Evenda®long term care bed.

Read and fully understand these Accessory Instructions before using
the product
The information contained in this manual is required for the proper installation of the equipment. It
will help you protect your product and make sure that the equipment performs to your satisfaction.
The information in this manual is important for your safety and must be read and understood
to help prevent possible injury. Unauthorised modications on any Arjo equipment can a󰀨ect
its safety. Arjo cannot be held responsible for any accidents, incidents or loss of performance
resulting from any unauthorised modication to its products.
Serious incident
If a serious incident occurs in relation to this medical device, a󰀨ecting the user, or the patient,
then the user or patient should report the serious incident to the medical device manufacturer
or the distributor. In the European Union, the user should also report the serious incident to
the Competent Authority in the member state where they are located.
About EV-ACC01
EV-ACC01 is a lifting pole intended to assist patients in positioning themselves on the bed.
The lifting pole is supplied with a strap and handle. EV-ACC01 is suitable for use with
Arjo Evenda long term care bed.

Safety instructions
WARNING
Do not exceed the Safe Working Load of 75 kg
(165 lb).
WARNING
Do not use the lifting pole to push or pull the
bed.
WARNING
Do not suspend other equipment from the
lifting pole.
WARNING
Refer to the bed Instructions for Use to
conrm compatibility before using this
accessory.
WARNING
The lifting pole must be positioned so that the
handle hangs over the middle of the bed.
WARNING
Do not allow the strap and handle to hang
outside the perimeter of the bed.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of patient entrapment, the
head end panel must remain tted at all times
while the lifting pole is installed on the bed.
WARNING
The bed should not be occupied by a patient
while the lifting pole is being tted.
WARNING
Before installing the lifting pole, check that
the bed’s lifting pole sockets are not damaged
in any way.
WARNING
Make sure that the lifting pole and handle are
positioned to suit the size and medical needs
of the patient.
WARNING
The strap and handle must not be used by
persons under twelve years of age.
WARNING
The operational life of the strap and handle
is ve years when used and maintained
in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions. After this time the complete unit
should be replaced.
WARNING
Inspect the strap and handle regularly. If any
sign of wear or damage is found, remove
it from use immediately and replace the
complete unit.

Installation and use
1. Insert the lifting pole into either socket at the head
end of the bed, with the horizontal part of the pole
above the centre of the bed. See Figure 1.
2. Twist the pole so that the notch locates over the
pin at the bottom of the socket.
3. When the lifting pole is correctly installed the
indicator line is level with the top of the socket.
See Figure 2.
4. Fit the lifting strap loop over the horizontal part
of the lifting pole. Make sure that the loop lies
between the projecting pegs at all times.
5. To adjust the height of the handle above the bed,
press the release button and adjust the strap to
the required length. See Figure 3.
WARNING
Do not adjust the strap while a patient is
holding the handle as this may damage the
mechanism. After adjusting the strap, make
sure it locks with an audible “click”.
Do not twist the strap more than 180 as this
may cause premature wear.

Removal
1. Remove the strap and handle.
2. Lift the lifting pole out of the socket.
Cleaning
WARNING
Remove the strap and handle from the lifting
pole before cleaning.
WARNING
Only use approved disinfectants and
cleaning methods. Other products may cause
degradation of the equipment and possibly
premature failure.
WARNING
Use all cleaners and disinfectants with care.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
WARNING
Do not disinfect the strap and handle in
a pressure chamber, autoclave or steam
cleaner as this may damage the product.
Lifting pole: Refer to the bed instructions for use.
Strap and handle: Follow the cleaning and
disinfection procedures recommended by the
manufacturer and your local institutional cleaning and
disinfection protocols.
Care and preventive maintenance
Refer to the bed Instructions for use.
Product weight
The weight of EV-ACC01 including strap and handle
is 8 kg (18 lb).
Safe working load
The safe working load for EV-ACC01 is 75 kg
(165 lb).
End of life disposal
Components that are primarily made up of di󰀨erent
kinds of metal (containing more than 90% metal by
weight) for example sling bars, rails, upright supports
etc., should be recycled as metals.
WARNING
Before cleaning the handle, extend the strap
fully and leave it extended until the handle is
completely dry.
