QUICK START MUSIC STREAMING INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR SELECT 2000-12 GM CLASS-II RADIOS

Introduction:
Many GM owners will be pleased to know that they can upgrade the audio system
to support Bluetooth music streaming without changing the radio. The BLU-GM3
connects to the 12-pin port on select 2000-12 radios and replaces factory
External CD Changer** or XM (if present). A Bluetooth wireless connection
means no wires, clutter or complicated setup. All the user has to do is connect
module to the radio, pair Smartphone or Tablet and enjoy GPS, Music Apps, audio
books and more on the car system without wires or complicated setup.

Installation:
1. Remove GM radio from dashboard to gain access to connectors.
(Vehicle specific radio removal instruction are not part of this guide,
but available upon request)
2. Once radio has is removed, disconnect 12-pin plug (f present) from
radio (See Fig.1 &2)

3. Connect adapter harness 12-pin plug (See Fig. 3) to radio 12-pin port
(See Fig. 2)

There may or may not be a 12-pin plug connected
to radio. Always connect male 12-pin plug from
adapter harness to radio. If radio did not have a 12-
pin plug, harness other end remains empty.
4. Connect/Tap installation harness yellow wire to a +12V Battery
(constant) supply and black wire to Ground.
5. Connect/Tap red wire to 12V ACC supply in fuse block or elsewhere

Red wire must be connected to 12V supply controlled
by ignition key. Verify correct voltage/operation
prior to proceeding to next step. Red wire must
never be connected to 12V battery source.
6. Connect installation harness 22-pin Molex plug (See Fig. 3) to module
22-pin connector (See Fig. 4)

7. They are 3 possible dip-switch settings for GM radios. The most
common is by turning 3 and 8 “ON”or down (See Fig. 5); however if
radio does not enter aux mode, disconnect module and turn 1, 3, and 8
“ON”or down, reconnect and test. If radio still does not enter aux
mode, disconnect module, and turn 2, 3, and 8 “ON”or down
reconnect and test. Please note to always disconnect power from
module when making changes to dip-switch settings.

8. Secure and proceed to next section.
Pairing:
Pairing varies among deices but basic steps are the same.
1. Turn Ignition and radio “ON”
2. On A2DP device: go to Bluetooth Settings
3. Select Bluetooth and turn on.
4. Select Bluetooth settings
5. Tap Scan for devices .
6. Wait for Bluetooth device name to appear and select it.
LED inside module will glow steady (paired)
Test Operation:
1. Turn ignition to “ACC”or “ON”and turn on radio
2. Press “AUX” button on radio
3. Launch Smartphone or tablet streaming application.
4. Ensure smartphone volume level is set to 75% or higher
5. Use radio volume knob to set the playback level.
Playlist and Track selection is *NOT* possible from
radio. Use audio device built-in controls or optional
wireless remote control to access and control the
audio files.
6. If correct operation is confirmed go ahead and reinstall radio.

Optional Smart Remote:
Smart remote is optional and not required for the BLU-CM3 to work,
however instead of trying to juggle a phone while driving, simply press the
remote buttons which can be mounted to steering wheel.

1. Control music wirelessly
2. Activate VR commands (Not for Siri.)
3. Track up/down
4. Volume up/down

Android 4.4 and higher.

Frequent asked questions
1. Does the BLU-GM3 work in vehicles with a 6-CD changer radio
(changer built-into radio)
YES; but radio must also have a “TAPE AUX” or “CD AUX” button
2. I have both an external CD changer and XM; do I need to disconnect
anything for the BLU-GM3 to work?
YES; both XM and remote CD changer must be disconnected. Purchase the
A2DIY-GM3x to retain XM or remote CD changer.
3. If I decide to remove the BLU-GM3, will I have any troubles with the
wiring?
NO; the BLU-GM3 installation harness does not interfere with factory wiring
integrity and once disconnected, everything will work as it did prior.
4. Can I use the BLU-GM3 for Bluetooth hands free calling?
NO; the BLU-GM3 only supports Bluetooth streaming audio. Purchase our
A2DIY-GM3 or A2DIY-GM3x for hands-free and music streaming applications
5. Module LED is flashing and able to pair phone, but no matter how many
times I press the AUX button, radio does not enter AUX mode. Any
ideas?
Most Class-II radios require module pins 3 and 8 to be ‘ON” (down), or 1, 3
and 8 or 2, 3 and 8. To change settings first disconnect module from
harness (power), make necessary changes and reconnect module. Damage
to module may occur if dip-switch changes are made with power applied to
module.
