Safety Guidelines
Safety guidelines are general-to-specific safety rules that must be followed at all times. This manual is
written to help you understand safe operating procedures and problems that can be encountered by the
operator and other personnel when using this equipment. Read and save these instructions.
As owner or operator, you are responsible for understanding the requirements, hazards, and precautions
that exist and to inform others as required. Unqualified persons must stay out of the work area at all
times.
Alterations must not be made to the equipment. Alterations can produce dangerous situations resulting in
SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH.
This equipment must be installed in accordance with the current installation codes and applicable regula-
tions, which must be carefully followed in all cases. Authorities having jurisdiction must be consulted
before installations are made.
When necessary, you must consider the installation location relative to electrical, fuel and water utilities.
Personnel operating or working around equipment must read this manual. This manual must be delivered
with equipment to its owner. Failure to read this manual and its safety instructions is a misuse of the
equipment.

Follow Safety Instructions
• Carefully read all safety messages in this manual and safety
signs on your machine. Keep signs in good condition.
Replace missing or damaged safety signs. Be sure new
equipment components and repair parts include the current
safety signs. Replacement safety signs are available from
the manufacturer.
• Learn how to operate the machine and how to use controls
properly. Do not let anyone operate without instruction.
• If you do not understand any part of this manual or need
assistance, contact your dealer.

Maintain Equipment and Work Area
• Understand service procedures before doing work. Keep
area clean and dry.
• Never service equipment while it is operating. Keep hands,
feet, and clothing away from moving parts.
• Keep your equipment in proper working condition. Replace
worn or broken parts immediately.

Sharp Edge Hazard
• This product has sharp edges, which can cause serious
injury.
• To avoid injury, handle sharp edges with caution and always
use proper protective clothing and equipment.

Fall Hazard
• Ladders, stairways and platforms are for use by competent
and trained personnel only. Do not allow children or other
unauthorized persons to have access to the equipment.
• Access to the equipment must be restricted by the use of
security fencing and lockable gates.
• Lower sections of ladders must be fitted with a lockable
safety gate to prevent unauthorized access.
• Make sure that hot surfaces have had adequate time to cool
before working on or in the equipment.
• Lock out and tag out power supplies and fuel supplies to all
equipment.
• Do not attach lifting equipment to ladders or platforms.
• Do not go outside of the safety rails provided on elevated
platforms.
• Do not work at heights during high winds, rain, snow, or ice
storms.

Stay Clear of Hoisted Equipment
• Always use proper lifting or hoisting equipment when assem-
bling or disassembling equipment
• Do not walk or stand under hoisted equipment.
• Always use sturdy and stable supports when needed for
installation. Not following these safety precautions creates
the risk of falling equipment, which can crush personnel and
cause serious injury or death.

Confined Space Hazards and Entry Procedures
• Note that the interior of this equipment is considered a con-
fined space. Maintenance of this equipment can require
access to the confined space.
• Access doors must be shut and locked except when access
is required.
• Doors giving access to dangerous equipment must be safety
interlocked.
• The following entry procedures must be followed:
— Be aware of all possible hazards present inside the con-
fined space and wear personal protective equipment
(PPE) as needed.
— Complete a permit to work and follow all permit required
confined space entry procedures defined by the site
manager.
— Make sure that the area has been purged of any hazard-
ous products or gases. Check the atmosphere for harm-
ful gases or vapors with a suitable gas analyzer and
make sure levels are safe before entering.
— Do not smoke or use naked flames.
— Lock out and tag out power supplies and fuel supplies to
all equipment.
— Do not work alone. Work in teams of at least three so
that help is immediately available in the event of an
emergency.
— Confirm that all personnel have safely exited the equip-
ment and tools have been recovered once work is
complete.

Important Notes on Use of Grain Bin Eave Towers
1. Grain bin eave towers should be mounted only on specific special gauge stiffener columns. It is
necessary to obtain the specific gauge sheet from GSI/AGCO Grain for the bin to which the eave
tower is installed. Use the gauge sheet to confirm the locations and placement of the special
columns. The grain bin eave towers should be installed only on those stiffener columns.
2. The owner or project manager or other responsible party must properly coordinate the construction
of the special bin stiffener columns and grain bin eave towers. Proper orientation must be
determined by the system planner for the site layout and provide instructions based on the required
orientation for the site construction documents.
3. The maximum axial load on the grain bin eave tower for the 20K versions is 40000 lbs. with each
column supporting up to a maximum of 20000 lbs. The maximum axial load for the 10K versions is
20000 lbs. with each column supporting up to a maximum of 10000 lbs. The system planner or other
parties are responsible for determining and making sure that the maximum load is not exceeded.
4. The grain bin eave towers are intended to support only vertical loads and the lateral loads are
negligible.
5. The system planner must incorporate the adequate allowance for the movement in the overall
system such as bin settlements, shrinkage and expansion after filling the bin or other related
movements so that the improper loads are not applied to the grain bin and grain bin eave towers.
6. Additional stiffener anchor provisions may be required depending on the uplift load induced by the
towers being attached. Confirm with the bin manufacturer if the uplift loads to the bin are acceptable.
7. The system planner or other responsible parties must plan for any additional loads applied on the
foundation by the addition of eave towers and provide the information of such loads to the foundation
design engineer.
8. The owner or system planner or other responsible parties must ensure the grain bin eave tower
installed is designed to accept the applied loading and compatible with the system attached to the
bin.
9. Make sure adequate measures for stability during construction and lifting of the bin as planned.
10.Additional tieback members are required for tower configurations with a single knee brace. The
tieback members will need to be checked by a qualified structural engineer to ensure they have
sufficient strength and stiffness to prevent excessive deflection of the eave tower.
11.It is required that the applied load onto the eave tower is split evenly to both catwalk diagonal
members at the support locations.

Attach the diagonal bracing top clip (10) and diagonal bracing bottom clip (11) to the ends of the diagonal
bracing (13) using 7/16" x 1-1/4" HHCS bolts (1), 7/16" flat washers (5) and 7/16" flange nuts (6).
NOTE: Install nuts (6) to the inside of the bracing (13) flanges.

Assembling the Main Tower
1. Slide the main tower leg inserts (17) into the main tower legs (15 and 16) from the top, until the top
edges are flush.

2. Assemble the horizontal bracing clips (12) to the main tower left leg (15) using 7/16" x 1-1/4" HHCS
bolts (1), 7/16" flat washers (5) and 7/16" flange nuts (6).
NOTE: Install nuts (6) to the inside of the leg (15) flanges.

3. Assemble the horizontal bracing clips (12) to the main tower right leg (16) using 7/16" x 1-1/4"
HHCS bolts (1), 7/16" flat washers (5) and 7/16" flange nuts (6).
NOTE: Install nuts (6) to the inside of the leg (16) flanges.

4. Connect the main tower left and right legs by installing the horizontal bracings (14) to the horizontal
bracing clips (12) using 7/16" x 1-1/4" HHCS bolts (1), 7/16" flat washers (5) and 7/16" flange nuts
(6).
NOTE: Install nuts (6) to the inside of the bracing (14) flanges.

5. Install the diagonal bracing clips (10 and 11) to the main tower left and right legs (15 and 16) using
7/16" x 1-1/4" HHCS bolts (1), 7/16" flat washers (5) and 7/16" flange nuts (6).
NOTE: Install nuts (6) to the inside of the leg (15 or 16) flanges.

Chapter 3: Assembling the Tower
6. Assemble a catwalk diagonal (20) along with a catwalk lamination (21) to each side of the main
tower left and right legs (15 and 16) using 1/2" x 1-1/4" flange bolts (2) and 1/2" flange nuts (7).
NOTE:
a. Make sure to position the top flange (facing the tower legs) of the catwalk diagonal (20)
under the top flange of the catwalk lamination (21).
b. The catwalk lamination (21) is applicable only for 20K towers and not for 10K towers.
c. Install nuts (7) to the inside of the leg (15 or 16) flanges.
7. Also assemble a catwalk support brace (22) between the catwalk diagonals (20) as shown using
1/2" x 1-1/4" flange bolts (2) and 1/2" flange nuts (7).

Assembling the Tower Knee Braces
1. Assemble the horizontal bracing clips (12) to the knee brace left leg (18) using 7/16" x 1-1/4" HHCS
bolts (1), 7/16" flat washers (5) and 7/16" flange nuts (6).
NOTE: Install nuts (6) to the inside of the leg (18) flanges.

2. Assemble the horizontal bracing clips (12) to the knee brace right leg (19) using 7/16" x 1-1/4"

3. Connect the knee brace left and right legs by installing the horizontal bracings (14) to the horizontal
bracing clips (12) using 7/16" x 1-1/4" HHCS bolts (1), 7/16" flat washers (5) and 7/16" flange nuts
(6).
NOTE: Install nuts (6) to the inside of the bracing (14) flanges.

4. Install the diagonal bracing clips (10 and 11) to the knee brace left and right legs (18 and 19) using
7/16" x 1-1/4" HHCS bolts (1), 7/16" flat washers (5) and 7/16" flange nuts (6).

5. Install one catwalk support bracket (23) to the inner side of each of the knee brace legs (18 and 19)
using 1/2" x 1-1/4" flange bolts (2) and 1/2" flange nuts (7).
NOTE: Install nuts (7) to the inside of the leg (18 or 19) flanges.
