Placement and Maintenance
Your Kite Shelf is designed for indoor use on level floors.
Clean wood veneer and steel parts with a moist cloth.
Kite is engineered for easy assembly. Carefully follow this procedure to
prevent any damage. Do not use power tools for assembly of this product.
Step 1
Unpack and identify the parts listed below. The assembly workspace
should be a non-marring surface such as carpet. For missing hardware
pieces, contact BDI Customer Service at: [email protected].

Step 2 - Place shelf A1 on a worktable or non-marring floor. Position shelf rail A2 as shown with holes facing
the back. Important! Make sure the ends of the shelf and rail are aligned. If the rail is not completely aligned
with the end of the shelf, lift the entire rail straight up and reposition.

Step 3 - Place the hex driver T1 into each of the 5 holes and turn clockwise to tighten.

Step 4 - Unscrew the 5 flathead screws that attach the top shelf to the frame using hex driver T1 and set
the top shelf aside.

Step 5- Remove the 5 top caps by un-screwing them by hand.

Step 6 - Thread the 5 uprights C2 into the top of the frame. Use both hands to fully tighten. Make sure the
wall anchor straps are still attached to the frame.

Step 8 - Using a step ladder, place horizontal frame C1 on top of the frame as shown with triangular tabs
facing up. Attach by screwing caps into the tops of the hubs as shown. Use both hands to fully tighten.

Step 7 - Reposition 5th shelf by lowering it in from above with the front edge angled down.

Step 9 - Attach the 5th and 6th level shelves using flathead screws H1 screwing them into the threaded
inserts on the bottom of the shelves from below using hex driver T1.

Warning!
• For safety, the Kite Shelf MUST be attached to the wall.
• Failure to secure your Kite Shelf to the wall could lead to FATAL INJURY.
• NEVER climb the Kite Shelf.
• If you have small children make sure they NEVER climb the Kite Shelf.
Suggestions:
• Use a step ladder to reach items on the top shelf if needed.
• Place heavier objects on the bottom shelves.
• The wall anchor straps should be attached behind the 5th level shelf (or above).
• Enjoy!
