instrument is damaged without following the manual during use, the
manufacturer refuses to bear all consequences.
Warning: If any consequence caused by incorrect use of the
instrument or not following the instruction of operation manual, the
company will not bear any safety problem of the use of the instrument.

Warning: The power switch in the right lower part must be
accessible without obstacles at any time, so as to ensure the power can

authorized personnel. It’s recommended by MRC to use original spare
parts. The quality warranty will become invalid if spare parts from other
sources are used.

instrument shall be conducted by MRC authorized personnel.
Attention: Please read this manual carefully for the safe and
smooth operation of the experiment! Laboratory personnel who have not
used similar instruments should attend basic training.
Attention: This instrument is designed and tested in accordance
with European Union Standard (CE). In order to secure continuous
conformance of the standard, this instrument can only be connected to
equipment fulfilling CE requirements.
Attention: Please keep this manual properly and hand it over
when the instrument operator changes. The company reserves the right
to upgrade the product. If the contents of this manual are changed
without prior notice.
Please make sure to close water, electricity and gas switch of the
instrument after laboratory! (Please operation according to actual

I. Overview
1.1 Overview
First of all, thank you for choosing MDW-ECO Microwave Digestion/
Extraction System. We appreciate your trust and will try our best to serve
you!
Microwave digestion is a kind of sample pretreatment technology raised
in the middle of 1980s, it is now widely used in the analysis of heavy
metal elements in food, environmental samples, human or animal
samples, agricultural products, herb samples, textiles, alloy, cosmetics
and mineral samples due to its advantages of quick heating speed, even
heating, low margin, high efficiency and energy saving.
The MDW-ECO microwave digestion instrument developed and
produced by our company adopts industrial magnetron and non-pulse
frequency conversion control technology to realize rapid and complete
digestion of inorganic or organic samples under high temperature and
high pressure. in addition, various safety measures guarantee safe and
stable operation of the instrument.

1.2 Instrument operation conditions
a、The instrument shall be away from heating source to prevent hot gas
and vapor from entering the instrument to cause failure. Besides, it shall
also be away from water source to avoid electricity leakage danger
caused by splashed water;
b、The instrument shall be placed in a solid and stable table, the
experimental station shall be able to hold at least 140 kg without
vibration; the left, right and top part of the instrument shall not have any
covers but with at least 50cm of clearance, the rear wall shall leave at
least 30cm of clearance to keep good ventilation;

c、Please keep the instrument away from strong magnetic materials or
electrical appliances with magnetism, because the external magnetic
field will interfere with the uniform distribution of magnetic field in the
furnace and reduce the heating efficiency;
d、The current shall be AC 220±10% V frequency (50/60) Hz,
electricians shall confirm the instrument has true and good grounding,
the grounding resistance shall be less than 4 ohm, poor grounding may
damage machine. It’s suggested to equip with independent stable power
supply over 3000W, the voltage fluctuation shall not exceed 10V;
e、Please place the instrument close to the fume hood or other
ventilation equipment, but not in the fume hood, so as to prevent the
equipment from being damaged by acid mist;
f、The required operation temperature is 0℃～40℃, humidity is ＜80%.
The best operation temperature is 20℃～25℃and the humidity is 40～
60%;
g、Please install the exhaust duct before operation.
Special warning
a、Please read the manual carefully to secure safe and smooth
operation of the experiment. Experiment personnel who have not
operated similar instruments shall attend basic training;
b、It’s prohibited to use perchloric acid to digest samples;
c、Please carefully observe temperature change when digesting
samples with concentrated sulfuric acid;
d、It’s prohibited to digest inflammable and explosive dangerous goods
(see matters for attention for details);
e、It’s prohibited to conduct no-load heating of the instrument;
f、Please keep the manual properly. When operators of the instrument
change, please hand over the manual together;
g、The company retains the right to upgrade the product. It will not be
separately notified if there’s any change of the manual.

II. Appearance and working principle of instrument
2.1 Appearance of instrument

Function of each component:
Touch screen: Display menu, method parameters and instrument status,
and touch operation is available;
Door opening button: Open and close safety door;
Safety door: Ensure the sealing between the door and the microwave
reaction chamber to prevent microwave leakage;
Observation window: Observe the situation in the chamber when the
safety door is closed;
Power supply switch: Turn on and turn off power supply of the instrument
Power supply socket: Connect to standard power supply wire;
USB, network port: Upgrade system and connect to Internet.

Function of each component:
Solvent detection socket: Externally connect to organic solvent detection
module;
Antenna: Connect to wireless network;
Chamber air outlet: Connect to standard exhaust duct;
Chamber air inlet: The main air inlet of the chamber shall not be covered;
Cooling hole: Cooling hole of the instrument, shall not be covered here.
2.2 Working principle
Place samples and digestion acid in sealed digestion vessel, then place
the digestion vessel in the microwave chamber, realize the control of
magnetron by controlling the output of the frequency conversion board,
and make the magnetron generate microwave. Under the action of
microwave field, the polar molecules in the sample and the digestion acid
rotate rapidly, and the friction between the molecules generates heat,
thus realizing the temperature rise of the sample and digestion acid. The
digestion vessel is airtight, which generates high temperature and high
pressure to reach digestion condition and break the initial form of
samples, make the elements to be measured have high valence state
precipitation (ionization), which is sample dissolution.

IV. Installation and commissioning
4.1 Unpacking inspection
After unpacking the instrument, please check the whole machine and
accessories specified with the attached packing list to see whether
there’s any damage, if so, please contact with the manufacturer in time.
(Please keep the damaged parts.)
a、Unpack the transportation box carefully.
Attention: please keep the packaging box and packaging foam of
the instrument to facilitate following transportation.
b、The instrument shall be taken out by at least two people and put on
the experiment station. Check the instrument and accessories with the
packing list, if any wrong instrument or accessories, incomplete
accessories or abnormal accessories found, please contact with the
dealer or manufacturer.
Attention: when carrying the machine, the stress point should not
be placed on the furnace door, but on the four feet at the bottom.
4.2 Installation conditions
a、The instrument shall be away from heating source to prevent hot gas
and vapor from entering the instrument to cause failure. Besides, it shall
also be away from water source to avoid electricity leakage danger
caused by splashed water.
b、The instrument shall be placed in a solid and stable table, the
experimental station shall be able to hold at least 140 kg without
vibration; the left, right and top part of the instrument shall not have any

e、Please place the instrument close to the fume hood or other
ventilation equipment, but not in the fume hood, so as to prevent the
equipment from being damaged by acid mist
4.3 Installation steps
a、Place the instrument stably on the experiment station, the back side
of the instrument shall be 20cm away from the wall. The distance
between power supply socket and the machine shall be less than one
meter. It’s suggested to equip with air switch, electricity switch and
reliable ground wire.
b、Insert the vent pipe into the air outlet at the rear of the instrument,
and place the other end in the fume hood.

V. Use and operation
5.1 Function introduction
5.1.1 Operation
Operation can be conducted after pre-experiment preparation, the
operation steps are: click to select method, click to heat. During
heating, click to pause heating and click to stop heating. Please
be noted that after pause heating, if continue to heat, the time of method
will continue to time from the time before pause; after stop heating, if
continue to heat, the time of method will time from the start.
5.1.2 Edit
Edit the application method according to the sample and national
standard regulations, it’s available to add methods in user base, also
available to add methods in new method library. When creating new
methods, it’s available to change on the existing method, the specific
operation steps are: slide the selected method to the left, click to
change name and method parameters, then click to complete; also
available to create a new method directly, when creating methods, all
parameters cannot be null in the method, click after editing.
Parameter instruction:
Temperature: Expected temperature to be reached 0-300℃;
Pressure: Upper limitation value of pressure cannot be exceeded in the
whole operation process 0-4.5MPa;
Climbing time: the expected time when the current temperature rises to
the set temperature 0-60min;
Holding time: the expected time to maintain the set temperature 0-60min.
5.1.3 Check historical data
It’s available to check the data of experiment did before, the specific
operation is: select [Cloud service] in function selection interface, select

[Private cloud], then select [Data] on the right, select the experiment to
be checked in [Local] section, click to finish.
5.1.4 Language selection
Chinese and English can be switched in [Language setting] of [General
setting].
5.1.5 Time setting
Current time can be changed in [Time setting] of [General setting]. This
function can also be realized by clicking when the Internet is
connected.
5.1.6 Backlight adjustment
Screen brightness can be set in [Brightness setting] of [General setting].
5.1.7 WIFI setting
WIFI connected to the display screen can be set in [WIFI setting] of
[General setting].
5.1.8 IP setting
When the network is connected through the network cable, it’s
necessary to turn on [Enable SHCP] function in [IP setting] of [General
setting]
5.1.9 User management
In [User management] of [General setting], user can be created or
deleted. The three users of the instrument cannot be deleted. When
creating/deleting users, high level users can create/delete low level
users, but cannot create/delete users at the same or higher level.
Authority level description: administrator>supervisor>user.

5.2 Interface operation
5.2.1 Function selection

As shown in Figure 5.2.1, it’s available to select corresponding function
such as operation, edit and cloud service as required in this interface. It’s
also available to click the character icon on the upper right corner to
select: personal center, system setting, help and other functions.

The operation homepage is divided into three functions, namely;
digestion, extraction and synthesis. Users may select as required.
5.2.3 Digestion

As shown in Figure 5.2.3, in digestion interface, click on the upper
right corner to select required method. If there’s no required method, it’s
necessary to edit separately as required, just click as shown in
Figure 5.4. Please be noted that some methods are provided in the
system base for users which can be selected by users themselves as
required.

After the method is selected, click ,then the system will operate
following the selected method, click to stop, click that the rotor
will start rotating, click it again and the rotor will stop rotating. Please be
noted that will lose effect during operation and its function will
recover after operation.

interface, as shown in Figure 5.2.5. (See next page)

If the instrument is equipped with infrared temperature measurement
method, continue to slide to the left to enter whole vessel temperature
interface, as shown in Figure 5.2.6 and Figure 5.2.7.Click and to
realize switch between bar chart and list mode of whole vessel
temperature.

5.2.4 Edit
Edit interface is shown in Figure 5.2.8, click to create new method
library/method. Slide the selected method library/method to the left to
delete method library/method, as shown in Figure 5.2.9 and Figure
5.2.10. Please be noted that user base cannot be deleted.

Interpretation of three control types
a、Standard control
The instrument takes the temperature as the control condition and sets
the target temperature and holding time of each stage of gradient
heating. When the temperature reaches the set value, it starts to holding
the temperature.
b、Climbing control
The instrument takes the temperature or the pressure as the control
condition and sets the target temperature and pressure preservation
upper limit, as well as climbing and holding time of temperature of each
stage of gradient heating. When the temperature reaches the set value,
it starts to holding the temperature.
c、Power control
The instrument takes the temperature as the control condition and sets
the target temperature and holding time of each stage of gradient
heating. The instrument will be heated at certain power, when the
temperature reaches the set value, it starts to holding the temperature.
5.2.5 Personal center
As show in Figure 5.2.12, in personal center, password of the current
user can be changed, and the subject and image can be selected. (See

5.2.6 General setting
As shown in Figure 5.2.13, time, language, brightness IP and WIFI can
be set in general setting interface, it’s available to select whether to
enable user authority. Please be noted that when user authority is
enabled, it will be required to log in with user name and password when
open the instrument every time.
