Only use Button/coin cell 3V lithi-
um CR2032 battery. Do not use
any other button/coin cells or other forms of electrical power
supply.
Ensure that battery replacement
is carried out properly. There is a
risk of explosion.
Chemical Burn Hazard. Keep bat-
teries away from children. This
product contains a lithium button/coin cell battery. If a new
or used lithium button/coin cell battery is swallowed or en-
ters the body, it can cause severe internal burns and can lead
to death in as little as 2 hours. If you think a battery might
have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body,
seek immediate medical attention.

connectivity compartment does not close securely, stop us-
ing the product, remove the battery, and keep it away from
children.
When discarding batteries, insu-
late the ‘+’ and ‘–’ terminals with
insulating tape. When disposed of improperly, lithium bat-
teries may short, causing them to become hot, burst or ignite.
Never dispose of the batteries in a
fire or expose to high heat. The
batteries may explode.
Follow all instructions and warn-
ings provided by your Bluetooth®
device manufacturer. Failure to follow recommended pro-
cedures could result in personal injury or property damage.
Exercise extreme caution when
using Bluetooth® devices to con-
trol or change power tool functions. Operation of the de-
vice may be in a different area than the paired power tool.
Paired devices may have functionality which allows timed
event programming, including automatically powering on
(e.g. flood light). Depending upon the power tool, these un-
attended operations or function changes without direct line
of sight to the paired tool could result in personal injury or
property damage.

Always check tool settings before
use. Settings may be different
than when the tool was last used. The connectivity module
enables transfer of data and settings based on Bluetooth®
wireless technology. With module installed, select tool set-
tings may be changed remotely by a paired Bluetooth® de-
vice and user installed app.
The connectivity module GCY42
is equipped with a radio interface.
Local operating restrictions, e.g. in military sites or hos-
pitals, are to be observed. Transmitters have demonstrat-
ed an ability to unintentionally interfere with other devices.

AThe mobile terminal devices must be compatible with Blue-
tooth® Low Energy devices (version 4.2) and support the Ge-
neric Access Profile (GAP).
BThe signal range may vary greatly depending on external condi-
tions. The Bluetooth® range may be significantly weaker inside
closed rooms and through metallic barriers (e.g. walls, shelv-
ing units, cases, etc.).

Assembly
Always remove the power tool bat-
tery or disconnect the plug from
the power source before installation or removal of com-
munications module. Such preventive safety measures re-
duce the risk of starting the tool accidently.
A. Unlock the cover of con-
nectivity module 4on the
power tool by turning it
counterclockwise with a
flat-head screwdriver or
a large coin. Using unsuit-
able objects can damage
the electronics or the
cover.
B. Lift the cover of connec-
tivity module 4and put it
aside.
C. Pull out the placeholder

Reinsert the placeholder
again if the communications
module is removed.

D. Insert the GCY42 module 2 into the power tool. Make
sure that the terminals inside the tool and the module
align.

F. Lower the cover 4into the tool.

the cover and the tool align and the cover clicks in place.

Operating instructions
Observe all warnings and safety
instructions when using connec-
tivity module. Failure to follow recommended procedures
could result in personal injury or property damage.
Once the button/coin cell battery 1has been inserted, the
GCY42 will broadcast in the following intervals:
– 8 seconds when in broadcasting mode, powered by but-
ton/coin cell battery;

– 1 second when in broadcasting mode, powered by tool
battery;
– Continuous broadcast when connected to app;
The Bluetooth® signal will only be interrupted when the GCY
30-4has no powersupply(button/coincell and/or tool battery).
Tool presence is indicated within the range of the GCY42
Bluetooth™ transmitter, it is not provided by GPS.
Installing and setting up ‘Bosch Toolbox’ app
Before you can use the GCY42, you need to install the
Bosch Toolbox app.
– Download the Bosch Toolbox app via the appropriate
app store (Apple App Store, Google Play Store).
Note: A user account is required in the respective app store.
– Tap on the My Tools tile in the Toolbox app home screen.
– The screen of your mobile terminal device displays all
further steps to connect the power tool to the terminal
device.
Note: First, fully complete the tutorial for the app. This will
provide you with a better overview of the connection pro-
cess and the use of the connectivity functionalities.
Note: The data transfer must be approved by the user.

tionalities in the Bosch Toolbox application (app) or in the
manual of the power tool used.
Data Transmission via Bluetooth®
The transmission interval of the GCY42 is approximately 8
seconds. Depending on ambient conditions, several trans-
mission intervals may be required before the GCY42 is de-
tected. If the GCY42 is not detected, check the following:
Is the distance to the
mobile terminal device too
great?
Reduce the distance be-
tween the mobile terminal
device and the GCY42.
Is the battery too low or
drained? Change the battery.

Battery Replacement
The app will notify the user
before the button/coin cell
battery is completely used
up.

large coin. Using unsuitable
objects can damage the
electronics or the cover.

C. Pull out the used button/coin cell battery 1 and dispose of
properly. Only remove used battery using your fingers. Do
not use sharp objects to remove used battery.
D. Insert the new button/coin cell battery 1into the GCY42
module 2with the plus terminal facing upwards. It is not
necessary to push in the battery.
E. Lower the cover 4into the tool.
F. Lock the cover 4in place by turning it clockwise with a
flat-head screwdriver or a large coin until the triangles on
the cover and the tool align and the cover clicks in place.
