1. Overview
1.1 Upgrade Instructions
To ensure successful upgrade, please read the following instructions carefully before upgrading:
This document is only used to instruct customers to upgrade the software of specific radio to
R2.05.05Please refer to 1.3 Applicable Models and Versions for more details.
Make sure that USB to Uart driver is installed on the computer; if not, please install the driver before
upgrading.
After successful upgrade, use V2.05.02.001or later CPS to reprogram the radio.
To ensure successful upgrade, do not run other applications of the Company during upgrade. If the
upgrade process is interrupted by running other applications, please restart the radio and try again.
Do not disconnect the power supply of the radio during upgrade. If the power supply is cut off or
upgrade failure occurs, please restart the radio and try again.
If the prompt “Reading data error!” or “Writing data error!” appears during upgrade, please restart the
radio and try again.
1.2 Confirming the Firmware Version
Caution
Please confirm the following conditions before upgrading. If the conditions are not satisfies, stop
upgrading the radio; otherwise, the radio may be damaged.
Firmware version of the radio to be upgraded must comply with the upgrade requirements.
Firmware version of the radio must be upgraded to later version.
Step 1 Use the CPS of earlier version to read the radio to be upgraded.
Step 2 Click “Radio Information” to check whether the Firmware Version and Model Number comply
with the requirements in 1.3 Applicable Models and Versions.
Step 3 Disconnect the CPS and the radio.
Step 4 Turn off the radio.

2. PD35X/PD36X Upgrade Guide
2.1 Upgrade Procedure
2.1.1 Starting Upgrade
Step 1 Turn off the radio.
Step 2 Connect the radio to the computer using the programming cable.
Step 3 Hold down the SK1 key to power up the radio. Wait for 3-5 seconds and the radio will enter
download mode.
Step 4 Select an appropriate port from COM Port.
Step 5 Click the “Upgrade” button to start upgrade. The prompt “Click "Upgrade" button to start...”
above the progress bar will be changed to “Updating, please wait...”.
The progress bar will display the progress after about five seconds. The prompt “All upgrade
completed successfully!” will appear upon successful downloading.
Step 6 Check the firmware version after upgrade and the upgrade is completed.
2.1.2 After-upgrade Check
The firmware version of the radio will be R2.05after successful upgrade. You can check whether the
upgrade is successful through the following method:
Step 1 Turn on the radio.
Step 2 Press the Menu key in the home screen to enter the “main menu” interface.

Step 3 Press the Down key to select “Settings”.
Step 4 Press the OK key to enter the “Settings” interface.
Step 5 Press the Down key to select “Device Info.”.
Step 6 Press the OK key to view the detailed radio information.
Confirm the Firmware Version is V2.05.05.001 and Radio Data Version is D2.05.01.002 (read
by CPS).
Step 7 Correct information indicates successful upgrade. Turn off the radio to finish checking.
2.1.3 Upgrade Failure
Q: Why the prompt “Failed to connections radio. Please check all connections and port settings!”
appears upon downloading?
A: This issue may be caused by the following reasons:
Programming cable connection failure or incorrect port selection;
The radio fails to enter the download mode. Repeat Step 3 to 5 in 2.1.1 Starting Upgrade and try
again.
Q: Why the download procedure is interrupted?
A: Repeat Step 3 to 5 in 2.1.1 Starting Upgrade and try again.
