2.2Usage&Areasofuse
Theroomtemperaturecontrollerhasitsareasofuseatthecontrollinginhomeinstallationsandin
theobjectrange.
Alotofdifferentcontrolscanberealizedbytheroomtemperaturecontroller.Therearethree
integratedcontrollers,whichcanbeadjustedtothepresentsystem.Thethreecontrollerscan
controlaswellheatingsystemsascoolingsystems.Therearesettingoptionsforupto4different
operatingmodes.Additionallevels,blockingfunctions,settingsofexternalsensorsandguidingcan
alsobeadjusted.
AnexceptionistheSCN‐TS1UP.01.TheSCN‐TS1UP.01isonlyasensorformeasuringthetemperature.
Therearenointegratedtemperaturecontrollersatthisdevice.Thetemperaturesensorhasitsareas
ofuseatthemeasuringoftemperaturesforothercontrollers.

Alarm/Messages
Alarmsandmessagescanbeadjustedatthismenu.Thisalarmsandmessagesreportwhen
thetemperaturefallsbelowanadjustedvalueorexceedanadjustedvalue.
Controllergeneral
Atthismenu,thedesiredfunction(heating,coolingorheating&cooling)canbeassigned
andgeneralsettings,likesetpoints,canbeadjusted.
Controllersettings
Thismenuappearsassoonasthecontrollerhasgotafunctionassigned.Integrated
controllerscanbechosenatthismenuandthechosencontrollercanbeparameterized
further.
IfyouchoosetheSCN‐TS1UP.01asdeviceatthesetupgeneral,onlythemenussetupgeneral,
temperaturemeasurementandalarm/messageswillbeshown.

“disable”,novaluewillbesentatall.
Sendactualtemperaturecyclically
Youcanactivatethisfunctionbychoosingatime.Now,theroomtemperaturecontroller
sendsthecurrenttemperatureperiodicallyaftertheadjustedtime.Thisfunctionis
independentfromthefunction“Sendactualvalueafterchangeof”.Sothetemperature
controllerwillsenditscurrentvaluealsoifthereisnochangeofit.
Internalsensorcorrectionvalue(value*0,1K)
Youcancorrectthemeasuredtemperaturevaluebythissetting.Bychoosinganegative
valueforthisparameter,themeasuredvaluewillbeloweredandbychoosingapositive
value,themeasuredvaluewillbelifted.Thevalueismultipliedby0,1K,sothecurrentvalue
canbeloweredorliftedupto5K.Thissettingisuseful,whenthesensorwasbuiltatan
unfavorablelocation,e.g.becomingdraftornexttoawindow.Whenthisfunctionis
activated,thetemperaturecontrollerwillalsosendthecorrectedvalues.

Therearetwoparameterizeablealarms,whenthealarmfunctionwasactivated.The
frostalarmisforthenotificationofthelowertemperaturesandtheheatalarmforthe
notificationoftheuppertemperatures.Bothalarmshaveaseparatecommunicationobject
withthesizeof1Bit.

Theoperatingmodecomfortisthereferencemodeofthecontroller.Thetemperaturereductionat
theoperatingmodesnightandstandbyrefertothesetpointofthecomfortmode.Whenaroomis
used,theoperatingmodecomfortshouldbeactivated.Theconfiguredsetpoint,the“basiccomfort
setpoint,isvalidfortheheatingprocessifthecontrollerwassetasheating&cooling(describedat

Theoperatingmodenightshallcauseasignificantdecrementofthetemperature,forexampleat
nightorattheweekend.Thereductioncanbeprogrammedfreelyandreferstothebasiccomfort
setpoint.Ifyouhaveprogrammedareductionof5Kandabasiccomfortsetpointof21°C,the
setpointforthenightmodewillbe16°C.

Whennobodyisintheroom,theoperatingmodestandbyisused.Thisoperatingmodeshallcausea
lowreductionofthetemperature.Sotheroomcanbeheatedupfastagain.
Thevalueforthereductioncanbeprogrammedfreelyandreferstobasiccomfortsetpoint.Ifyou
haveadjustedareductionof2Kandabasiccomfortsetpointof21°C,thesetpointfortheoperating
modestandbywillbe19°C.
Thestandbymodecannotbeactivatedbyacertaincommunicationobject.Itgetsactivated,whenall
operatingmodesareswitchedoff.
4.4.2.4OperatingmodeFrost/Heatprotection
Theoperatingmodefrostprotectiongetsactivated,whenthecontrollertypewassetasheating.The
heatprotectiongetsactivated,whenthecontrollertypewassetascooling.Whenthecontrollertype
issettoheatingandcooling,thecombinedoperatingmodefrost‐/heatprotectionisactivated.
Thisoperatingmodecausesanautomaticallyswitchonofheatingorcooling,whenaparameterized
isexceededorthetemperaturefallsbelowaparameterizedtemperature.Atthisoperatingmode,
thetemperatureissetasabsolutevalue.Youshouldactivatethisfunctionifyouarelongerabsent
andthetemperaturemustnotfallbelowaspecificvalueorexceedaspecificvalue.
