INTRODUCTION
XENOLUX 180 light source has a Xenon arc lamp designed to be used in all ECLERIS
microscope and colposcope models as well as in therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
This light source has a connection for endocamera, video output and universal adapter
for those fiber optic models most widely distributed in the market.
It has a lighting module with a 180 Watts Xenon lamp which produces the necessary
light to obtain video images. The cold, deep and white Xenon light of this equipment
enhances the real brightness and colors allowing its use for all types of procedures.
The manually operated mechanical diaphragm with continuous adjustment allows
regulating the lighting level so that the user gets the necessary optimum level, always
keeping the same lighting quality and color.
The XENOLUX 180 allows the connection of the Ecleris PROCAM universal
endocamera which has a 1/3” CCD sensor and integrated controls, especially designed
for medical applications ensuring a high image quality, precision and resolution.
This endocamera allows the electronic capture of the image, its processing and
conversion to video signal with adequate features for the connection to external devices
such as monitors, video-printers, image capturing systems, etc.
The purpose of this manual is to explain the functioning and operation of the
equipment.
Before turning the equipment on for the first time, read the whole manual and pay
special attention to all the safety measures in order to prevent any damage that may
occur either to the user or the patient.
This symbol shall be used in this manual to indicate information that
includes warnings or important precautions.
Please, read the manual thoroughly before operating the equipment.
Should you have any doubt regarding the contents of the manual herein or the
equipment operation and safety, please contact your local distributor or the closes
ECLERIS office.

INSTALLATION
Experienced or expert personnel are not required to install the XENOLUX 180.
Once the installation is over, please continue with the procedures detailed in the
Revision and Operation section.
Thoroughly follow the instructions included in this section.
1. Unpacktheequipmentcarefully.
2. In case of using the XENOLUX 180 as an endoscopic light source, place it on
a solid and flat surface.
3. Rotate the universal adapter until the corresponding connector is aligned with
the light output.
4. Connect the fiber optic cable to the corresponding connector of the universal
adapter (depending on the fiber optic to be used). The fiber optic connector
shall match perfectly and not exceed the adapter.
5. In case of using the XENOLUX 180 as a Microscope / Colposcope light
source, mount the XENOLUX 180 on the Ecleris Microscope / Colposcope
forearm (See “Light Source Installation” Section in Ecleris Microscope
/Colposcope User’s Manual)
6. Rotate the universal adapter until the Wolf connector is aligned with the light
output.
7. Connect the fiber optic cable to the Wolf connector of the universal adapter.
The fiber optic connector shall match perfectly and not exceed the adapter.
When turning the light source on, check fans functioning.
If due to any breakdown they do not work, turn the equipment off
immediately to avoid failures in the lamp as a result of high temperature.
The XENOLUX 180 shall only be used in places with electrical
installations that meet the national and local regulations in effect.
It shall always be connected to the grounding of the operating room or
endoscopy tower through a ground cable.

REVISION AND OPERATION
REVISION
Once installation is over and before turning the XENOLUX 180 on, please go through
the following check list:
•Verify that the electrical power has its grounding connection in perfect
conditions and that it makes perfect contact with the equipment.
•Check that the fuse holder has a fuse installed and that it is the correct one
(T5AL250V for 110V power supply and T2.5AL250V for 220 V).
•Check that the ventilation grid is completely free, without obstruction.
•Ensure an adequate air flow.
•Verify that there are no water or liquid sources near the equipment that may
damage it, such as gases or flammable emissions in the environment.
All connections shall be made before turning the equipment on.
The XENOLUX 180 shall only be used in places with electrical
installations that meet the national, provincial and local regulations in
effect.
If before connecting the XENOLUX 180 any anomaly is detected, please contact the
technical service department of your local distributor or the closest ECLERIS office,
prior to its use.
OPERATION
This section thoroughly describes the equipment start-up and functioning verification
procedure. It is recommended to perform this procedure after installing the equipment
and during maintenance inspections.
The equipment shall only be operated by qualified personnel.
Once the XENOLUX 180 is turned on, it shall remain in this condition
for at least 15 minutes.
When turning the XENOLUX 180 off, wait for at least other 15 minutes
before turning it on again.
Short On and Off-cycles considerable reduce the lamp useful life.

1. Connect the power supply cable to the equipment and the electrical power.
2. You may begin the procedure after turning the XENOLUX 180 on, by
pressing the on/off switch.
The Xenon Lamp takes 2 seconds to turn on after the XENOLUX 180 is ON.
3. Use the diaphragm control to regulate lighting intensity.
4. Once the procedure is over, turn the XENOLUX 180 off in order to maximize
the lamp useful life.
5. Should you use a video camera (Ecleris PROCAM), connect it to the video
input connector.
6. Connect the video output (rear panel BNC or S-Video connector) to the video
input of the viewing device and turn the XENOLUX 180 on.
7. Select the video input and video Standard in the viewing device.
