1. Introduction
ECO920 is a microprosessor controlled thermostat equipped with a LCD display.
2. Safety Instructions
• Installation must only be carried out by an electrically skilled person.
• Read the installation instructions carefully before starting the installation work.
• The information provided in this manual in no way exempts the user of responsibility to follow all ap-
plicable codes and safety standards.
• The instruction manual must be stored in a safe location and be available for future installation and
service.

4. Operation modes
The thermostat has four operation modes. The operation mode can only be installed in the START UP
menu, which is shown the rst time the thermostat is started or after the thermostat has been reset to
factory settings.
4.1 Heating
HEAT mode is used in homes, oces, storerooms and suchlike. You can use the thermostat as a room or
oor thermostat or as a room thermostat with over heating protection for wooden oors. You can regulate
the heating within a temperature range of +5 ... +45 ºC.
4.2 Cooling
COOL mode is used in homes, oces, storerooms and suchlike. The thermostat works as a room thermo-
stat for regulating air conditioning or other cooling within a temperature range of +5 ... +45 ºC.
4.3 Industry
INDUSTRY mode is used in industrial environment to regulate the temperature of industrial processes, high
temperatures or for frost protection of sensitive installations. You can regulate temperatures within the
ranges -15 ... +75 ºC and 0 ... +170 ºC. You can limit the temperature range to -10 ... +15 ºC for frost protec-
tion purposes. You can adjust temperature hysteresis as well as set upper and lower temperature alarms.
4.4 Frost Protection
MAX/MIN mode is used to keep roof and ground surfaces free of snow and ice. You can adjust the frost
protection within a temperature range of -20 ... +10 ºC.
5. Installation and electrical connections
Disconnect the power supply before carrying out any installation or maintenance work on this ther-
mostat and associated components.
• The thermostat is intended for mounting in a panel board. Attach the device onto a DIN rail.
• The thermostat do not have a main switch in itself, but it has to be installed elsewhere in the circuit.
• A residual circuit breaker has to be used according to the local installation regulations.
• Sensors in accordance with the used application should be installed to ensure proper operation and
energy saving.

6. Menu Navigation
The main menu contains three submenus TEMP, PROGRAM and SYSTEM. Choices you can nd under these
three submenus depend on the used operation mode.
When you press any of the three buttons on the thermostat, the background lighting turns to full strength.
If no button is pressed for 30 seconds, the background lighting reverts to half strength.
7. Commissioning
• Start the thermostat with the power switch.
• The START UP menu opens. The START UP menu opens only, when the thermostat is switched on for
the rst time or when the factory settings are reset by using the RESET / FACT SET function.
• Set and save the settings that are displayed alternately in the START UP menu.
• After a possible power failure day and time must be set, the other settings will be retained.
LANGUAGE, language
Select the required language by scrolling the options using the or button.

DATE/TIME, date and time
The date and time must be set in order for the program functions to work correctly. The thermostat auto-
matically sets the day of the week and summer and winter time.
First set the date: yyyy.mm.dd
Then set the time: hh:mm
The value to be set blinks.
Increase or decrease the blinking value using the or button.

OPERATION MODE
Select the required operation mode by scrolling the options using the or button.

Note! After leaving the START UP menu the operation mode can be changed only by resetting the factory
settings.
EXIT
When you have made all the commissioning settings, select EXIT.
Leave the START UP menu by selecting YES.
The thermostat goes to basic display mode.
8. Basic Display Mode
In the basic display mode the display shows the operation mode, alternatingly the set point and the current
value as well as if the system is switched on or o. The thermostat returns into basic display mode and the
display dims 30 seconds after a button has been pressed.
* The current value is only shown for the sensors that are installed and activated.
The basic display mode contains six functions: OVERVIEW, MAIN MENU, HR METER (connection time),
shortcut to TEMP (temperature) menu and set point, shortcut to LANGUAGE menu and shortcut to STAND
BY menu.
OVERVIEW [press ]
You can overview the thermostat settings using the and buttons.
To return to basic display mode press or wait 30 seconds.
MAIN MENU [press ]
From the main menu you can reach all settings. The display view depends on the selected operation mode.
To return to basic display mode select EXIT or wait 30 seconds.
HR METER [press ]
The counter counts two dierent connections times. The total connection time TOTAL shows how many
hours the thermostat has been switched on after commissioning. The momentary connection time TEMPO-
RARY shows how many hours the thermostat has been switched on since the counter was reset. You can
use the momentary connection time when calculating the energy consumption.

Reset the momentary connection time SYSTEM /RESET / HR METER.
Both counters are reset, if the thermostat is reset to factory settings.
To return to basic display mode press or wait 30 seconds.
LANGUAGE, shortcut [press 3s]
You can go from the basic display mode directly to the LANGUAGE menu. Here you can change the lan-
guage used by the thermostat.
TEMP, shortcut [press 3s]
You can go from the basic display mode directly to the temperature setting menu. Here you can set the set
point.
STAND BY, shortcut [press 3s]
The device asks, if you want to switch o the thermostat. If you select YES, the standby mode is activated.
If you select NO, the thermostat returns into basic display mode. Leave the standby mode by pressing any
button. The thermostat returns into basic display mode.
When the termostat is in the standby mode, the temperature is not regulated and the display is not active.
The clock runs as usual and all the settings are stored in the memory.
Note! The thermostat is still supplied with electricity.
9. Operation Modes
9.1. Heating
HEAT mode is used in homes, oces, storerooms and suchlike. You can use the thermostat as a room or
oor thermostat or as a room thermostat with over heating protection for wooden oors. You can regulate
the heating within a temperature range of +5 ... +45 ºC.
All the settings are saved in the memory and are not lost even if a power cut occurs, but in this case the clock
must be reset to obtain normal functionality again.

TEMP, temperature
Go to the submenus where you can set a temperature set point for room, oor or over heating protection,
depending on the used application.
TEMP, temperature set point
When you consider the suitable temperature set point, you have to take into account the used application,
see wiring diagram and table on page 4.
• Room thermostat: The thermostat adjusts the heating according to the room temperature.
• Floor thermostat: The thermostat adjusts the heating according to the oor temperature.
• Room thermostat with overheating protection: The thermostat adjusts the heating according to the
room temperature as well as according to oor temperature limitation.
You can set the temperature to an accuracy of 0,5 degrees.
Select the required temperature by increasing or decreasing using the or button.
Save the selection with
Default: +22 ºC
Range: +5 ... +45 ºC
OH PROTECTION, overheating protection
Overheating protection works as a oor temperature limiter. The oor surface temperature varies depend-
ing on the ooring material and thickness. Please ask the ooring manufacturer for more information about
accurate temperatures to prevent overheating and damage.
A room sensor [A] and an overheating protection sensor [B] has to be installed, see the wiring diagram and
table on page 4.
Select the required temperature by scrolling the options using the or button.

PROGRAM
You can save energy by adapting the heating to suit the needs through out the day, for example, lower the
temperature when nobody is present in the premises. The thermostat has preset schedules for home and
oce environments. Use personal program, when you want to create schedules for your individual needs.
Vacation program is intended for long term absence. Additionally there is a program intended for hotel en-
vironment. There is no need to consider the heating time when programming, because the thermostat has
an adaptive function that applies this automatically.

Manual program is the default setting. You set the required temperature and the thermostat maintains that
temperature.
Default: +22 ºC
Range: +5 ... +45 ºC
HOME, program for home environment
The temperature is lowered automatically by 5 °C at the following times:
Monday – Friday 08:30 ... 15:00
Monday - Sunday 23:00 ... 05:00

The thermostat works from the temperature that is set in the manual program. Default setting is +22 °C.
If you change the temperature in the manual program, or the set point in the TEMP menu, the thermostat
works from the new temperature, and lowers the temperature by 5 degrees from the newly set tempera-
ture.
OFFICE, program for oce environment
The temperature is lowered automatically by 5 degrees at the following times:
Monday – Friday 00:00 ... 06:00
Monday – Friday 18:00 ... 24:00
Saturday – Sunday 00:00 ... 24:00
The thermostat works from the temperature that is set in the manual program. Default setting is +22 °C.
If you change the temperature in the manual program, or the set point in the TEMP menu, the thermostat
works from the new temperature, and lowers the temperature by 5 degrees from the newly set tempera-
ture.
VACATION
Vacation program is intended for saving energy and safeguarding against frost damage in premises that
are empty or unused for long periods, such as holiday homes and storerooms, or unusually long periods of
absence from premises. The vacation program can be controlled via a remote control unit.
Default: +12 ºC
ACTIVATE
Start the vacation program with ACTIVATE. If you want to start the program without the timer function,
select TIMER: NO and the program will then be active until another program is started. If you select YES, set
the time until the program is active. After this time the thermostat returns to the previously used program.
EDIT
Here are submenus where you can edit temperature and timer settings as well as take a remote control in
use.
TEMP is used to set the temperature you want the thermostat to maintain when the program is activated.
TIMER is used to set the start and stop times.
REMOTE CONTROL
You can control the vacation program via a remote control unit. The unit is connected to the applicable ter-
minals, see the wiring diagram on page 4. The vacation program is activated when the remote control input
is closed, and deactivated when it is opened. The thermostat then returns to its previous setting.
RESET
Reset the program to the default temperature setting and delete all the time settings.
PERSONAL
Personal program enables you to optimize energy consumption to suit your needs by making settings for
four events each day. The events are named as WAKE UP, OUT, HOME and NIGHT.
Default: +22 ºC
Range: +5 ... +45 ºC
ACTIVATE
Start the personal program with ACTIVATE. The program will be active until another program is started.

EDIT
You have several options how to set the events. It is normally easiest to set the whole week rst and then
adjust this for the days requiring a dierent setting. Set the time and temperature for the events in the order
in which they appear on the display.
RESET
Reset the program to the default temperature setting and delete all the time settings.
HOTEL, program for hotel environment
Hotel program allows you to control the heating via external card readers with a delay time, since the
thermostat has an integrated time relay function. The temperature settings change automatically when the
hotel guests come into or leave the room. The delay time is fully adjustable, which makes it easy to decide
how long the heating should be switched on after the guests have left the room.
+HEATING
Set the delay time for how long the heating is switched on after the guests have left the room.
Default: 2 hours
Range: 0 ... 4 hours
LOW TEMP
Set a lower temperature when the guests are away.
Default: +15 ºC
Range: +5 ... +20 ºC
ACTIVATE
Start the hotel program with ACTIVATE. The program will be active until another program is started.
SYSTEM
Go to the submenus where you can nd system related setting options.
LANGUAGE
You can change the selected language in this submenu.
Select the required language by scrolling the options using the or button.
Save the selection with
DATE/TIME, date and time
A set time and date can be changed if needed, for example, if the electrical supply to the thermostat was
disrupted for a period of more than fty hours. The setting function comes up automatically.
First set the date: dd.mm.yyyy
Then set the time: hh:mm
The value to be set blinks.
Increase or decrease the blinking value using the or button.
Save the setting with
DST, summer and winter time
The thermostat calendar and clock are automatically set to summer and winter time. If the function is not
required, it can be disabled.
Disable the function by selecting OFF.
Enable the function by selecting ON.

SENSOR, sensor settings
Select sensors depending on the used application and installed sensors. See the wiring diagram and table
on page 4.
Scroll the options using the or button.
Select a sensor with
ADAPTIVE, adaptive function
Adaptive function calculates when heating should be switched on to provide the required temperature at
the right time. The function is enabled as default. If the function is not required, it can be disabled.
Disable the function by selecting OFF.
Enable the function by selecting ON.
VENT, ventilation mode
If the room temperature falls by more than 3 degrees in a minute, for example, when airing, ventilation
mode is activated. The heating is switched o for 15 minutes, after which it returns to the same mode as
before. The function is enabled as default. If the function is not required, it can be disabled.
Disable the function by selecting OFF.
Enable the function by selecting ON.
RESET
You have three reset options HR METER, MODE and FACT SET.
HR METER, reset connection time
The connection time shows the number of hours an installation has been connected since it was last re-
set. You can use this function, if you want to calculate the energy consumption for a certain period. The
thermostat also has a counter, which shows the total hours the installation has been connected. The total
connection time cannot be reset.
To reset the momentary connection time, change the preset NO to YES by pressing the button.
Conrm with
MODE, reset the operation mode settings
You can reset the operation mode settings. All programs are reset and the temperature and sensor settings
return to the default values. Resetting does not aect the choice of OP MODE (operation mode), LANGUAGE
or setting for DATE/TIME.
To reset the operation mode settings, change the preset NO to YES by pressing the button.
Conrm with
FACT SET, reset factory settings
You can reset the thermostat entirely to factory settings. All programmed data is deleted and the START UP
menu is opened. If you choose to reset the thermostat, it is important to know the operation mode it uses
and the conguration of the sensors.
To reset the factory settings, change the preset NO to YES by pressing the button.

VACATION
Vacation program is intended for protection against over heating of e.g. electronic equipment in premises
that are empty or unused for long periods, such as holiday homes and storerooms, or unusually long peri-
ods of absence from premises. The vacation program can be controlled via a remote control unit.
Default: +27 ºC
Range: +20 ... +40 ºC
ACTIVATE
Start the vacation program with ACTIVATE. You can choose to use TIMER SETTING. If you want to start the
program without the timer function, select NO and the program will then be active until another program
is started. If you select YES, the program will remain active for the selected time and will then return to the
previously used program.
EDIT
Set the time and temperature the rst time you use VACATION program. TEMP is used to set the tempera-
ture you want the thermostat to maintain when the program is activated. TIMER is used to reset the current
start and stop times.
RESET
Reset the program to the default temperature setting and delete all the time settings.
REMOTE CONTROL
You can control the holiday program via a remote control unit. The unit is connected to the applicable termi-
nals; see the wiring diagram on page 4. The holiday program is activated when the remote control input is
closed, and deactivated when it is opened again. The thermostat then returns to its previous setting.
PERSONAL

TEMP HYS, temperature hysteresis
The hysteresis is the range the current value is permitted to deviate from the set point without the thermo-
stat switching on or o the heating. A set hysteresis value of 1.3 °C and a set point of +40.0 °C means that
the temperature (current value) can vary between +38.7 °C and +41.3 °C. The hysteresis is set in steps of
0.5 degrees.
The hysteresis can be increased if the thermostat continually switches on and o the heating. Excessive
switching increases wear on the relay and reduces the service life of the thermostat considerably.
Increase or decrease the hysteresis value using the or button.
Save the setting with

ALARM, temperature alarm

FROST PR, frost protection program
The program is intended for the frost protection of installations or pipes. A low temperature sensor has to
be installed. See the wiring diagram and table on page 4.

A set time and date can be changed if needed, for example, if the electrical supply to the thermostat was

The value to be set blinks.

DST, summer and winter time
The thermostat calendar and clock are automatically set to summer and winter time. If the function is not
required, it can be disabled.
Disable the function by selecting OFF.
Enable the function by selecting ON.

table on page 4.

You have three reset options CONN TIME, OP MODE and FACT SET.
CONN TIME, reset connection time
The connection time shows the number of hours an installation has been connected since it was last re-
set. You can use this function, if you want to calculate the energy consumption for a certain period. The
thermostat also has a counter, which shows the total hours the installation has been connected. The total
connection time cannot be reset.
To reset the momentary connection time, change the preset NO to YES by pressing the button.

You can reset the operation mode settings. All programs are reset and the temperature and sensor settings
return to the default values. Resetting does not aect the choice of OP MODE (operation mode), LANGUAGE
or setting for DATE/TIME.

FACT SET, reset factory settings
You can reset the thermostat entirely to factory settings. All programmed data is deleted and the START UP
menu is opened. If you choose to reset the thermostat, it is important to know the operation mode it uses
and the conguration of the sensors.
To reset the factory settings, change the preset NO to YES by pressing the button.

9.4. Frost Protection
MAX/MIN mode is used to keep roof and ground surfaces free of snow and ice. You can adjust the frost
protection within a temperature range of -20 ... +10 ºC. For the best results and the best energy saving, use
combined temperature and humidity control.
All the settings are saved in the memory and are not lost even if a power cut occurs, but in this case the clock
must be reset to obtain normal functionality again.

In the temperature menu you can set the temperature range.
The MAX value is the upper value in the temperature range and the MIN value is the lower temperature. If
the MAX value is set to +2 °C and the MIN value to -10 °C, the frost protection heating is switched on, when
the outdoor temperature is between +2 °C and -10 °C.
The temperature range values can be set with an accuracy of 0.5 degrees. Two sensors can be connected to
the thermostat. If two sensors are used simultaneously, the temperature must be within the set range for
both sensors in order for the thermostat to be activated.
Default: MAX: +2 °C / MIN: -10 °C
Range, MAX and MIN: +10 °C ... -20 °C
PROGRAM
You can optimize the energy consumption of the frost protection with a timer program.

TIMER
With the timer you can customize the frost protection to your actual needs. You can program up to four
switch on and switch o actions, that is 4 events per day. To start the timer program select ON and to stop
it select OFF.
Default: OFF

EDIT / EVENTS
You have several options how to set the events. You can program day by day or the whole week. It is nor-
mally easiest to set the whole week rst and then adjust this for the days requiring a dierent setting.
When you have selected the day(s), set the number of events (1 ... 4).

Set the number of events with
Parameter ON means, that the heating switches on during the set time, if necessary. Parameter NO means
that the heating function is switched o. Set the time for the events in the order in which they appear on
the display.
Example: You want snow melting to be deactivated between 22:00 ... 04:00 and 11:00 ... 15:00 every day, i.e.
the frost protection shall be active between 04:00 ... 11:00 and 15:00 ... 22:00. First select WEEK and then 2
EVENTS. The rst event is ON at 04:00 and OFF at 11:00. The second event is ON at 15:00 and OFF at 22:00.
RESET
Reset the program to the default MAX. and MIN. temperature settings and delete all the set events.
