PXDXVW3
AuxiliaryinputAdapterInstallationGuideforVWGroupRadios(NotPrewired)
Revised August 22, 2019
Introduction:
Many VW Group Owners are looking for an easy an effective way of connecting
and listening to their portable audio devices on the factory radio. The PXDXVW3
works on the CD Changer port of select 2002-09 VW Group Double DIN
Radios that are NOT pre-wired for the CD Changer. This adapter works on
Premium 6 and 7 Radios and takes the place of the factory External CD
Changer** or SiriusXM Radio options.
Installation:
Warning! Although not critical, we recommend disconnecting the car battery.
Keep in mind that most Audi/VW radios are coded and will not operate without
the code. Radio code must be available for radio to operate upon reconnection.
1. Remove radio from the dashboard to gain access to the connectors.
2. Special radio removal tools (See Fig. 1) are required to remove these
Radios. (2 pairs)
Fig. 1
Radio Removal Tool
3. To remove slide tools into the Radio slots to second detent position.
Withdraw the radio by pulling outwards.
4. With radio removed disconnect the factory 12-way plug (if present)
from Radio (See Fig. 2 )
Fig. 2
Radio Connectors
Note! Connector (6) as seen in Fig.2 will be occupied if external CD Changer or
SiriusXM options are installed. Disconnecting this plug will remove the factory
option from the system.
5. Connect the 12-way plug from the adapter into the 12-way slot (6) on
radio as illustrated in Fig. 2
Fig. 3
Adapter 12-way plug
6. Connect the black wire from adapter harness to ground
Tip: The radio chassis works well for this application.
7. Connect the 22-way Molex plug on Adapter harness (See Fig. 3) to the
22-way connector on Main Module (See Fig. 4)
Fig. 4
22-way Molex connector
8. Dip switches 1 & 8 must be set “ON” (See Fig. 5) or consult user
manual included with adapter.

9. Connect the 8-pin DIN to RCA OR 8-pin DIN to 3.5mm cable (See Fig.
6) to the Main Module. (See Fig. 7)

10. Route the 3.5mm plug to the front of the dash or location where audio
device will reside (within 6 ft.)
Test Operation:
1. Turn the Radio “ON”
2. Press the “CD”button to enter CD Changer Mode
3. Connect audio device to gray Audio cable (See Fig. 8) or RCA jacks.
Fig. 8
3.5mm plug
4. Search the device for a song and press play.
5. Use radio volume control button to set the playback level.
Warning! Playlist and Track selection is *NOT* possible from the VW
Group radio. You must use the audio devices built-in controls to access
audio files.
6. If correct operation is confirmed go ahead and reinstall Radio
** External or remote CD Changer refers to the optional Changer installed
on the lower dash, center armrest, hatch, trunk etc. (external CD Changer
is not the Changer built-into the head unit)
