MINI WI-FI NVR SETUP
PLEASE READ FIRST!
You must connect the NVR to a monitor or TV to complete the setup. We recommend
verifying all accessories and completing the NVR setup before installing the cameras. For
the best viewing experience, we recommend using a 2K monitor or TV to view your footage.

1. Prepare for installation and NVR Setup.
AMonitor: Connect the TV or Monitor to the NVR with the HDMI cable.
BNVR Power: Connect the NVR power cable to a power outlet.
CUSB Mouse: Connect the USB mouse to the NVR.
DCamera & Camera Power Supply: Connect the Camera power supply to
the Camera and plug it into a power outlet. (NOTE: The camera is pre-paired to your
NVR. You can move the camera to your desired location after the NVR Setup Wizard
is complete).
EModem/Router: Verify your home network is on and follow steps in the NVR
Setup Wizard to connect your NVR.

2. Follow the Activation and Setup Wizard on the monitor/TV to set up the NVR.
APower LED: indicates the NVR is ON.
BRecord LED: data is being read or written to HDD.
CNetwork LED: NVR is connected to a network.

NETWORK SETUP
IMPORTANT! To gain remote access, you must connect your NVR to a 2.4Ghz Internet
connection. 5Ghz Wi-Fi network is not supported.
Tip: Look for your home network that has a 2.4 beside your network name or does not have
a 5.0 beside your network name.
• Select “Wireless Network Setting”.
• Select your home 2.4Ghz network and enter your home network password.
• Click “Connect” and wait up to 1 minute for your device to successfully connect to
the Internet.
• Once your NVR is successfully connected to the Internet you will receive a
“Healthy Network” checkmark.
• Click “Next”.
Please Note: If your Network Status does not show “Healthy Network”, verify that your home
network is online. Once this is conrmed, try to connect to your home network again.

DATE AND TIME
Please Note: The Sync function will only work when your NVR is connected to the Internet.
• Select “Sync date and time with Internet time” to automatically synchronize your
date, time and time zone to the Internet time or enter manually.
• Select “Set Daylight Time Parameters” and set your “Daylight Saving Time Set”.
• Select “Save”.
• Click “Next”.
STORAGE MANAGEMENT
No changes are needed. Click “Next”.
PASSWORD
• Create your NVR password.
• Conrm your password.
• Click “Next”.
PREVIEW
No changes are needed. Click “Next”.
Note: All paired cameras will automatically
appear in your Live View screen.

PASSWORD RECOVERY - SECURITY
SETTINGS
Security questions are used to reset a
forgotten password. Please remember your
questions and answers. Defender is unable
to remote in to reset your password.
• Select 2 security questions and enter
your answers.
• Click “Next”.
SETTING UP REMOTE VIEWING
MOBILE ACCESS
In this section, you will connect the NVR and cameras to the Defender Empower App to
gain mobile App access for remote viewing. In order to use the Defender Empower App,
the NVR must be connected to the Internet.
Open your camera and scan the DEFENDER EMPOWER APP QR Code on your NVR Screen to
download the App for remote access viewing. If you are unable to scan the QR code, search
Defender Empower in the App Store or the Google Play Store.
IMPORTANT! STAY ON THIS SCREEN. The Device ID QR Code can only be scanned within
the Defender Empower App. Continue to the next section “Account Setup” and follow the
steps to create an account. You will be instructed to scan the Device ID QR code in
upcoming steps.
An email account is
required for verication. DEFENDER EMPOWER APP QR CODE.

MOBILE ACCESS – ACCOUNT SETUP
IMPORTANT! For all Android users, additional steps may be required. Please follow all
steps to complete your set up.
Tap ‘Sign Up’ to register an
account.
Review and agree to the
User Agreement and
Privacy Policy.
Select your region, enter your
email address, and agree to the
User Agreement and Privacy
Policy. Tap ‘Get Verication Code’.
Enter the Verication
Code sent to your email
address. This may take up
to 5 minutes to receive.
Create a new password
and tap ‘Done’.
Tap ‘Add Device’.

Wait for your App to
discover nearby devices.

NVR SETUP CONTINUED
Now that you have completed setting up
your Defender Empower App, click “Done”.
CAMERA SETUP
This setting will allow you to customize your recording preference, detection regions and
alarm notications for each channel (camera).
• To customize your preferences: right click to view the main menu > Select Camera
• Select the channel you want to customize.
• To edit your channel name, select the pencil icon and enter your camera location
or provide a customized name. Click “Save”.
• To customize your Recording Mode, Human Detection and Alarm Mode settings, use
the side panel options.
RECORDING MODE
By default, the NVR will record on motion only. Any changes you make will overwrite this
setting. Set your sound recording in this setting.
• Select Continuous Recording or Event Recording (human or motion).
• If you do not want to record sound, toggle Sound recording o.
• Click “Save”.

HUMAN DETECTION
When human detection is enabled, you can search for event recording when continuous
recording mode is selected.
DETECTION REGION
When human motion is detected in the selected regions, your NVR will notify you. If you
wish to be notied of all human motion in the cameras eld of view, make no changes to
this setting.
• To customize your detection region, select Detection Region, deselect the region you
do not want to receive notication for.
• Select your sensitivity level. We recommend Medium.
• To avoid being notied on all motion (including insects, cars, tree movement, etc) keep
Human Detection selected.
• When human motion is detected, you will receive a frame in the area the motion was
detected. If you wish not to receive a frame, toggle Human Detection Frame o.
• Click “Save”.
SOUND ALARM
Your camera will sound a siren when motion is detected.
SPOTLIGHT ALARM
When motion is detected, your camera’s spotlight is triggered on.
PUSH NOTIFICATIONS
To receive alarm and human detection notications through your Defender Empower App,
toggle Push Notications on.
ALARM PERIOD
By default, your camera is programmed to record and send a notication when motion is
detected. To record and receive notications only during specied hours, deselect the hours
you do not want to record or be notied.
• To customize your alert times , select Alarm Period Setting, schedule your desired
hours, click “Save”.
*Repeat for each channel. To copy your settings to multiple channels, select “Copy Camera
Settings”, select your desired channel(s) to copy your settings to, select “Apply”.

Detection Region Alarm Period
COLOR NIGHT VISION
You have the option to customize each camera to one of ve night vision modes.
• To customize your camera recording color preference, from the live view, hover over
the channel you wish to customize > Select “Image Settings”.
• Select your preferred Night Vision Mode.
• Repeat for each channel.
Infrared Night Vision
The camera will record in black and white
at night.
Night Vision O
The camera will always record in full color.
The image quality during the night is solely
reliant on ambient light condition.
Infrared Always On
The camera will record in black and white
during the day and at night.
Full Color Night Vision
The spotlight will be triggered on all the time
in low light conditions, always recording in
color.
Smart Night Vision
At night, the camera will record in black and
white however, when motion is detected,
the spotlight will be triggered on for up to
60 seconds or as long as motion is detected,
enabling color night recording during that
duration.

IMPORTANT! You must complete all App settings to correlate with your NVR settings.
APP SETTING - MOTION DETECTION
Note: Motion Detection settings must be enabled/changed in your NVR and in your Defender
Empower App Settings. Repeat for each channel.
Open the App and
select your device.
Tap ‘Settings’. Tap ‘Detection Alarm
Settings’.
Turn on Motion Detection
Alarm and select your
‘Alarm Sensitivity Level’.
We recommend medium.

APP SETTING - AUDIO RECORDING
Open the Defender
Empower App and Tap
‘Me’
Tap the Settings icon Turn Sound on.
STORAGE SETUP - FORMAT
Formatting your Hard Drive helps to enhance the performance of your NVR.
We recommend doing this before starting to record footage.
Note: When formatting your NVR after the Startup Wizard, all recorded footage will be deleted.
To format your NVR, from the live view, right click to view the main menu >
Select System Setup > Storage Setup

STORAGE SETUP
Click “Format”.
IMPORTANT! By formatting your hard drive,
all recorded footage will be lost.
REFORMAT THE STORAGE DEVICE
Click “Continue” and wait for your NVR to
complete formatting.
FORMATTING COMPLETE
Once your screen returns to the Storage
Setup page, formatting was successful!

USING THE APP
The Defender Empower App allows you to remotely view live and pre-recorded video,
save and share footage, share App access and receive customized notications. Other
App functions may not be supported.
