The BOYA BY-M1S is a universal lavalier microphone,
which can be used with cameras, smartphones, and
other recording devices.
It is designed for reliable and trouble-free performance.
In order to ensure you have a good experience, please
read this manual thoroughly and keep it for future
reference.

①Omnidirectional mic capsule
- Picks up sound. The sound enters through the
holes in the top of the capsule.
②Camera/Smartphone switch
- Camera: for use with cameras or other devices
with 3.5mm TRS audio input jack.
- Smartphone: for use with smartphones or other
devices with 3.5mm TRRS audio input jack.
③3.5mm connector
- Connects the microphone to a smartphone,
camera, camcorder, or other recording devices.
④Clothing clip
⑤Foam windscreen

• Attach the microphone to the front of your clothing with the
clothing clip, about 20cm (8 inches) from your mouth.
- It is recommended that you use the foam wind screen at
all times to avoid wind noise, even when recording inside.

• Insert the microphone into the plastic loop on the
clothing clip.

Tips and notes:
Using the microphone with a smartphone
①Tape a loose loop of the microphone cord to the inside
of your clothing.
This provides additional strain relief for the microphone
cord and isolation from unwanted noise.
②Before recording an important event, record and play back
a short test clip with the microphone attached to ensure
audio recording is functioning properly.
1. Attach the microphone to your clothing (see previous
instructions).
2. Slide the Camera/Smartphone switch to Smartphone.
3. Plug the 3.5mm connector into the audio jack of your
smartphone.
4. Open an audio or video recording app and start recording.

1. Attach the microphone to your clothing (see previous
instructions).
2. Slide the Camera/Smartphone switch to Camera.
3. Plug the 3.5mm connector into the audio input jack of
your DSLR, Point and Shoot camera, or camcorder, and
start lming.
