Proper servicing and adjustment is key to the long life of all farm equipment. With careful and systematic
inspection of equipment, costly maintenance, time and repair can be avoided. The following information
will assist with recommended servicing and adjustments:

Side To Side Leveling:
Note: Ensure the machine is leveled front to rear prior to
leveling the machine side to side.
1) With the machine completely unfold and lowered 1-2”
off of the ground and the hydraulic fore & aft set to “C”,
adjust the wing wheels so that the gangs are the same
distance off of the ground as the center blades.
Hydraulic Hose Hookup:
Great Plains hydraulic hoses have colored coded han-
dle grips to help hook up hoses to the tractor remotes.
Hoses with the same color use the same remote.
Hydraulic Hose Hookup
Color Function
Black Lift (2 Hoses)
Green Fold (2 Hoses)
Red Hydraulic Leveling (2 Hoses)
Yellow Accessory (2 Hoses)
Tire Inflation Chart:
Ensure all tires are inflated to the proper operating pres-
sure per the table to the right. Note: Proper inflation is
important to ensure safe transport and level operation of
the Disk Harrow.
Tire Pressure
Position Size Pressure
Wing 12.5Lx15 12-Ply 52 PSI
Transport 340/60 R16.5 73 PSI
Transport 380/55 R16.5 73 PSI
Hydr. Gauge Wheel 11Lx15 12-Ply 52 PSI
Manual Gauge
Wheel 9.5x15 8-Ply 44 PSI
Front To Rear Leveling:
Note: Prior to leveling the machine front to rear, raise
the machine completely up and hold the hydraulic valve
open for 30 seconds to be certain the hydraulic system
is re-phased.
1) On a smooth level surface, completely unfold and
lower the machine until the gangs are 1-2” off of the
ground.
2) Adjust the hydraulic fore & aft so that the gauge
reads “C”.
3) Once the gauge reads “C” adjust the hitch turnbuckle
until the front and rear gangs are equal distances off the
ground.

Hydraulic Single Point Depth Stop Adjustment:
The hydraulic depth stop will ensure a consistent depth
every time the machine is lowered.
1) Prior to setting the single point depth stop, ensure
that the machine is completely level front to back and
side to side.
2) Lower the machine to the desired working depth and
pull forward. Once satisfied with the working depth,
adjust the depth stop handle to make contact with the
depth stop valve. Note: If a change of depth is desired,
1 full turn on the depth stop handle either in or out will
change the depth of the machine approximately 1/4” up
or down.
49394
Gauge Wheel Adjustment:
Note: The gauge wheels are desired to run 1/2” above
the ground when operating in the field.
1) With the machine lowered into the desired operating
position, remove the wire retaining pin and adjust the
gauge wheel crank either up or down until the gauge
wheels are 1/2” above the ground. Note: The gauge
wheels are designed to correspond to the single point
depth stop. If the depth stop is increased one full revolu-
tion then the gauge wheels need to be increased one
full revolution, ect.
48746
Spike Drag Adjustment:
Spike drags come factory set with 5 chain links hanging
from the bottom drag arm slot. The cleaner the ground,
the shorter the pull chains may be pulled up. Note:
Ensure that the spike drag is never pulling off of the
hang chains. If so, shorten the chains.

Heavy Coil Tine Adjustment:
1) To change the angle of the coil tine, rotate the locking
pin and move the adjustment handle either forward or
backwards. Moving the adjustment handle towards the
rear of the machine makes the drag more aggressive
while moving the handle towards the front of the
machine will allow residue to flow easier.
