Connection
1. Connect mains adapter (6V DC Arc 7:300mA & Arc 9r:600mA)/phone cable to wall sockets.
2. Insert batteries (AAA 1.2V NiMH) in accordance with the markings.
3. Chargewiththekeypadfacingoutwards(24hoursthersttime).
4. Press Menu.
5. Scroll {/}to HS Settings.
6. Press Select (left menu button).
7. Scroll to Language. Press Select.
8. Scroll to desired setting. Press Select.
9. Press Lor Back repeatedly for standby mode.
Battery
When the batteries are new and fully-charged (10 hours) they will last for approx. 100 hours’ standby time or approx.
10 hours’ call time. These times apply at normal room temperature. Full battery capacity will not be reached until the
batteries have been charged 4-5 times. It is not possible to overcharge or damage the batteries by charging them for
”too long”.
If the batteries are completely discharged it can take up to 5 minutes’ charging before the display lights up.
Battery LED
When the batteries are running low willashandawarningtonewillbeheardduringcalls.
Handset indicator will continue to rotate as long as handset is placed on the base and will not stop when fully charged.
Please note!
USE ONLY WITH PROVIDED ADAPTOR!
When the battery is low or when there is too great a distance to the base unit the telephone will be unable to connect to a
line. Do not place the base unit close to other electrical equipment, in direct sunlight or other strong heat sources! This is to
minimize the risk of any interference. It is normal for the device to become warm during charging and this is not dangerous.
Use only original batteries. The guarantee does not cover any damage caused by using the wrong batteries.
Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instruction.
The equipment will not work during power cuts, so a corded telephone ought to be used as a back up.
Range
The telephone’s range depends on whether or not the radio waves carrying the call are restricted by obstacles in their
path, and is usually between 50 and 300 metres. Coverage can be improved by turning one’s head so that the handset
isalignedwiththebaseunit.Soundqualitydeclinesasthelimitisreacheduntilthecallisnallyinterrupted.The6
symbolisshownwhenthephoneiswithinrangeandasheswhenitisoutofrange.
The bars beside the 6symbol indicate signal strength.
Making a call
1. Enter the desired number. Delete if necessary with Clear.
2. Press to call. Press Lto end.
Please note!
To switch between speaker/handset, press / . In speaker mode, you cannot both speak at once – you must take it in turns
to talk.
Receiving a call
1. Wait for the handset to ring.
2. Press to answer. Press Lto end.

Audio Setup
The volume may be adjusted during a call with {/}.
Redial
Press r/}and scroll between the 20 most recently dialled numbers with {/}. Press .
Mute button
The microphone can be switched on/off during a call with Mute/Unmute.
Temporary Do Not Disturb
When someone calls, you can press Silent to turn off the handset ringer temporarily.
Softkeys
Note the top two keys are “softkeys”. Their function is shown in the Display directly above them.
Paging
The handset will ring when J(on the base unit) is pressed. The signal will stop automatically after a while or if the
Lbutton on the handset or the Jbutton on the base unit are pressed.
Phonebook
You can save 100 names and numbers. If you subscribe to a caller ID service, the name allocated to the caller
in the phonebook will be shown for incoming calls. It is possible to choose between various ringers for the
numbers saved in the Phonebook (provided you subscribe to a caller ID service).
While storing a name you can change between European, Russian and Greek by pressing *and
holding for 2 seconds. Repeat to change again.
Save name/number in handset
1. PressPress Menu.
2. Scroll to PB. Press Select.
3. Scroll to Add. Press Select.
4. Press equivalent digit key several times for desired name. Press }.
5. Enter the telephone number including the area code (Clear=Erase). Press }.
6. Scroll to desired ring setup 8/9. Press Ok.
Managing the phonebook
1. Press PB (right menu button). Scroll through the entries using {/}. You can quick search the phonebook by
pressingthecorrespondingnumberkeyfortherstletter.
2. Press to call.
Managing the phonebook
1. Press Menu.
2. Scroll to PB. Press Select.
3. Scroll to desired function e.g. PB status to see how many entries have been used. Press Select.
4. Scroll through the entries with {/}. You can quick search the phonebook by pressing the corresponding number
keyfortherstletter.

Incoming numbers/Caller ID
The display shows you who is calling and the 30 most recent missed calls. New Call(s) will be shown in
standby mode and in the list indicates a missed call. This function requires a subscription from your
service provider!
Retrieving and dialling
1. Press 9. Scroll to desired position with }.
2. Press to call or press Select followed by Menu for various options.
In order to remove the text New Call(s), must each entry in the log be read individually by pressing Select at every new
entry (marked with ) in the list or delete all calls.
Delete all calls
1. Press 9.
2. Press Select followed by Menu.
3. Scroll to Delete All. Press Select.
4. Press Ok.
Calleridenticationmessages
In addition to number display, the following messages will be shown occasionally:
Out Of Area E.g. international call.
Withheld Unlisted number. Number cannot be shown.
aMSG indication for network operator’s answer service
*Delete: Press 9 and then hold down 4. Press Ok.
Clock/Alarm
1. Press Menu. Scroll to Clock/Alarm. Press Select.
2. Scroll to desired setting. Press Select.
Date & Time Setting the date & time.
Alarm An activated alarm clock is indicated by in standby mode. When the alarm goes off, an audio signal will
be heard for 40 seconds. Deactivate permanently with Off or press any button/Snooze for repetition
after 5 mins (activate this setting when programming). The volume is determined by the set ringer level.

Functions

Ring Setup The handset’s ringer.
Melodies 6-15 can continue for up to 8 seconds if the call is answered in another phone.
Tone Setup Key tone, low battery, out of range.
Language This is explained in the Connection section.
Rename HS The text shown in standby mode.
Wallpaper The background image in the display.
Colour Theme The colour of the menus can be changed.
Contrast The contrast inthedisplay canbeadjusted.
Auto Answer The call is answered when the handset is lifted from the base.
Call Barring See separate description.
SOS Number Emergency numbers are excluded from call barring functions.
Select Base Only used in systems with more than one base unit.

Call Barring
The telephone can block certain types of outgoing calls. (PIN code is 0000 when supplied).
1. Press Menu. Scroll to HS Settings. Press Select.
2. Scroll to Call Barring. Press Select.
3. Enter PIN number (0000 when supplied). Press Ok.
4. Scroll to Barring Mode. Press Select.
5. Scroll to desired setting, e.g. On. Press Select.
Specifying barred numbers
Enterthesequenceofdigitsforthetypeofcalltobebarred.Example:Selecttheinternationalprex(usually00)to
bar all international calls. There are 4 different bars with up to 4 digits in each.
1. Access Call Barring as described above.
2. Scroll to Barring Number. Press Select.
3. Scroll to desired entry. Press Select.
4. Enter desired digits (max 4). Press Ok.
5. Remember to activate the Barring Mode setting as described above.

System settings
System PIN is 0000 on delivery.
1. Press Menu. Scroll to Base Settings. Press Select.
2. Scroll to desired function. Press Select.
3. Enter the desired setting. Press Select.
Delete HS Warning: To de-register a handset: WARNING, A deregistered handset can not be used with the system.
Ring Setup The base unit ringer can be adjusted. Only applies to Arc 9r.
Dial Mode TONE/PULSE, must be set to tone in most countries.
Flash Time RECALL TIME.
Long = New Zealand. Medium = France/Portugal Short= Other countries UK/Australia
Modify PIN The code (e.g. 0000) can be changed.
First Ring First ringer signal on/off. For SMS etc.
BS default Resetting base unit.
Register a new handset
All handsets included in the package are already registered to the base unit.
Only for separate handsets/service measures.
You can register up to 6 handsets to one base unit.
This model is GAP (Generic Access Prole) compatible, which means that the handset and the base unit can both be used
with most other GAP compatible units irrespective of manufacturer. However the GAP protocol cannot guarantee that all
functions may be accessed. Extra handsets will not be available as accessories.
1. Hold down the Jbutton on the base unit around 6 seconds.
2. Press Menu. Scroll to Registering. Press Select.
3. Scroll to required base unit (Blue=previous reg.). Press Ok.
4. Enter the base unit PIN code (e.g. 0000). Press Ok.
5. If the registration is successful the unit will return to standby mode within one minute.
Expanded system (+1)
The call number for internal calls will be shown in the display in standby mode. The base unit should be positioned
centrally so that the coverage area is roughly equal for all handsets.
Intercom
1. Press I.
2. When there are more than 2 handsets: Enter the call number 1-6for the handset you wish to call or press 9to call
all handsets.
3. Press Select.
Transferring calls/Conference between handsets
1. An external call is connected.
2. Press I.
3. When there are more than 2 handsets: Enter the call number 1-6for the handset you wish to call or press 9to call
all handsets.
4. Press Select.
5. To transfer: press L,
For conference: hold down I.

Answer Machine (only Arc 9r)
When the answer machine is switched on calls are answered after a set number of rings, your outgoing
message is heard and the caller can leave a message. The total memory capacity is up to 30 mins. Most
functions can be accessed from both base unit and handset.
Switching the answer machine on/off
Press 1(onthebaseunit)toswitchtheanswermachineon/off.Ifthebaseunit’sdisplayisashing/showing-- the
answer machine is disconnected or time/date is not set..
On/Off from the handset
1. Press Menu. Scroll to Answer Machine. Press Select.
2. Scroll to TAM On/Off. Press Ok.
3. Scroll to desired setting. Press Ok.
If the handset’s display shows with a steady light the answer machine is switched on.
Even when answer machine is OFF it will still answer after 10 rings, please see Remote activation.
Outgoing message
The outgoing message (max 3 min) is heard by incoming callers. There are two separate outgoing messages, one for
Answer Only (callers cannot leave a message) and one for normal answer function.
1. Press Menu. Scroll to Answer Machine. Press Select.
2. Scroll to TAM Settings. Press Select.
3. Scroll to OGM Settings. Press Select.
4. Scroll to Answer & Record/Answer Only. Press Select.
5. Scroll to Record. Press Select.
6. After the long beep you can record your message (speaking approx. 20 cm from the keypad). Press Ok.
7. The message will be played back to you. Repeat the above to change.
Also select desired answer function. See Answer Machine Settings.
A pre-recorded message is used until you make your own recording, and that message can also be restored if required.required.. To
restore this, select Default instead of Record in sequence above.
Screening
Incoming messages will be heard on the loudspeaker of the base unit as they are received. If nothing can be heard,
check that the volume is turned up and that the function has been activated – see separate description. You can also
press Ok on the handset while a message is being recorded.
The call can be intercepted by pressing or by lifting the receiver of another telephone.
Using the answer machine (base unit)

Using the answer machine (handset)
New message is indicated in the display in standby mode. Playback always starts with new messages.
1. Press Menu. Scroll to Answer Machine. Press Select.
2. Scroll to Playback. Press Ok.
3. During playback the following commands are available or press Menu and scroll to the desired function.
4. End by pressing L.

Answer Machine Settings
1. Press Menu. Scroll to Answer Machine. Press Select.
2. Scroll to TAM Settings. Press Select.
3. Scroll to desired function. Press Select.
4. Scroll to desired setting. Press Select.
Answer Mode Choose between Answer & Record and Answer Only (caller cannot leave a message).
TAM Language Select language for pre-recorded out-going message. To activate this function select Default under OGM
Settings.
OGM Settings Record/listen to outgoing msg.
Answer Delay Select after how many rings (2-9, Time Saver*) the call will be answered.
Recording Time Select maximum recording time for each msg.
Base Screening See separate description of this function in the base unit.
Remote Access Select remote access on/off.
Chg Remote PIN Change remote access code (0000).
*The Time Saver function answers calls after six ring signals, until the rst new message has been registered - then the answer
machine switches to answering after approximately two signals. This is useful when using remote access; if you call up the
answer machine and there is no reply after four rings that means there are no messages recorded and you can hang up before
you are charged for the call.
Personal message (Memo)
1. Press Menu. Scroll to Answer Machine. Press Select.
2. Scroll to Memo. Press Select.
3. After the long beep you can record your message (speaking approx. 20 cm from the keypad).
4. Press Ok. The message will be played back to you.
5. Memos are played back in the same way as ordinary incoming messages.
