1 CONVERSION INSTRUCTIONS
These conversion instructions describe the replacement of control
head Type 1066 with control head Type 8681. Keep these instructions
in a location which is easily accessible to every user, and make these
instructions available to every new owner of the device.
The conversion instructions contain important safety
information.
Failure to observe these instructions may result in hazardous
situations.
▶The conversion instructions must be read and understood.
For further information on the application, the authorized
use, the technical specifications, start-up and functions as
well as the provisions for packaging, transport, storage and
disposal, please refer to the operating instructions for the
type concerned.

Basic safety instructions
2 BASIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
These safety instructions do not make allowance for any
• contingencies and events which may arise during the assembly,
operation, and maintenance of the devices.
• local safety regulations – the operator is responsible for observing
these regulations, also with reference to the installation personnel.
DANGER!
Danger – high pressure.
▶Before loosening lines and valves, turn off the pressure and vent
the lines.
Risk of electric shock.
▶Before reaching into the device or the equipment, switch off the
power supply and secure to prevent reactivation.
▶Observe applicable accident prevention and safety regulations
for electrical equipment.
Risk of burns and danger of fire during long-term operation
due to hot device surface.
▶Keep the device away from highly flammable substances and
media and do not touch with bare hands.
WARNING!
General hazardous situations.
To prevent injuries:
▶Ensure that the system cannot be activated unintentionally.
▶Installation and maintenance work may be carried out only by
authorized technicians with the appropriate tools.
▶After an interruption in the electrical or pneumatic supply,
ensure that the process is restarted in a defined or controlled
manner.
▶The device must only be operated when in a perfect condition
and in consideration of the operating instructions.
▶The general rules of technology must be observed for applica-
tion planning and operation of the device.
NOTE!
Electrostatic sensitive components or modules.
The device contains electronic components which react sensitively
to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Contact with electrostatically
charged persons or objects are hazardous to these components.
In the worst case scenario, they will be destroyed immediately or
will fail after start-up.
• Observe the requirements in accordance with EN 61340-5-1 to
minimize or avoid the possibility of damage caused by sudden
electrostatic discharge.
• Also ensure that you do not touch electronic components when
the supply voltage is on.

4.1 Safety instructions

Risk of injury from high pressure in the system.
▶Before loosening lines and valves, turn off the pressure and vent
the lines.
Risk of injury due to electrical shock.
▶Before reaching into the device or the equipment, switch off the
power supply and secure to prevent reactivation.
▶Observe applicable accident prevention and safety regulations
for electrical equipment.
WARNING!
Risk of injury from improper assembly.
▶Installation may be carried out by authorized technicians only
and with the appropriate tools.
Risk of injury from unintentional activation of the system and
an uncontrolled restart.
▶Secure system from unintentional activation.
▶Following assembly, ensure a controlled restart.

4.2 Disassembly of Type 1066
1. Disconnecting pneumatic connection:
→Remove supply pressure
connection and exhaust
air connection (if installed).
→Loosen pneumatic connection
between control head and
actuator.
2. Disconnecting electrical supply connection:
Multi-pole variant:
→Remove circular plug.

Cable gland:
→Open the transparent hood of the
control head.
→Unscrew the screw terminals and
pull out wires.

3. Removing control head Type 1066:
→Loosen the fastening screws of
the control head.
→Remove control head from
actuator.
4. Removing adaptation set Type 1066:
NOTE!
The adaptation set for Type 1066 (flange, piston rod extension
with pushbutton) is not suitable for use with Type 8681.
▶Do not use adaptation set Type 1066 for Type 8681.
→Remove piston rod extension with
pushbutton.
→Remove flange.

4.3 Installation of Type 8681
The suitable adaptation set for your actuator is described in
data sheet Installation kits for hygienic process valves.

1. Installing adaptation set Type 8681:
→Install suitable flange for
control head 8681.
→Install a suitable piston rod
extension including target for
control head 8681.
2. Installing control head Type 8681:
NOTE!
If the torque is too high when screwing in the side shoulder
screws, protection class IP65 / IP67 cannot be ensured.
▶The screws may be tightened to a maximum torque of 3.2 Nm
only.
→Place the control head on the
adaptation.
→Fasten it onto the adaptation with
the two side shoulder screws
(maximum tightening torque
3.2 Nm).
