin the hole andpushthenoseassembly
ontothepinprotrudingthroughthecollaruntilthe
noseanviltouchesthecollar.
3. Press and hold the trigger until the collar is swaged
andthepintailbreaks.
4. Releasethetrigger;thetoolwillperformitsRETURN
stroke.
Thepressureisre-directed;thepistonmovesforward;and
thetoolispushedothefastenerandreadyforthenext
installation cycle.
To install a Huck Blind Fastener:
1. Placeafastenerintheworkpieceorintheendofthe
nose assembly.
NOTE:The tool or nose assembly must be
held against, and at a right angle (90°) to, the
workpiece.
2. Press and hold the trigger until the fastener is
installedandthepintailbreaks.
3. Releasethetrigger;thetoolwillperformitsRETURN
stroke.
Thepressureisre-directed;thepistonmovesforward;and
thetoolispushedothefastenerandreadyforthenext
installation cycle.

CAUTION:
Make sure the tool is properly re-assembled before use.

maintenance of the tool, nose assembly, hoses, trigger
and control cord, and POWERIG®willensureyourtool’s
properoperationandextenditslife.
NOTE:Huck tools should be serviced only by
personnel who are thoroughly familiar with its
operation.
- Servicethetoolinaclean,well-lightedarea.Take
specialcaretopreventcontaminationofpneumatic
and hydraulic systems.
- Haveavailableallnecessaryhandtools(standardand
special),abrass drift and wood block, and a soft-jaw
vise. See .
- Carefullyhandleallparts.Beforereassembly,examine
them for damage and wear.
- Disassembleandassembletoolcomponentsina
straightline.DoNOTbend,cock,twist,orapplyundue
force.
- HavetheappropriateSpare Parts Service Kit
(2024KIT or 2024LVKIT)availablewhenservicing
thetool;itincludesimportantperishableparts.Other
components,asexperiencedictates,shouldalsobe
available.See.
- ApplyLoctite®243 Threadlocker (Huck P/N 508567)
toglandthreads.ApplyLoctite®271-05 (Huck P/N
503657)tonutsandlocknut(P/N505420);torqueto
25–30 ft.-lbs.
- Smear LUBRIPLATE®130-AA(Huck P/N 502723)or
SUPER-O-LUBE®(HuckP/N505476)onrings and
matingpartstoeaseassembly.
- ApplyThreadmate®(HuckP/N508517)topipe
threadsandquick-disconnectttings.

DAILY
- Huckrecommendsusingalter-regulator-lubricator
unit.Ifoneisnotbeingused,uncoupletheair
disconnectsandaddafewdropsofhydraulicuidor
a light-weight oil to the air inlet of the tool.
NOTE:If the tool is in continuous use, add a few
drops of uid every 2–3 hours.
- Before connecting an air hose to the tool, clear the air
lines of dirt and water.
- Checkallhosesandcouplingsfordamageandair
leaks;tightenorreplaceifnecessary.
- Check the tool and nose assembly for damage and
airorhydraulicleaks;tighten,repair,orreplaceif
necessary.
- Inspectthetool,hoses,andPOWERIGduring
operationtodetectabnormalheating,leaks,or
vibration.
- Clean nose assemblies inmineralspiritstoclearjaws
andrinsemetalchipsanddirt.Foramorethorough
cleaning,disassemblethenoseassembly.Usea
pointed“pick”toremoveimbeddedparticlesfromthe
pullgroovesofthejaws.
CleanallpartsofanyassemblywithUNITIZEDTM Jaws
inmineralspiritsorisopropylalcoholonly;donotlet
jawscomeincontactwithothersolvents.Donotlet
jaws soak; dry them immediately after cleaning. Huck
recommendsdryingotherpartsbeforere-assembling.
WEEKLY
- Disassemble, clean, and re-assemble nose assembly in
accordancewithapplicableinstructions.
- Checkthetoolandallconnectingpartsfordamage
and uid/airleaks;tightenorreplaceifnecessary.
Maintenance
CAUTION: Replace all seals, wipers, and
rings when the tool is disassembled for any
reason, and at regular intervals, depending
on severity and duration of use.
CAUTION: Do not use TEFLON®tape on
pipe threads. Tape can shred and break free

CAUTION: Damaged jaw teeth, or debris
packed between teeth, will result in
fastener not being installed or being

Disassembly
GENERAL
Thisprocedureisforthecompletedisassemblyofthe
tool.Disassembleonlythosecomponentsnecessaryto
replacedamagedO-rings,Quad-rings,Back-uprings,
andwornordamagedcomponents.Forcomponent
identication,seeFigures2–5,10,and 14.
1. Disconnect the tool from the air source.
2. Unscrewtheretainingnutandremovethenose
assembly.(FollowtheinstructionsontheNose
Assembly Data Sheet.)
3. Unscrewthebleedplugfromtopofthehead/
handle.Turnoverthetool(Figures10&14)and
draintheuidintoacontainer.(Thetoolcanbe
cycledtoclearmorecompletely.)Discardtheuid.

theendcap.

5. Removethrottlearmpivotscrewandleverguard,
and lift out throttle arm. Disconnect the ball end of
the cable assembly from it.
6. Securethetoolupside-downinasoft-jawvise;use
a1/8”hexkeytoremovebutton-headscrewsfrom
themuerendcap.(Figure2)Removeendcapand
gasket,andremovemuerfromtheendcap,and
springfromthethrottlevalve.(Figure14)
7. Tapdownthecylinderheadwithasoftmallet(to
takepressureothering),andremovetheretaining
ring.(Figure2)
8. Screw the button-head screws into cylinder head;
(Figure 2)carefullypryonscrewstoremovehead.
RemovetheO-ring.
9. Pullonlocknutwithvise-gripstoremovetheair
pistonfromcylinder.RemovethepistonQuad-ring.
10. Removebumperfromtheglandassembly.Unscrew
theglandassemblywitha1-3/8”socketwrenchand
extension.
11. Removeretainingringfromgland,andthenpull
outspacerandPolyseal.(Figure2)RemoveO-rings,
Quad-ring,andBack-upring.Liftcylinderassembly
fromthehead/handle.(Figure2)
12. Turnoverthetoolanddraintheuidintoa
container;discardtheuid.
13. Removethrottlevalvefromaircylinder,andremove
theO-rings.(Figure14)
HEAD/HANDLE

1. Unscrewendcap;removespring,spacer,andwiper
seal.(Figure3)
2. Thread the Polyseal Insertion Tool into the rear of
the head/handle. NOTE:See Figure 3 for tool-
specic part numbers.

CAUTION: Always use a soft-jaw vise to
avoid damaging the tool.
CAUTION: Take care to not scratch the
piston, rod, or cylinder when removing.
WARNING: Disconnect the air hose
from the tool before performing any

back of the head/handle; allow clearance, with stand-

7. Connect the air-line to the tool and measure the

If the stroke is less than the length specied in

Re-insertthebleedplugandre-measurethestroke.

in . Install two fasteners to check
the function and installation in a single stroke, or
cycle the tool with a stall nut fully threaded onto
