Quick Start Guide WELLJET Dispenser / Dispenser Stacker
This quick start guide is intended to provide a quick overview of your WELLJET’s key
features and to offer basic instructions for getting started. For detailed information,
please refer to the latest operating instructions (OI) that can be found at www.integra-
biosciences.com in different languages.
Intended Use
This is a general-purpose laboratory instrument. Any use of this instrument in a medical or IVD
setting is the sole responsibility of the user. WELLJET is a rapid reagent dispenser in the volume
range of 0.5 –9’999 µl using different dispensing cassettes.
Safety information
Regardless of the listed safety notes, all locally applicable regulations must be observed.
1) This product may only be operated in a secure, protected network with trustworthy clients.
2) WELLJET may only be used by properly trained personnel in a manner specified by INTEGRA
Biosciences.
3) Observe the hazard warnings on the device. Keep the plate carrier moving area free of any
labware and keep hands away.
4) Do not use the device near flammable material or in an atmosphere with danger of explosion.
Also, do not dispense highly flammable liquids such as acetone or ether.
5) Servicing work andrepairs may only be performed by INTEGRA Biosciences or an authorized
after-sales service member.
Getting started
Set up the instrument on a perfectly horizontal surface.
Supply voltage: 100 Hz3 6– 47 240 VAC, – .
Insert the adapter cable in the socket on the right side of the WELLJET and connect the adapter via
a 3-core cable to the electricity mains.

Switch on/off:
Press the main switch on the right side.
Switch on the device. Press OK to initialize the WELLJET.
Remove hands from WELLJET during initialization and operation.

Language settings
Press the icon to access the Settings menu. Adjust the language, the date and time, and the
display brightness.
Defining microplates and dispense program
The plate library is used to define the dimensions of the used microplates. In the Main Menu click on
library and New. Enter the plate type, the well number, and the heights.
From the Main Menu select New Dispense to set up and save a dispense program.
Installing the dispensing cassette
Follow the instructions of the tutorial displayed when opening the hood (a).
•Hold the cassette with one hand, the tubings are showing
backwards.
•Insert the four pins of the cassette into the slots of the holder.
•Move the front part of the cassette down until the two pins audibly
click into position.
•Move the rear part down, the lever (g) turns to the closed lock ( ).
•Place the tubings in the opening of the holder and close the hood.
Running a program
1. Hang the tubing ends with the weight into the reagent vessel.
2. Select a previously defined dispense program from the Main Menu.
3. Press Prime until liquid is dispensed from the nozzles.
4. Press Run to start the dispense program.
5. At the end of the program –if your protocol allows –press and keep Recover to pull the liquid
from the tubings back into the source container.
6. Release the tubing tension by turning the lever (g) to the right as far as possible ( ). This rest
position will extend the life of the cassette.
7. Before prolonged standby, flush the cassette and store it in the original tray.
If you want to pause the program, press Pause.
Maintenance
Always switch off the device and disconnected form the electricity supply when carrying
out maintenance work.
•Use one of the cleaning programs to flush the tubings of the dispensing cassette with deionized
water or, if necessary, with washing detergent or 70 % ethanol followed with deionized water.
Aspirate air to empty the tubings. Remove the cassette and store it in the original tray.
•The dispensing cassettes can be autoclaved at 121 °C for 20 min.
•Clean the WELLJET housing with a lint-free cloth lightly soaked with mild soap solution in
distilled water or with a 70 % solution of isopropanol or ethanol.
•To decontaminate the WELLJET, wipe the clean instrument surface with a lint-free cloth lightly
soaked with a suitable disinfectant and wipe dry directly. The device may be decontaminated
with H2O2gas (maximal concentration 35 %) for 60 minutes.

Unpacking
Two persons are required to lift the WELLJET Dispenser Stacker. Hold the WELLJET firmly on
both sides of the instrument base. In addition, you can lift the WELLJET Dispenser Stacker on the
silver tower bars (k).
Installation
Hold a tower on the guiding rods and put it on the stacker. Slide the tower to the back until it
audible clicks into position.
Open the tower doors and slide a stack of empty plates to the back of the left tower. Close the
doors.
Programming
Define the correct plate height parameter for plates or lidded plates, if applicable, using the included
plate measuring tool (n). Also define the Stacker options in the dispense program.
Running
Insert the plates in the left tower, select a program and press Run. The plate carrier picks up the
lowest plate without lid from the left tower, dispenses it, takes the lid –if applicable –and places
the plate in the right tower.
Removal
To remove the plates from tower, press the tower release lever (k), hold a guiding rod and slide the
tower a little bit to the front. Hold the tower with one hand on the handle and the other hand on the
frame at the bottom of the tower. Lift and remove the tower
Equipment Disposal
WELLJET must not be disposed of with unsorted municipal waste.
Dispose of WELLJET in accordance with the regulations in your area governing disposal
of devices. In certain regions and countries, e.g. in EU member states, the distributor is
obliged to take back this product free of charge at the end of life. Please contact your
local distributor for more details.
