CHORUS AUTOSAMPLER –Quick Start Guide
oSwitch on CHORUS Autosampler –Electronic/mechanical reset
oMake sure that the USB cable connect CHORUS Autosampler to CHORUS TRIO
PREPARATION OF CYCLE
oInsert 32 tips in the rack rotor
oInsert the tubes with samples in the rack rotor
oInsert calibrators/controls with dedicated adapter in the rack rotor
oPlace the box for used tips collection in its dedicated space
oClose the door of CHORUS Autosampler
START OF SAMPLES TRANSFERRING
oPress C-LIST -> SAMPLER to obtain the barcodes reading:
these are displayed on CHORUS TRIO
oCompose the C-list, reading the strips barcode with the external reader. Insert
the strips in the CHORUS TRIO rack rotor.
oPress EXIT and subsequently R-LIST –enter the Running-List –Press Yes
oPress RUN
END OF SAMPLES TRANSFERRING
oOpen the door of CHORUS Autosampler
oExtract the tubes with used samples from rack rotor
oInsert sufficient tips to fill up the rack rotor
oEmpty and sanitize the box for used tips collection
The activity of CHORUS Autosampler is now concluded and CHORUS TRIO proceeds with the
analytical cycle, from which the printed results will be obtained.
N.B. CHORUS Autosampler can be kept on until the subsequent cycle of transferring samples. In case of inactivity of the instrument, it is advised to turn it off.

TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
CAUSE
SOLUTION
BARCODES
1. Turned tubes –incorrect
position of barcode
2. Technical problems to the
barcode reader
1. Open the door, correctly place the tubes and press “Yes”:
CHORUS Autosampler will conduct another barcode reading.
2. Press “No” and use CHORUS TRIO external barcode reader to
insert the barcodes. The codes transferred from Autosampler
cannot be modified. Proceed as follows:
A. Press “Modify”
B. Read the code with the reader
C. Press “Insert”
MISSING TIPS

1. Total or partial lack of tips when
starting the cycle
2. Tips picking problems: if the tip
is considered not well picked, it
is unloaded and the following tip
is picked
1-2.
(A) Presence of sound alarm. Re-insert the missing tips within 3
minutes and press “OK”. In case of no insertion of tips, CHORUS
TRIO starts the analysis cycle of the samples that were transferred
before the tips were finished.
(B) Presence of a 60 seconds sound alarm. Before starting the cycle
CHORUS TRIO allows the extraction of unused strips, in which no
samples have been transferred. The strips to be removed are
selected in dark.
By pressing “Yes” the instrument stops and the strips can be
extracted. Press “RUN” again to start the analysis cycle.
By pressing “No” the analysis cycle starts and the strips cannot be
extracted.
In case no samples have been transferred, the messages “Failed
to start cycle” and “Session aborted”are shown.
MISSING CALIBRATION: NO CALIB
1. Absence of calibration for the
test to perform
2. Level error on the calibrator
1. Exit from R-List. Insert the calibrator with specific adapter in the
rack rotor of CHORUS Autosampler. Enter in the C-List and press
“Sampler”: a new reading of the rack rotor is performed and the
message of the picture on the left is shown. Press “Yes” to
maintain the associations already made.

Note During this phase it is not allowed to move the tubes already
inserted in the rack rotor, only the addition of new ones is
possible.
2. Exit from R-List. Correct the error occurred on the calibrator or
replace the vial and follow all the steps of point 1.
Picture (B) from section “MISSING TIPS”shows what happens if the
error has not been corrected. Follow, step by step, the indications
reported in that section.
ERRORS:
LEV LOW, LEV ERR, LEV MAX, PRESS ERR
Problems occurred during level
search phase
In details:
1. LEV LOW: tube with low level
2. LEV ERR: tube with no liquid
3. LEV MAX: the tube is too full
4. PRESS ERR: problem in the pressure control during suction. This
could indicate:
A. Presence of a problem to the hydraulic apparatus if it is
repeated on more samples (contact DIESSE technical
assistance)
B. Presence of bubbles in the sample presenting the problem
The instrument proceeds with the analysis cycle, following
confirmation and request of unused strips extraction (as respectively
described in section “SAMPLE ERROR” and in picture (B) of section
“MISSING TIPS”).

1. Problems to dilutor

cycle” and “Sampler Error: IO err” are shown at the end this time.

SAMPLE ERROR
Presence of one or more samples for
which the analysis cannot be
performed. The status of such
samples can be:
(A) “DISP ERR”
(B) “LEV ERR”
(C) “LEV LOW”
(D) “LEV MAX”
(E) “PRESS ERR”
Press “Yes” to proceed with the analysis of the tests.
Press “No” to modify the ongoing session.
