Operation

1
Prepare a folk column the end of which has
been processed at a right angle using a work
stand or a bench vise and a saw guide. The
end must be a right angle otherwise the star-
fangled nut could be installed incompletely.
Thread an applicable sized star-fangled nut
onto the set screw tip of the punch screwing
clockwise.

Make sure that the set screw is secured (use a
hex. wrench 3 mm). Check the size of the fork
column. Combine the guide barrel and the
punch so that they will be appropriate for the fork
size. (Refer to the illustration on page 1.)

Unscrew the punch counterclockwise to
release it from the star-fangled nut installed
in the fork column.

Insert the tool with the star-fangled nut
onto the fork column while pulling up the
punch by its handle portion so that the
star-fangled nut will be positioned in the
inner part of the guide barrel.

While securely holding the guide barrel
strike down the punch to sink the star-
fangled nut 15 mm into the fork column
(which is the standard insertion depth for
star-fangled nuts).
This time, surely thread the star-fangled nut until
snug. Otherwise, the star-fangled nut could be
installed incompletely.
Caution
● Do not strike the punch after installation is complete. Otherwise, this could damage
the fork column or the tool.
● Always use star-fangled nuts applicable to the fork column.
