Typical application
OVERVIEW
They’re everywhere: LCD screens that distribute several
images/sounds to entice you to buy a certain product, provide
transportation information at airports and bus stations, or
display banking information or other types of advertising.
Now you can control multiple distributed screens just like
these from one central location!
Perfect for digital signage applications, the HD View Series
modular system narrowcasts high-definition video and stereo
audio from one media player to multiple remote plasma/LCD
screens. It preserves video and sound quality on remote
screens located up to 360 feet (110 m) from the transmitter
using a standard receiver or up to 1000 feet (300 m) from the
transmitter using a long-range receiver. And it provides screen
resolutions up to 1080p HDTV or 1920 x 1440 @ 60 Hz at
speeds up to 57.6 kbps.
Use the HD View anywhere you need to remotely control
multiple screens from a central location. It works in retail,
commerce, leisure, banking, and corporate applications;
conference centers; gas stations; public and government
institutions; and more!
At the source location, the transmitter links to a local
screen and a media player. The media player then links to a
remote content manager via an IP control unit over the
Internet, LAN, or WAN. The RJ-45 ports (there are 1, 8, or
16, depending on the model you have) connect to individual
remote plasma/LCD screens at the display locations via
receivers or via multiple line splitters and receivers.
The complete system.
A complete HD View distribution and control system
consists of three main components: Transmitters (1-Port,
8-Port, or 16-Port), Receivers (Standard, Long, and Dual), and
Line Splitters (Standard and Long). Add Video Tuners to tune
and CATx cable to interconnect the units. The tuner has three
buttons that enable you to scroll left, scroll right, or select
accept.
Control up to 128 remote monitors over CAT5, CAT5e, or
CAT6 cable. Or add video splitters to your system to reach up
to 256 displays. For a simple application (for example, a retail
store system), you can connect the main retail store’s
HDV/stereo audio player to multiple LCD screens at chain
stores. In this case, you need one transmitter and enough line
splitters and receivers to support up to 2, 16, or 32 screens.

Centrally located GUI simplifies management.
Display Data Channel (DDC) signaling enables the
computer to communicate with the monitor to achieve
optimal player-screen configuration. Create and specify up
to 16 screen groups (any screen can belong to more than
one group).
Turn the audio, video, and serial signals on or off at any
display screen from a remote location. Send information to
the individual screens, or get statistics on how long a display
has been in use and its tuning information. Store system
settings for instant topology backup, routine maintenance
and system recovery, and reinstalling settings. Plus, you can
click on the Auto-Detect button on the software’s Topology
tab for an instant topology report.
Supports bidirectional serial control.
Query an individual screen’s event log. Keep tabs on your
advertising’s success—the system tells you when and where
individual screens are working.
Compatible with any serial device, the system supports
TX, RX, CTS, and RTS signals and powers distributed screens
on and off. Because it extends serial devices/touch screens,
by using long-range extenders and splitters, you can locate
display screens up to 1000 feet (300 m) away.
Works with your existing software.
Open system management protocol ensures compatibility
with your digital signage content management software. And
the system works out-of-band, so your network is not bogged
down by transferring large files of images.

WHAT‘S INCLUDED
Recognize any of these situations?
• You wait more than 30 minutes to get through
to a vendor’s tech support.
• The so-called “tech” can’t help you or gives you
the wrong answer.
• You don’t have a purchase order number and the
tech refuses to help you.
• It’s 9 p. m. and you need help, but your vendor’s
tech support line is closed.
According to a survey by Data Communications
magazine, 90% of network managers surveyed say
that getting the technical support they need is extremely
important when choosing a vendor. But even though
network managers pay anywhere from 10 to 20% of their
overall purchase price for a basic service and support
contract, the technical support and service they receive falls
far short of their expectations—and certainly isn’t worth
what they paid.
At Black Box, we guarantee the best value and the
best support. You can even consult our Technical Support
Experts before you buy if you need help selecting just
the right component for your application.
Don’t waste time and money—call Black Box today.
