1 Information
1.1 General information
Please read these instructions carefully and note the
DANGER, Caution and Note descriptions before installing
the bicycle carrier.
Text with this symbol contains additional useful information.
Audi AG will not accept responsibility in the event of failure
to comply with these assembly instructions.
1.2 Usage and warning notes
WARNING!
♦Texts with this symbol contain information concerning
your safety and how you can reduce the risk of serious
and fatal injuries.
♦Pay special attention to the DANGER symbol. Ensure
that you read the relevant texts thoroughly.
Caution!
♦Text with this symbol contains information on how to
avoid damage to the vehicle.
♦A Caution symbol indicates that failure to follow informa-
tion can lead to vehicle damage.
DANGER!
The procedures and safety guidelines detailed in these in-
structions for the installation, handling and use of the bicy-
cle carrier must be observed without fail.
♦Deviating from these instructions even slightly can
cause the bicycle carrier or the mounted bicycle to come
loose.
♦The bicycle carrier is designed to prevent damage to the
vehicle when components are installed, handled and
used properly.
♦The bicycle carrier may only be installed facing towards
the front of the vehicle.
♦The manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting
from failure to comply with the installation procedure or
guidelines specified.
♦Furthermore, all forms of warranty claim against the
manufacturer are invalidated if installation, handling or
use of the components are not carried out as specified
in these instructions.

Roof load and the load of the bicycle carrier
The maximum load of the bicycle carrier is 17 kg.
♦The bicycle carrier is also suitable for bicycles with disc
brakes.
♦The bicycle carrier is designed for attachment to the vehi-
cle roof rack using the “AUDI T-Nut” system.
Driving with the bicycle carrier installed
Installing the bicycle carrier alters the handling of the vehicle.
The effect of side winds on the vehicle increases and turning
and braking performance are affected.
–Adjust your driving style appropriately.
It is recommended that you do not exceed 130 km/h.
DANGER!
Please observe relevant country-specific specifications.
Remove any loose parts from the bicycle.
Do not exceed the permitted roof load for the vehicle.
Replace damaged components immediately.
Do not use elastic bands!

Increased wind noise can result from driving with the bicycle
carrier attached.
♦The bicycle carrier and the roof rack usually remain in-
stalled even when these are not required. Your vehicle will
consume more fuel due to increased wind resistance.
♦We therefore recommend that you remove both the bicycle
carrier and roof rack from the vehicle when these are not
used.
♦The work to be performed as detailed in these assembly in-
structions may vary as a result of model upgrading meas-
ures. Consequently, possible changes to screw
connections, for instance, should not be ruled out.
♦We reserve the right to make technical changes.
WARNING!
Installing the bicycle carrier alters the handling of the vehi-
cle. The effect of side winds on the vehicle increases and
turning and braking performance are affected.
♦Adjust your driving style appropriately.
♦It is recommended that you do not exceed 130 km/h.
The effect of side winds on the vehicle increases. There-
fore, ensure that you take extra care when driving in strong
side winds:
♦when moving into and out of the slipstreams of lorries
♦when driving past hedgerows, trees, walls and buildings
as well as any other wind barriers
♦when driving over bridges.
Note the altered vehicle height. Pay particular attention to:
♦low hanging branches
♦passages with reduced head-room clearance
♦entrances to garages with reduced head-room clearance
♦height restrictions in multi-storey car parks, under-
ground car parks, bridges, tunnels and underpasses.
Caution!
Both the bicycle carrier and the roof rack must be removed
before using an automated car wash.

Accessing the lashing strap for the rear wheel is more difficult
if the bicycle carrier is mounted on the right-hand side of the
vehicle.
–Check the distance between the two roof racks.
The distance between the roof racks must be between 575
mm and 975 mm, but is usually determined by the carrier bars
and the vehicles.
–Use the key provided to unlock the knob -1- and pull this
out.
–Turn the knob -1- anti-clockwise as far as it will go.
The clamping jaws -2- are now fully open.
–Loosen screws -1- using the hexagon socket screw key -B-
by approx. one rotation and configure the distance be-
tween your roof racks by adjusting the position of the
guide block -2-.
WARNING!
The bicycle carrier may only be installed facing towards the
front of the vehicle.

–Insert the sliding blocks -1- of the bicycle carrier into the
roof racks from the side, and adjust this to the desired
position.
–Tighten the screws on the lock -1- and on the guide block
-2- using the hexagon socket screw key -B- provided.
–Reposition the handle of the hexagon socket screw key -B-
to the long part.
–Tighten the screws on the guide block -1- from under-
neath.
Consider the area affected by opening the boot!
WARNING!
Ensure that the sliding blocks -1- slide completely into the
notches.
Caution!
With some vehicles, the bicycle carrier, once installed, may
obstruct the boot from opening properly.
♦After installing the bicycle carrier, check whether the boot
can be completely opened.

–Remove the bicycle's front wheel ⇒bicycle instruction
manual.
–Loosen the wing screw -1- and move the rear wheel holder
-2- forwards.
–Loosen the lashing strap -3-.
–Insert the bicycle's front forks into the clamping jaws -2-
and place the rear wheel onto the rail of the bicycle
carrier -A-.
–Ensure that the front wheel forks rest evenly against the
bicycle carrier and turn the knob -1- clockwise until the
clamping jaws -2- are fully closed.
–Protect the bicycle from theft and coming loose uninten-
tionally:
♦Insert key -C- and turn to the left as far as it will go
♦Push forward and hold knob -1- in the direction indicated
-arrow- until it engages
♦Turn key -C- to the right and remove.
–Move the rear wheel holder -2- up to the rear wheel and
tighten the wing screw -1-.
–Secure the rear wheel in place using the lashing strap -3-.
Accessing the lashing strap for the rear wheel is more difficult
if the bicycle carrier is mounted on the right-hand side of the
vehicle.
WARNING!
The front wheel forks must rest evenly on the bicycle carri-
er.

–Determine the new vehicle height with the bicycle
attached.
–Pay particular attention to low hanging branches, passages
with reduced head-room clearance, entrances to garages
with reduced head-room clearance, height restrictions in
multi-storey car parks and underground car parks.
WARNING!
Check that the bicycle carrier and the bicycle to be trans-
ported are securely attached:
♦before the start of every journey
♦after the first approx. 10 km of the journey
♦on good roads, approx. every 1000 km
♦on poor-quality roads (vibration) more often.
If secure attachment of the bicycle carrier and the bicycle
are not checked, parts may become loose and even lost,
even if attachment was carried out properly – risk of acci-
dents!
Observe the safety guidelines for the bicycle carrier
⇒page 1.
