2 Safety informaon and use
2.1 Requirements for the user
This operang manual is intended for persons assigned with operang and mon-
itoring the Fritsch PULVERISETTE 29. The operang manual and especially its
safety instrucons are to be observed by all persons working on or with this
device. In addion, the applicable rules and regulaons for accident prevenon
at the installaon site are to be observed. Always keep the operang manual at
the installaon site of the PULVERISETTE 29.
People with health problems or under the inuence of medicaon, drugs, alcohol
or exhauson must not operate this device.
The PULVERISETTE 29 may only be operated by authorised persons and serviced
or repaired by trained specialists. All commissioning, maintenance and repair
work may only be carried out by technically qualied personnel. Qualied per-
sonnel are persons who, because of their educaon, experience and training as
well as their knowledge of relevant standards, regulaons, accident prevenon
guidelines and operang condions, are authorised by those responsible for the
safety of the machine to carry out the required work and are able to recognize
and avoid possible hazards as dened for skilled workers in IEC 364.
In order to prevent hazards to users, follow the instrucons in this manual.
Malfuncons that impair the safety of persons, the PULVERISETTE 29 or other
material property must be reced immediately. The following informaon
serves both the personal safety of operang personnel as well as the safety
of the products described and any devices connected to them: All maintenance
and repair work may only be performed by technically qualied personnel.
This operang manual is not a complete technical descripon. Only the details
required for operaon and maintaining usability are described.
Fritsch has prepared and reviewed this operang manual with the greatest care.
However, no guarantee is made for its completeness or accuracy.

2.2 Scope of applicaon
NOTICE
This laboratory instrument is designed for an 8-hour shi oper-
aon at 30 % duty cycle and not for connuous operaon.
The duty cycle is dened as the rao of load duraon to run
me. The run me is dened as load duraon plus pause me.
According to DIN EN 60034-1 (VDE 0530, IEC34-1) a connuous
operaon already takes place aer a standardised run me of
10 minutes. At 30 % duty cycle (DC = rao of load duraon to
run me) a load duraon of 3 minutes and a pause me of 7
minutes would be within standard.
If the standardised run me of 10 minutes is exceeded, then,
by denion, there would be a connuous operaon and
disproporonate temperature increases may occur, possibly
involving increased wear.

The Mini - Cung Mill can be used for the fast comminuon of so, medium-
hard, brile, tough and brous materials like:
Sheet rubber, plascs, refuse-derived fuel, dry meat, leather, wood, coal, malt,
paper/cardboard, peat, animal feed, pasta, tablets, leaves, pellets, spices, fabric,
straw, maize, bones, roots, tobacco...
2.2.1 Operang principle
The material is fed into the cung chamber via a funnel. There, rotang knives
(13) in combinaon with xed knives (8) cut the material. The nely cut material
falls through a sieve cassee (7) into the collecng vessel (6).
2.3 Obligaons of the operator
Before using the PULVERISETTE 29, this manual is to be carefully read and
understood. The use of the PULVERISETTE 29 requires technical knowledge; only
commercial use is permied.
The operang personnel must be familiar with the content of the operang
manual. For this reason, it is very important that these persons actually receive
the present operang manual. Ensure that the operang manual is always near
the device.
The PULVERISETTE 29 may exclusively be used within the scope of applicaons
set down in this manual and within the framework of guidelines put forth in this
manual. In case of non-compliance or improper use, the customer assumes full
liability for the funconal capability of the PULVERISETTE 29 and for any damage
or injury arising from failure to full this obligaon.
By using the PULVERISETTE 29 the customer agrees with this and recognizes
that defects, malfuncons or errors cannot be completely excluded. To prevent
risk of damage to persons or property or of other direct or indirect damage,
resulng from this or other causes, the customer must implement sucient and
comprehensive safety measures for working with the PULVERISETTE 29.
Neither compliance with this manual nor the condions and methods used
during installaon, operaon, use and maintenance of the PULVERISETTE 29
can be monitored by Fritsch GmbH. Improper execuon of the installaon can
result in property damage and thus endanger persons. Therefore, we assume
absolutely no responsibility or liability for loss, damage or costs that result from
errors at installaon, improper operaon or improper use or improper mainte-
nance or are in any way connected to these.
The applicable accident prevenon guidelines must be complied with.
Generally applicable legal and other obligatory regulaons regarding environ-
mental protecon must be observed.

2.5 Device safety informaon
■Only use original accessories and original spare parts. Failure to observe this
instrucon can compromise the safety of the machine.
■Accident-proof conduct is to be strictly followed during all work.
■Comply with all currently applicable naonal and internaonal accident pre-
venon guidelines.
CAUTION
Wear hearing protecon!
If a noise level of 85 dB(A) is reached or exceeded, ear protec-
on should be worn to prevent hearing damage.

WARNING
The maximum accepted concentraon (MAC) levels of the rel-
evant safety guidelines must be observed; if necessary, venla‐
on must be provided or the machine must be operated under
an extractor hood.
DANGER
Explosion hazard!
−When Comminuon oxidizable substances, e.g. metals or
coal, there is a risk of spontaneous combuson (dust
explosion) if the share of ne parcles exceeds a cer-
tain percentage. When Comminuon these kinds of sub-
stances, special safety measures must be taken and the
work must be supervised from a specialist.
−The PULVERISETTE 29 is not explosion protected and is not
designed to comminute explosive materials.
■Do not remove the informaon signs.
NOTICE
Immediately replace damaged or illegible informaon signs.
■Unauthorised alteraon of the PULVERISETTE 29 will void Fritsch's declara-
on of conformity to European direcves and void the guarantee.
■Only use the PULVERISETTE 29 when it is in proper working order, as
intended and in a safety- and hazard-conscious manner adhering to the
operang manual. In parcular, immediately recfy any malfuncons that
could pose a safety hazard.
■If, aer reading the operang manual, there are sll quesons or problems,
please do not hesitate to contact our specialised personnel.
2.6 Protecve equipment
■Protecve equipment must be used as intended and must not be disabled or
removed.
■All protecve equipment must be checked regularly for completeness and
proper funconing.
■The Mini - Cung Mill is equipped with a safety lock, which also protects the
operator. This locks and unlocks the cung rotor (13) when the twist grip
(10) is turned. Furthermore, the safety lock with personal protecon funcon
prevents the operaon of the Mini - Cung Mill, if the cung chamber is not
properly closed.
■Do not operate the device without a funnel (1)!
The funnel (1) is a mechanical protecve device that enables hazard-free
lling.
■The hand guard (5) must not be removed. By removing the hand guard,
there is a risk of reaching into the running rotor during operaon without a
collecon vessel.

2.8 Electrical safety
2.8.1 Protecon against restart
If there is a power failure and subsequent return of the voltage during operaon,
the grinder stops and the grinding chamber can be opened.
2.8.2 Overload protecon
In the event of an overload, the frequency converter reports a malfuncon.

4.1 Transport
CAUTION
When liing o, at least 2 persons are required!
DANGER
Crushing hazard!
Due to falling during transport.
Wear safety shoes!
■When liing the device hold it underneath at the back and front.
WARNING
Improper liing can lead to personal injury or property
damage. The machine is only to be lied with suitable equip-
ment and by qualied personnel.
The guarantee excludes all claims for damage due to improper transport.
4.2 Unpacking
■Pull out the 4 nails that fasten the lid to the surrounding packaging. (for
delivery in a wooden crate!)
■Remove the lid.
■Take out the accessories and the foam parts.
■Then li the device out of the wooden crate or cardboard box.
■Please store the transport packaging so that it can be reused if you need to
return the product. Fritsch GmbH accepts no liability for damage caused by
improper packaging (packaging that is not from Fritsch).
■Compare the contents of your delivery with your order.
4.3 Seng up
NOTICE
Allow the device to acclimase for two hours before commis-
sioning. High temperature dierences can lead to condensaon
in the device and damage to the electronics aer switching on.
Strong temperature uctuaons can occur during transport or interim storage.
Depending on the temperature dierence between the installaon site and the
transport or storage environment, condensaon can form inside the device. This
can damage the electronics if the devices are switched on too early. Wait for at
least two hours aer setup before switching on the device.

NOTICE
Never operate PULVERISETTE 29 while it is standing on the
transport pallet!

Keep the air outlet on the side venlaon grate free. Risk of
overheang!
Place the PULVERISETTE 29 on a at, stable surface. Fastening to this surface is
not necessary.
■Ensure that the PULVERISETTE 29 is easily accessible.
4.4 Ambient condions
WARNING
Mains voltage
−The device may only be operated indoors.
−The surrounding air must not contain any electrically con-
ducve parcles.
−Maximum relave humidity 80% for temperatures up to 31
°C, linearly decreasing down to 50% relave humidity at 40
°C.
■The room temperature should be between 5 and 40 °C.
■Altudes up to 2000 m
■Degree of polluon 2 according to IEC 60664-1:2007.
4.5 Electrical connecon
Before establishing the connecon, compare the voltage and current values
stated on the type plate with the values of the mains system to be used.
(see ⮫ Chapter 3 ‘Technical data’ on page 13 ).

5.1 Switching on
1. Connect the device to the mains using the mains plug.
2. Switch on the main switch on the front of the device.
5.2 Funcon check
1. Check the seang of the rotor and the xed knives.
2. Close the grinding chamber.
3. Place the collecon vessel below the grinding chamber.
4. Press the START buon to switch on the device.
🡆The cung mill starts up.
5.3 Switching o
1. Press the STOP buon to switch o the device.
2. Switch o the main switch if the cung mill is to be idle for a longer period
of me (e.g. overnight).

WARNING
If the grinding elements used are not original accessories, we
provide no guarantee and exclude all liability for damage to the
device.
6.1 Opening the cung mill
1. Switch on the main switch on the front.
2. Turn handle (10) to unlock the grinding chamber door.
3. Open the grinding chamber door.
6.2 Inserng / changing the xed knives
Depending on the wear, the xed knives can be turned three
mes before they have to be replaced.
1. Open the cung mill (see ⮫
Chapter 6.1 ‘Opening the cung mill’
on page 19 ).
2. The xed knives are not screw-fastened and can be pulled out of the
respecve guide using the enclosed pulling tool.
3. When installing, make sure that all surfaces are clean and that the counter
knives are in contact with the grinding chamber rear wall!
6.3 Inserng / changing a rotor
CAUTION
Risk of injury!
Beware of the sharp edges of the rotor!
Wear safety gloves when changing the rotor!

Using the device
2. Using the supplied T20 Torx screwdriver, you can remove the rotor by
turning it an‐clockwise.
3. You can reinstall the rotor by turning it clockwise with the supplied T20
Torx screwdriver.
4. Close the cung mill (see ⮫
Chapter 6.5 ‘Closing the cung mill’
on page 20 ).
Turning the rotang knives:
Depending on the wear, the rotang knives can be turned
once before they have to be replaced.
1. Remove the rotor.
2. Remove the two screws of the rotang knives using the Allen key (AF 2)
provided.
3. Turn the knives through 180° horizontally and fasten them again using the
two screws.
6.4 Inserng / changing a sieve cassee
1. Open the cung mill (see ⮫
Chapter 6.1 ‘Opening the cung mill’
on page 19 ).
2. Pull the sieve cassee (7) out to the front. The rotor (13) does not need to
be removed.

oughly, so that everything can be closed ghtly again.

6.5 Closing the cung mill
1. Before closing the cung mill, clean the cung chamber, the contact
surfaces of the housing and, in parcular, the locking surfaces of the lock.
2. Close the grinding chamber door.
3. Turn the handle to lock.

‘lock state’ LED on the
control panel lights up green.
