The Three-Quarter Nelson can be installed with the Cross Bar [C] forward [Fg.1] (facing the truck cab) or rearward [Fg.
2] (towards the tailgate).
This manual illustrates the Cross Bar [C] facing forward (towards the truck bed). To face the Cross Bar rearward (towards
the tailgate) follow all of the same steps and simply reverse the orientation towards the tailgate.
NOTE: Users with SpinWing™ 2-Bike Accessory Expansion (sold separately, PN B01823) will repeat Steps 6 - 15 for each
additional SpinWing add-on.

STEP 1: Preparation

Place Side Bar A [A] onto one side of the truck
bed with the adjustment plates on the interior of
the truck bed. [Fg. 3 & 4]
In the same manor, place Side Bar B [B] onto
the opposite side of the truck bed so that is
parallel and in-line with Side Bar A [A].
Place the Cross Bar [C] on top of Side Bar A [A]
and Side Bar B [B] so that is rests perpendicular
over the Shoulder Plates located on both Side
Bars. [Fg. 5]
Connect the Cross Bar [C] to Side Bar A
[A] and Side Bar B [B] by placing Four (4)
Shoulder Brackets [D] (two per Side Bar)
over the Cross Bar aligning the holes in
the Shoulder Brackets with the holes in
Side Bar Shoulder Plates.
Connect the Shoulder Brackets [D] to
the Side Bars [A & B] by threading eight
(8) 8mm x 1 Bolts [E] with eight (8) 5/16”
Split Washers [F] through the bottom
of the Side Bars and into the Shoulder
Brackets as shown. [Fg. 6 & 7]

STEP 5: Double Bolt Assembly
Install the threaded post of one (1) Double Bolt Assembly [G] into
each slotted plate located on the Side Bars [A & B] (six total) using
the highest available slot with the knob pointing down. Secure each
Double Bolt Assembly using one (1) Ring Nut [H], one (1) 3/8” Split
Ring Washer [J] and one (1) 3/8” Washer [K] on each threaded post.

Moving back and forth between the plastic knob located on the Double
Bolt Assembly [G] and the Ring Nut [H], evenly tighten both points
until the bumper at the end of the knob comes in tight contact with the
pickup bed sill overhang AND the Ring Nut is fully tightened against
the slotted plates. [Fg. 9 & 10]
NOTE: The plate on the Double Bolt Assembly [G] is offset with the
short end of the plate facing up and the long end of the plate
facing down. [Fg. 11]
NOTE: The Double Bolt Assembly [G] provides both vertical
and horizontal pressure to fully secure the carrier to the
truck bed. If the Double Bolt Assembly is not fully secured
or seems loose in either direction (horizontal/vertical) further
adjustment/tightening is needed.
STEP 6: SpinWing Assembly
Slide the Spin Ring [M] onto the Stem [L].
Choose one of the three available ‘Sockets’
on either the Cross Bar [C] or the one of the
Side Bars [A & B]. Slide the Stem [L] into
the chosen Socket aligning the threading on
the Stem with the holes on the Socket. [Fg.
12]
NOTE: When using the Socket located in
the center of the Cross Bar [C], the Stem
[L] may be installed either perpendicular or
parallel to the Cross Bar. Stems installed into
the ‘Sockets’ located on the ends may only
be installed perpendicular. [Fg. 13]

Slide the round end of one (1) Rubber Strap [R] onto each Upper
Wheel Cradle [P] and Lower Cradle [Q]. [Fg. 17]
NOTE: Be sure to slide the Rubber Straps [R] all the way onto the
cradles so that it tightly rests over the plastic coating of the Wheel
Cradle [P & Q].
Using one (1) 1/2” Washer [O], thread the Spin Pin [N] through the Stem
[L] Socket and tighten until the Stem is fully secure. [Fg. 14]
NOTE: The Spin Pin [N] must always be inserted through the side of the
Socket where the bushing protrudes outwards. There are two (2) bushing
located on the center Socket on the Cross Bar [C].
Using one (1) Wing [S], slide both foam bumpers to the center of the Wing.
Turn the handles on each Cradle Housing [T] to loosen their grip.
Slide two (2) Cradle Housings [T] above the foam bumpers and two (2) Cradle
Housings below the foam bumpers.
NOTE: The Cylinders located on each Cradle Housing [T] MUST rest along the
same sides as the connection hole located at the bottom of the Wing [S]. [Fg. 15]
NOTE: Position the Cylinders located on each Cradle Housing [T] so that they
alternate direction as shown.
Re-tighten each Cradle Housing [T] handle to secure in place on the Wing [S].

Insert two (2) Upper Wheel Cradles [P] with Rubber Straps [R] facing
in opposite directions into the ‘Cylinders’ located on the two (2) Cradle
Housing [T] installed above the foam bumpers on each Wing [S] as
shown. [Fg. 18]
Secure each Upper Wheel Cradle [P] with a Retainer Clip [U].
Insert two (2) Lower Wheel Cradles [Q] with Rubber Straps [R] facing
in opposite directions into the ‘Cylinders’ located on the two (2) Cradle
Housing [T] installed below the foam bumpers on each Wing [T].
Secure each Lower Wheel Cradle [Q] with a Retainer Clip [U]. [Fg. 19]
Slide both Wings [D] onto the Stem [L]
aligning the holes at the bottom of the Wing
with holes on the Stem.
Thread one (1) Ring Pin [V] into the holes
located on each Wing [S] securing the
Wings to the Stem [L]. [Fg. 20 & 21]
NOTE: The Ring Pin [V] MUST always be
threaded through the hole in the Wing [S]
from above/inside the Stem [L] as shown.

Using the 72in Cable (with Large Loop) [X], slide the small (SM) loop
through one Ring Pin [V] that secures the Wing to the Stem [L].
Slide the small loop through the large (LG) loop on the 72in Cable [X]
to create a closed loop.
Continue using the small loop end of the 72in Cable [X] to secure the
carrier by sliding the small loop end through the second Ring Pin [V]
and then nish by securing the small loop over the Spin Pin [N] post
that is threaded through the Stem [L]. [Fg. 25]
NOTE: The 72in Cable [X] is designed to lock bicycles to the carrier.
When no bicycles are mounted (like the example currently shown in
Fg. 21) it is recommended to wrap excess slack on the cable around
the Stem [L] before sliding the small loop end over the Spin Pin [N].
Install the included Lock [Y] over the Spin Pin [N] locking both Cables [W]
& X] onto the Spin Pin. [Fg. 26]
STEP 13: Lock Rack to the Vehicle with 60” Cable
STEP 14: Lock Wings to the Rack with 72” Cable
STEP 15: Apply Lock
NOTE: This option is only available
when there is SpinWing(s) located in
one (or both if you have one or more
additional SpinWing accessories [not
included]) of the ‘Sockets’ located on the
Side Bars [A and/or B].
Using one 36in Cable (with Ball Stop)
[W], insert the small loop end through the back
of an available Adjustment Plate slot that is
located closest to the Shoulder Brackets [D] on
a Side Bar [A or B] with an installed SpinWing
and pull through until the Ball Stop at the end
of the 36in Cable stops in place. [Fg. 22 & 23]
Thread the 36in Cable [W] through each Ring
Nut [H] along the Side Bar [A and/or B]. [Fg.
22 & 24]
Slide the small loop end(s) over the Spin Pin [N] post that is threaded through the Stem [L].

Secure by tensioning
each Rubber Strap [R]
over the top of each tire
and engaging a strap hole
over the end of the Upper
Wheel Cradle [P] using
the tightest hole available.

Operation: Bicycle Mounting
Hang bicycles by the
tires on the Upper Wheel
Cradles [P] with the chain
rings to the outside. [Fg.
27 & 28]
Adjust the Foam Bumpers
located on the Wings [S]
to protect the frame of the
bicycle.
Slide the Lower Wheel Cradle [Q] to
meet the bottom/side of the bicycle tire.
Secure the Lower Wheel Cradle [Q]
using the same technique as the Upper
Wheel Cradles. [Fg. 31 & 32]
TIP: Pull the Rubber Straps [P] to
the outside edge of the Lower Cradle
[Q] to position bicycles wheels so the
frame of the bicycle is pulled away
from the Wings [S] for wheel touch only
performance. [Fg. 32]

IMPORTANT: For two bicycles, position
the bicycles facing in opposite directions
(front-to-back/back-to-front) with the
chain ring to the outside.

Locking Bicycles
Adjusting Position of Bicycles
SpinWing Rotation
Unlock the Spin Pin [N] and remove the 72in
Cable [X] from the Spin Pin.
Weave the 72in Cable [X] through the frame of
the bicycle.
Re-secure the 72in Cable [X] back onto the Spin
Pin [N] and re-lock the assembly. [Fg. 33]
To accommodate varying bike sizes, slide the
cradle along the wings and re-tighten. [Fg. 34]
TIP: Lower Wheel Cradles [Q] can be easily
reversed while the bicycle hangs from the Upper
Wheel Cradles [P] to the opposite side of the their
housing for quick adjustability.
When loading and removing bikes, the SpinWing may be rotated 180°for quick access to both bicycles.
To rotate the SpinWing, unlock the Lock [Y] located on the Spin Pin [N] and removed both Cable ends [W & X]. Remove
the Spin Pin.
Rotate the Wings 180° and then re-secure the Spin Pin [N], Cables [W & X] and Lock [Y].
Make sure the Spin Pin [N] is properly tightened
and locked before transit. Make sure the bikes are
securely attached to the rack before driving.
The maximum load weight is 70 lbs or 35 lbs per
bicycle. DO NOT OVERLOAD.

Always secure each bicycle with all four connections points (two Upper Wheel Cradles & two Lower Cradles).
Do not operate the vehicle unless all connection points are tight and secured. Failure to follow bicycle mounting
procedure may result in damage to carrier, damage to property, bodily injury or death.
Always be sure the carrier and the mounted bicycles are not in contact with the cab of truck.
Always check and conrm all truck mounting points are tight and fully secured before each transit. Failure to follow
proper installation and equipment checks before transit may result in damage to carrier, damage to property, bodily
injury or death.
