1.6 Fingerprint
1.6.1 How do I set a screen unlock fingerprint?
Go to Settings and touch Fingerprint ID.
Before you enroll your fingerprint, set a screen unlock PIN or password as the backup unlock
mode.
Record your PIN or password. Once lost, it cannot be retrieved. If you forget your PIN or
password, you have to unlock the screen using your fingerprint, back up important data, and
contact your service provider to forcibly update your phone or restore your phone to its
factory settings.

If you have entered incorrect fingerprints for the specified number of times, your phone will
begin a 30-second countdown, during which time you can only unlock the screen using your
password. After the 30 seconds, you can unlock the screen using your fingerprint again.
1.6.2 How do I enroll my fingerprint?
After you set a PIN or password, follow the onscreen instructions to enroll your fingerprint.
When you are enrolling your fingerprint, press your finger against the fingerprint sensor on
the back of your phone for about 0.5 seconds, and continue to press the edges of your finger.
A total number of 6 fingerprint images will be enrolled.
It will be easier for your phone to read your fingerprint if the fingerprint area you enrolled is
larger. Therefore, carefully enroll the center area and the edges of your fingerprint.
Note the following:
1. Fingerprints change with different environmental elements, such as temperature,
humidity, power of hydrogen, and oiliness. The fingerprint enrolling and reading are also
affected by fingerprint patterns.
2. Before you enroll your fingerprint, clean your fingers. Keep your fingers in a moderate
humidity and oiliness conditions. If your fingers are too dry or oily, your phone may fail
to read your fingerprint.
3. If your fingers often sweat, it is recommended that you use tissues to wipe your fingers
before you unlock the screen.
4. You only need to slightly press your finger against the sensor to enroll your fingerprint.
Do not scratch the fingerprint sensor. If your fingers are dry, you may need to press your
finger against the sensor more strongly.

1.6.3 What are the functions of my fingerprint?
You can enroll five sets of fingerprints in normal mode and visitor mode respectively, and
open applications using those fingerprints. For example, instead of entering the password, you
can use your fingerprint to unlock your screen, log in to your cloud account, unlock your
applications, and access your file safe.
You can set all these functions on the Fingerprint ID screen.
Create a fingerprint and enroll it to your fingerprint list.
The fingerprint sensor can be used as a touch-sensitive button. In Camera, press and hold the
sensor for 1 second to take a photo. This function is especially convenient for taking selfies.
1. App lock
If you don't want others to open some applications, such as WeChat, on your phone, use the
fingerprint function to lock them. These applications can only be unlocked when you enter
your fingerprint.

Go to Settings > Fingerprint ID, and enable the application lock function.
Go to Phone Manager > App lock, set the app lock password, and choose applications you
want to lock.
2. Huawei cloud service
Use your fingerprint for cloud account identification in important data operations. For
example, use your fingerprint to find your phone.
Use your fingerprint to modify the security information settings of your cloud account, or log
out from your account.
Use your fingerprint to pay for online purchases.
3. Safe
You can store your financial and other private files in the safe and lock the safe using your
fingerprint.
Go to Settings > Fingerprint ID, and turn on Access safe.
Go to File manager > Categories > Safe, set the safe password, and choose files to be
protected.
4. Visitor mode and normal mode
Your phone supports visitor mode and normal mode. In visitor mode, your private information
is blocked.
Press your right finger against the sensor to enter normal mode and press your left finger to
enter visitor mode. For example, when your child is playing with your phone, set your phone
to visitor mode.
Go to Settings > Fingerprint ID, and set your PIN or password and enroll your fingerprint.
Go to Settings > Security > Privacy & security, enter the PIN or password, and the
fingerprint to unlock the screen will be displayed.
Touch Let's start, and enter the visitor password to enter visitor mode. You can select a
fingerprint from the owner fingerprints or create one to enter visitor mode.
Then you can select the content you want to keep private in visitor mode. To view the owner
fingerprint and visitor fingerprint, go to Settings > Security > Privacy & security > Manage
fingerprint.
When your screen is off or locked, enter visitor mode or owner mode using corresponding
fingerprint.
1.7 How do I assign a photo to a contact?
You can only assign photos to contacts saved in your phone memory.
From the Edit contact screen:
1. Touch above the contact name.
2. From the displayed option menu, choose a photo source, and follow the onscreen
instructions to select a photo.

From Gallery or File Manager:
1. In Gallery or File Manager, open a photo.
2. Touch > Set as > Contact photo, select or create a contact, and follow the
onscreen instructions to adjust the photo. When you are done, touch .

1.7.2 How many contacts can my phone save?
At least 2000 contacts can be saved to your phone (depending on the available storage space).
The number of contacts can be saved to your micro-SIM card varies with the micro-SIM card.

On the contacts editing screen, touch Group name and select a group.
Go to Contacts, open the Favorites tab, select a group, and touch Add members to add
contacts to that group.
