PRODUCT OVERVIEW
This manual contains the installation, operation and care instructions and user service information for the SimplicityTM
LED Light (Post Mount).
The light is intended to be used by trained professional dental care personnel to provide shadow-free illumination to
the oral cavity for dental practices. The operatory light arm system allows optimal light positioning, which for a reclined
patient, is normally from the sagittal plane directly above or slightly behind the patient’s oral cavity. The operator will
typically be positioned behind or to one side of the patient. The arm assembly is counter-balanced so that minimum
force is required to move the light head assembly.
NOTE: The operatory light is not designed to handle any external loads, such as hanging foreign objects from the
light system.
The light is designed to provide trouble-free service when installed, operated and cared for according to the
procedures set forth in this manual.
To ensure proper installation, carefully read all the instructions contained in this manual, paying close attention to
all warnings, cautions, and notes.
Before starting installation procedures, review the illustration to become familiar with the components of the chair
(FIGURE 1).
After the light is installed, review the features, operation procedures, and care guidelines with the doctor’s staff.

PRODUCT FEATURES
The Simplicity operatory light provides affordable, shadow-free halogen illumination for the dental operatory. The cast
aluminum frame is durable and easy to maneuver for optimal positioning. With high- and low-intensity settings and a
large focal range, the Simplicity operatory light provides accurate lighting through the full range of dental procedures.

Three-axis adjustment allows for the widest range of positioning of the dental operatory light.
Shadow-free illumination area lights the oral cavity.

WARNING Before proceeding with electrical installation, all wiring must be in accordance with NEC and
local electrical codes.
To avoid the risk of electrical shock, this equipment must only be connected to a supply mains
with protective earth.
Do not modify this equipment without permission from DENTALEZ.
SECTION I - INTRODUCTION
CAUTION Rating of main circuit breakers should be 20 Amps maximum.
Protect unit from inclination, excessive vibrations, and blunt force during transportation and
handling.
Position the unit in a dry location.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
NOTICE Do not position the light so that it makes it difficult to disconnect the light from its power supply.
Isolating the unit from the supply mains is accomplished by unplugging the unit from the power
receptacle.

NOTE: Be aware that some cartons are shipped as fillers and may be empty (even if optional components are
ordered).
Carefully unpack the light. Inspect all of the items received to assure there has been no shipping damage.
If damage is discovered, contact the carrier immediately; then report and file the appropriate claims with the carrier
within 24 hours after delivery (see LIMITED WARRANTY).
NOTICE All parts supplied are vital for proper instillation. Do not discard any hardware or components until
installation is complete.

LIGHT ARM ASSEMBLY
NOTE: Refer to your chair mounted unit manual for installation of the light pole. If the chair's seat upholstery
was installed, remove it according to the respective chair's manual.
1. Place the chair base in its lowest position.
2. Disconnect the chair power.
3. Back out the set screw from the light post.
4. Apply a light coat of lubricant to the spindle.
5. Feed the low-voltage light cord through the center of the light post, and into console or out of post mount
(FIGURE 4).
6. Insert the light arm assembly into the bushing until it is fully seated in the light post (FIGURE 5).

POWER SUPPLY BOX (CONSOLE MOUNT)
NOTE: If the plastic connector is not on the end of the light cord, attach it following the instructions enclosed in
the bag with the connector parts.
1. Inside the post-mounted service console, plug the light cord into the matching connector from the umbilical
(FIGURE 6).
2. Take off the utility service center (USC) cover by popping cover off of the four ball studs. (When mounting to a
Simplicity Unit, remove the magnetic cover.)
3. Plug the umbilical harness into the adapter harness.
4. Plug the adapter harness into the transformer box.
5. Attach the ground wire to the receptacle or transformer.
6. Inside the USC, plug the transformer power cord into an electrical receptacle outlet.
7. Place the transformer box in the USC and replace the USC cover.
8. Roll up the excess wires inside the console, or seat casting, making sure no wires interfere with covers or moving
parts.
9. Reconnect the chair power and test the light switch as described in SECTION IV - OPERATION - LIGHT SWITCH/
SENSOR.
NOTE: Replace the seat upholstery if it was removed.

SECTION III - INSTALLATION
NOTE: Remove the cantilever cover and pump cover according to the respective chair's manual.
1. Route the low-voltage light cord through the front of the seat casting and plug it into the light adapter cord. (Light
adapter cord is provided with the post mount or pre-tubed umbilical.)
2. Take off the utility service center (USC) cover by popping cover off of the four ball studs.
3. Route the light adapter cord down through the chair cantilever, chair base, and finally into USC by following the
present harnesses and tubing.
4. Plug the light adapter cord into the power supply (FIGURE 7).
5. Inside the USC, plug the power supply cord into an electrical receptacle outlet.
6. Place the power supply box in the USC and replace the USC cover.
7. Roll up the excess wires inside the seat casting, making sure no wires interfere with covers or moving parts.
8. Replace the cantilever cover and pump cover.
9. Reconnect the chair power and test the light switch as described in SECTION IV - OPERATION.

The light switch toggle is located on the adjustable arm behind the reflector head.
1. Use switch to turn light ON or OFF, or hold hand near sensor for a few seconds (FIGURE 8).
2. To adjust brightness levels, wave hand by sensor. Levels will adjust from low, to medium, then high and back.

POSITIONING LIGHT
SECTION IV - OPERATION
Using the handles on either side of the reflector head, position the light to illuminate the oral cavity (FIGURE 9).
NOTICE To take full advantage of the Simplicity LED Light's intensity and color correction, position the light
between 20" (50.8 cm) and 45" (114.3 cm) away from the oral cavity.

CLEANING
OVERVIEW
SURFACE CLEANING
To clean all surfaces, use a typical ALCOHOL-FREE commercial cleaner or a solution of neutral liquid detergent and
water.
NOTE: Daily cleaning with soap and water or a neutralizer for iodophors may reduce discoloration.
SECTION V - CARE & MAINTENANCE
WARNING Turn OFF the main switch before cleaning the equipment.
CAUTION To prevent risks and damages to equipment, make sure that liquid does not enter into the unit.
Do not allow liquid into the vents.
Avoid spraying anything directly on the light. Spray cloth first, then wipe.
All surface disinfectants cause varying degrees of discoloration to light-colored surfaces.
Do not use alcohol-based disinfectants on plastic surfaces.
The use of solvent-based cleaning products or bleach is not recommended.
Do not use abrasive material or steel wool when cleaning.
NOTICE Under normal use, there is no routine maintenance required.
Use of BactSpray®cleaner is highly recommended, or any other cleaning product that has the
active component benzalkonium chloride.
DISINFECTING
After washing, a disinfectant may be used following the manufacturer's instructions.
The following disinfectants are acceptable to use:

applications is located at the end of this manual.
• The DENTALEZ technical service department is available to supply personnel with any
additional information or instructions needed to repair or maintain the dental light.

DISPOSAL OF EQUIPMENT
DISPOSAL AND DECOMMISSIONING OF
DENTALEZ PRODUCTS
NOTE: All local regulatory requirements for disposal
and decommissioning of equipment apply.
ELECTRICAL SALVAGE: Remove all circuit board
and electrical cabling for recycle as electrical
salvage.
METAL SALVAGE: Remove all aluminum and steel
components for recycle as metal salvage.
PLASTIC SALVAGE: Remove all plastic components
for recycle as plastic salvage.
BIOLOGICALLY CONTAMINATED SALVAGE:
Cuspidor, waste lines from the cuspidor, and the oral
extraction lines should be handled with precaution
and disposed of appropriately.
NON-SALVAGE COMPONENTS: All other material
unsuitable for recycling should be disposed of
properly.
For specific questions regarding material type, contact
DENTALEZ customer service. For decommissioning
information on associated equipment from other
manufacturers, refer to the documentation from the
manufacturer.
