Connecting to a network page 2-1
Wireless connection
To connect to a wireless network:
1. Connect the bundled ASUS WLAN 802.11n USB adapter to your HD media
player's USB port.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the wireless connection setup.
3. From the Home screen, press the left/right keys / to navigate to Setup, then
press . You may also press to launch the Setup menu.
• The ASUS WLAN 802.11n USB adapter is only included in the package
in some countries/regions.
• Your HD media player's wireless feature only works with the bundled
ASUS WLAN 802.11n USB adapter. If the ASUS WLAN 802.11n USB
adapter is not included in your product package, use wired connection
instead.
4. Navigate to Network and press .
5. Select Wireless Setup and press .

• Before selecting the Peer to Peer (Ad Hoc) mode, ensure the following:

working normally.

7. Select the connection mode.
6. From the list, select an item (Connect 1 ~ Connect 3) to create a connection
prole,thenpress .
• Infrastructure (AP): If you select this mode, your HD media player searches
and displays the list of available wireless networks. From the network list,
select the wireless network that you want to connect to. If required, key in the
network passkey.
• Peer to Peer (Ad Hoc): If you select this mode, your computer can directly
connect to your HD media player without connecting through a wireless router.
This allows you to set up a temporary wireless network.

• WPS (AP): WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) mode allows you to easily set up a
secure and protected wireless network.
To set up WPS:
1. Select either PBC (Push Button) or PIN (Pin code).
• Ensure that both the WLAN adapter and the access point/router that
you want to connect to have the WPS function.
• Refer to the documentation that came with your WLAN adapter and
router for details on using the WPS button (or Push Button).
8. Afterconguringtheconnectionsettings,waitforawhileuntilyourHDmedia
player establishes the wireless connection.
2. If you select PBC (Push Button), press the WPS button on the WLAN
adapter and on the router.
If you select PIN (Pin code), your HD media automatically searches for
theWLANadapter’sPINcode.

Using O!Direct
O!Directallowsyoutostreammedialessuchasmovies,music,orphotosfroma
computerinawiredorwirelessnetworktoahigh-denitionexternaldisplay.
• Ensure that your computer and your HD media player are on the same
subnet mask.
• Ensure that your wired or wireless network connection is working
properly.
• Ensurethattherewallandanyanti-virussoftware/utilityinyour
computer are disabled.
• If the ASUS WLAN 802.11n USB adapter is not included in your
product package, use wired connection instead. For more details on
setting up a wired connection, refer to the user manual included in the
support CD.
Installing O!Direct
To install O!Direct:
1. Place the bundled support CD in your computer's optical disk drive.
2. Double-click the setup.exelefromtheO!Directfolder.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
• IfyourHDmediaplayer'scurrentrmwareversiondoesnotinclude
O!Direct, download the O!Direct utility from the ASUS Support site at
http://support.asus.com
• O!Direct is only available for computers running on Windows®OS.
• You need to reboot your computer after installing or updating O!Direct.
• You can uninstall O!Direct on your computer from Windows®Control
Panel.

To stream media les:

6. Press the Home key to go back to the Home page of your HD media
player.
7. On your computer, select O!Direct from the network list.
8. Onyourcomputer,right-clickthemediale,andclickO!Direct (O!Play Media
Player).
9. Inthedialogboxthatappearsonyourcomputer,keyinthePINnumberinthePin
code eld,andclickOK.ThePINnumberistheHDmediaplayer’sgenerated
PINnumberandisdisplayedonyourhigh-denitionexternaldisplay.
Streaming media les via O!Direct
• Toplaymultipleles,press<Ctrl> + <Shift> + mouse. This command
categorizesyourlesandwillthemplayinthissequence:Movies,
Music, and Photo.
• When you connect to a network via a wireless connection, there may
besomelagorjitterswhenstreamingsomehigh-denitionvideoles.
Suchproblemisduetowirelesssignalinterferenceorinsufcient
bandwidth available in some common home-based wireless routers.
We recommend that you use wired connection (10/100 LAN/RJ-45
cable)forstreaminghigh-denitionvideoles.
If you have already set up your wired or wireless connection, you may
skip steps 1 to 7.

The On-Line Media feature provides online media services, Internet TV stations,
Internet radio stations, podcast media updates, RSS news, directly weather
updates and instant stock inquiry.
Plug in a storage device and instantly build your own photo libraries to share with
family and friends or enjoy anytime. O!Play HD2 works with Picasa and Flickr
right on your TV, so what used to be tiny frames on the PC are now properly huge
mementos to treasure and adore.
