Thank you for purchasing our Classic Porch Rocker. Assembly of this product requires a
small brush, a rubber mallet and a Phillips screwdriver. We have found it helpful to have a
second person present during the assembly process.

TOOLS NEEDED
Rubber Mallet, Philips Head Screwdriver and Small
Brush
STEP 1
Read through these instructions thoroughly before
beginning assembly. We have found this to be of
great value when first assembling this product. If
you have questions, LL Bean has customer service
specialists waiting to assist you at [phone].
STEP 2
Remove all parts and hardware from packing
material. Wooden pieces should be placed on a non-
abrasive surface (like the foam packing material) to
prevent damage to the finish.
STEP 3
Identify all parts using diagram at right.

Identify and count hardware using diagram at right.
Assembly of this product requires a rubber mallet
and medium head Phillips screwdriver. A damp
cloth is also helpful in wiping off excess glue. We
have found it helpful to have a second person
present during the assembly process.
Assemble in the order as directed.
It is our suggestion that you assemble the chair
without glue one time. Once glue is used, plan to
assemble at one time to avoid glue setting before
assembly is completed.
Long Screws 3/16" x 1 3/4" (2)

NOTE: WE RECOMMEND RUBBING THE THREADS OF THE
SCREW OVER A BAR OF SOAP TO EASE INSTALLATION.

STEP 5
Using one full packet of glue, fill the four bottom
holes (2 on each side) of the seat back (and as
labeled on the picture) using an equal amount of
glue in each hole. Leave the top two holes empty for
now. Make sure to spread the glue on the inside
walls of each hole with a fingertip or brush.
STEP 6
Insert the 4 side stretchers into 4 (2 on each side)
glue-filled holes on Seat Back.
STEP 7
Once side stretchers are in place, attach seat
assembly by inserting the back seat rail on the two
pins already installed on the rail of the back seat.

STEP 8
Utilizing the Front of the Seat, use equal amounts of
glue, and spread on sides and back of holes.
Leave enough glue for the remaining 2 holes on
seat back for the arms.
STEP 9
Attach front of seat.
Please note that there are also two pins on the rail of
the front of the seat where the seat should be
attached to.
STEP 10
Gently use a rubber mallet while protecting the parts
with packing foam.
Be sure to securely seat dowels in the holes.

STEP 11
Attach the runners .
Using glue, apply in the runner holes and on the ends of each
post. Attach runners to the posts, using medium screws (3/16” x
13/8”).
Attempting to force the runners to fit will damage them. You
may have to gently tap the front of the rocker post until the
bottom lines up exactly with the hole in the runner. It is
important that they be lined up EXACTLY to avoid damage to
the runner. Be sure to securely seat dowels in the holes.
Be sure runners are securely attached to the dowels and that
screws are in the recessed area of the runners to prevent marring
floors.

STEP 12
Attach the arms
Apply glue in the holes of the arms and remaining
holes on back posts and install them first into the
back posts and secondly into the front of seat.
(Please observe there are left and right arms)
STEP 13
Gently use a rubber mallet (as shown), protecting the
parts with foam

STEP 14
After they are in place, attach the arms to the back
posts using the long screws (3/16” x 1 3/4”).
STEP 15
After they are in place, attach arms to the front posts
using the short screws (3/16” x 1 3/16”).
WARNING: FOR YOUR
SAFETY, WAIT 24 HOURS
BEFORE USING CHAIR
TO ALLOW THE GLUE TO
FULLY DRY AND SET.
PRODUCT CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Clean with soap and water as needed. A mild
solution of bleach and water can be used if
any mildewing occurs. As the finish
weathers, the Rocking Chair can be touched
up or refinished with any exterior grade
paint.
