1General
1.1 Preface
Thanks for choosing ‘REAC-NxxLE-3 series speed-regulation glass reactor’. This operation
manual introduced installation, operation, maintenance of glass reactors. Before using the
instrument, please read this manual carefully
1.2 Safety
This chapter describes the safety rules during installation and operation of ‘REAC-NxxLE-3
series speed-regulation glass reactors’. Users must understand all warning signs mentioned
in the manual and strictly abide by the operation procedures to ensure the security of the
. equipment and personal, avoiding any accident
1.2.1 User’s Qualification
The glass reactor must be operated by a person who has practical experiences and who can
master detailed requirements in this manual. Otherwise, it must be used under the guidance
of a person who has related skills.
1.2.2 Intended Use
This device can be applied for the following purposes:
a) The process which needs high temperature, low temperature conditions.
b) The process which needs stirring under reduced pressure.
c) Dispersion process.
d) Distillation (reflux), concentration.
1.2.3 Improper Use
The operations which are not done according to the related stipulation in this manual are
regarded as improper use. Any damage caused by improper use shall be responsible by the
users themselves.
Operations under the following conditions are prohibited:
a) Used in explosive gas environment or explosive dust environment.

b) Used in the places where the power supply is not in conformity with the
requirements.
c) Used in high magnetic fields or corrosive environment.
d) Used to deal with Hydrofluoric acid solution.
e) Used to deal with hard, brittle materials (such as stones, soil samples, etc.), which
may cause damage to the glass vessel. The volume of the sample added to the
glass vessel exceeds the specified limit.

1.2.5 Hazards Related to the Instrument
Please pay attention to the following safety instructions:
Danger
Prohibited to use it in explosive gas environment or explosive dust
environment.
Do not put explosive reactants in the glass vessel.
Do not use hydrofluoric acid and high concentration alkaline solution.
Do not pass steam as heat source into the reactor jacket.
Warning
Make sure the power supply is in conformity with the requirements stated on
the name plate.
Equipotential connection has been done; do not remove inner earthing
connection wire.

Do not use broken glass parts.
Prohibited
Do not use it outdoor. Exposed in rain or get wet with splashed water will
cause electric shock by touching the shell.

Do not touch the glass vessel surface or circulation hoses directly to avoid
high temperature injury.
Note
If there’s any abnormal situation when using it, please disconnect the power
supply immediately for troubleshooting or contact professional maintenance
personnel.
Beware of damaged or broken glass parts to avoid personal injury.
The maximum allowable temperature deviation between inside and outside of
the glass vessel is 80℃.
Please be careful when moving the glass parts to avoid scratching the surface

and impacting the inside and outside of the glass.
The circulating liquid pressure in the jacket should not exceed 0.03MPa,
otherwise the glass vessel will be damaged.
Ensure that the circulating fluid in the pipeline flows smoothly, and the
pressure of circulating liquid should not exceed 0.03Mpa.
The pressure of the glass vessel may rise and may cause the glass vessel
rupture if the liquid in the jacket expands due to heat.
The allowable applicable pressure range of the glass vessel is ‘absolute
vacuum to normal pressure’. During the reaction of the material, if positive
pressure is generated, the glass vessel may be broken.
The working temperature range of this glass reactor is -80 to +200℃, it may
affect its sealing parts or break the glass if beyond this range.
The discharge valve and its interface connected with the glass vessel should be
cleaned in time after use to avoid affecting its sealing effect.
When rotate the glass vessel, beware of the leakage of circulating fluid in the
jacket.
When rotate the glass vessel, beware of the circulation pipeline hitting the
frame.
A thermal insulation jacket can prevent the glass vessel from rupturing and
causing personal injury effectively.
It could generate static electricity when adding material into the vessel through
feeding port.

Please use the reactor in proper environment. Otherwise, its normal function
and lifetime can be affected.
Keep good ventilation around the equipment.
Do not leave the device unattended.
1.2.6 Other Dangers
The sample in the vessel or some solvents near it may react and combine
peroxides, high concentrations flammable solvents, etc.
If there is acid, alkali steam and other corrosive materials around the
equipment, it will damage the equipment insulation; affect component
performance and service life.
Beware of the risk of explosion when dealing with hazardous materials or
samples of unknown combination.

1.2.7 Safety Measures
Please wear personal protective equipment when operating this instrument,
such as protective glasses, protective clothing and gloves.
Brief Introduction of the Instrument 1.3
REAC-NxxLE-3 Series Lifting type speed-regulation glass reactors are mainly used for
synthetic reaction, distillation and concentration of different types of materials. It can be
divided into three types according to structure: single-wall, double-wall and triple-wall
The reactor can be vaccumized to a negative pressure state according to some experimental
requirements. A constant pressure funnel or an adjusting valve on the feeding bottle allows
you to feed material into the vessel at a uniform and controlled speed. A condenser helps to
recover some materials which are distillated during reaction process.
Single-wall glass reactor has no jacket.
Double-wall glass reactor has two layers of glass wall: inner wall and outer wall. So there is
a jacket between inner wall and outer wall. Circulating liquid can be filled into the jacket to
heat or cool materials inside the reactor.
Triple-wall glass reactor has two jackets, the inner jacket is for circulating liquid, and the
outer jacket can be pumped to vacuum condition for thermal insulation purpose.

2Unpacking and Installation
2.1 Unpacking and Installation
1) After unpacking the package, please find the operation manual and read it carefully;
inspect all parts according to the packing list.
2) Move out the frame carefully; put it on the floor steady, and lock the 4 swivel casters.
3) Before installation, please clean the glass parts carefully to make sure it will meet the
test requirements.
Note: Glassware is fragile; please handle with care when unpacking.
2.2 Installation
For REAC-NxxLE-3 Series glass reactors, the glass vessel, lid and frame are pre-assembled
. together. Stirring shaft kit need to be assembled
2.2.1 Installation of Stirring Paddle
Adjust the glass vessel to appropriate height by hand wheel(20), put the stirring paddle(24)
into the vessel, lift up the vessel by rotating the hand wheel(20) until the upper part of the
stirring paddle going through the right port on the reactor lid.
2.2.2 Installation of stirrer shaft
Install the stirrer shaft kit(25) in sequence according to figure 2.2.2.
2.2.3 Installation of motor kit
Connect the fixed frame(32), motor support(16) and motor kit(34) together according to
figure 2.2.3.
Connect the stirring paddle(24) and coupling(33). Tighten the nut(26) to fix the stirring
paddle.
2.2.4 Installation of condenser nozzle
Install the condenser nozzle according to figure 2.2.4.
2.2.5 Installation of condensing dispenser and condenser
As shown in Figure 2.2.5, the tray (38) is mounted on the pole (1), and the condensing

dispenser (17) is placed on the tray (38). Connect the condensing dispenser (17) to the lid (8),
adjust the position of the tray (38), use the flange (5) to connect the condensing dispenser
(17) and lid (8); use the flange (5) to connect Condenser (15) and condensate dispenser (17),
surround the rubber bracket (2) around the upper center of the condenser (15) and then lock
it.

2.2.6 Installation of Temperature Sensor
The temperature sensor and the sensor base have been assembled together already, just put it
into the right port on the reactor lid.
2.2.7 Installation of Solid Material Charging Port Sealing Kit
Please install the solid charging port sealing kit according to figure 2.2.7.

2.2.8 Installation of Constant-pressure Funnel and Vacuum Gauge
Please install the constant-pressure funnel and vacuum gauge according to figure 2.2.8.

2.2.9 Installation of Discharge Valve
Note: Make sure the discharge valve(13) is opening before installation, in case of damage to the vessel
body.
Please refer to Figure 2.2.10.
Please see figure 2.2.9, install the flange(5) and retaining ring(43) on the flange port of the
glass vessel(11) and discharge valve(13), put the sealing ring(44) on the flange port of
discharge valve(13), keep them in right position and then tighten the butterfly nut.

2.2.10 Installation of Operation Box and Motor Controller
Fix the Operation box (19) and Motor Controller(23) on the frame(21), please see chapter
1.5.
2.2.11 Installation of Circulating hose
There are two ports on the glass vessel connected to the jacket for circulation, the lower one is
inlet, and the upper one is outlet. Please install the circulation hoses according to Figure 2.2.12.

2.3 How to connect the glass reactor with vacuum pump and temperature control
unit
Connect the glass reactor with Vacuum Pump and the Dynamic Temperature Control System
properly, please refer to Figure 2.3. Make sure every joint is in good sealing without any
leakage.
Note: There are two ports on the vacuum gauge. Connect one of the ports to the vacuum port of the
condenser, and connect the other one to the vacuum pump.

3Operation
3.1 Caution
Table 3.1 Caution
Please read this manual carefully before using the reactor.
Please place the reactor steadily on the floor, then lock the swivel casters.
The best ambient temperature for this device is 5—35℃. It might cause any failure to the
machine if it works for a long time beyond this temperature range.
Avoid strong vibration, otherwise it may cause damage to the glass parts.
Please connect the power supply according to the requirements on the name plate.
Do not press the power cord. When there is a heavy object on the power line or the power line
goes through any objects, it may cause damage to the power cord and lead to electric shock or
fire.
Please disconnect the power supply and pull out the plug out of the socket when the machine
will not be used for a long time, to avoid dust accumulation on the power line, which might lead
to a fire caused by partial overheating of the power line.
Pull the plug from the socket:
Hold the plug and pull the plug backwards. Do not pull it hard.
Please disconnect the power supply and the plug when moving it. Do not move it when
connected to power, which might cause electric shock or lead to a fire.
Please clean the glass parts before installation or put the reactor into use.
When connect the glass parts, please apply some vacuum grease on the interface to ensure its
sealing effect.
When install glass parts, please apply moderate force to prevent the glass from breaking.
Glass is fragile, beware of impact.
Do not use the glass reactor with strong alkaline solutions.
Installation of glass vessel with a volume not less than 20L, it should be done under the
guidance of professionals.
When the reactor is used with temperature control equipment, the viscosity of the circulating
liquid should be ≤50cp.
When the reactor is used with a temperature control equipment, the circulation pump should be
turned on first, and then the temperature control equipment should be turned on when the liquid
circulation pipeline is unobstructed.
Do not heat it by using vapors.
If there is any abnormal situation during operation, please disconnect the power supply
immediately, pull out the plug and ask professionals for technical support or contact the

manufacturer.
Maximum permissible temperature difference between reaction vessel and the jacket is not
more than 80℃(ΔT<= 80℃).
Please do not move the reactor when it is working.
Beware of scaling! Please wear glasses when dealing with the sample.
Do not move it when the temperature of the vessel >=80℃!
Do not refit this device.
Do not use it outdoor. Exposed in rain or got wet with splashed water on the surface may cause
personnel injury.
3.2 Operation
1) Check if the power supply is in conformity with the required power on the label.
2) Turn on the power switch, the temperature display window displays the current
temperature, the speed display window flashes to display the current speed, press the
rotary button, the display window stops flashing, use the speed control knob to
select the appropriate speed, the speed should be adjusted from slow to fast slowly.
3) The flow of materials and the power of the motor speed may cause resonance at a
certain point, please change the speed of the motor to avoid resonance.
4) If the sealing performance has deteriorated, please check the rotary sealing device in
the mixer sleeve.
5) After the reaction is completed, the temperature control unit should be turned off
when the temperature of the material in the vessel is close to room temperature.
Note:
After shutting down the temperature control unit, please do not close the valves in the
middle of the circulation hoses, keep all hoses clear. Otherwise, when the temperature
in the jacket or in the vessel changes dramatically, it may cause any crack or broken to
the reactor body.
6) Shut down the Vacuum Pump.
7) Adjust stirring speed to minimum value to stop stirring.
8) Power off.

9) Discharge the material from the draining port (14). After emptying the material,
please disassemble the draining valve and clean the glass part and the PTFE stopper.
10) Reinstall the draining valve.
Notice:
a) When discharging the materials, slowly turn the black stopper at the bottom of the discharge valve
counterclockwise.
b) After cleaning the glass parts, wipe the liquid on the surface with a soft clean cloth to avoid
contamination.
4Maintenance and Management
To make sure the equipment running normally and extending its service life, users should do
daily maintenance and management. Before maintenance, please disconnect the power
supply, preparing tools, materials according to the specific requirements mentioned in this
manual. Otherwise, it will cause electric shock or cause damage to the reactor.
4.1 Management
Please follow the advices below to make sure the reactor will work normally:
1) Check the ambient temperature and humidity regularly to ensure the machine will be
running in the proper environment.
2) Avoid severe vibration when moving it.
3) Please keep the reactor from impact which might cause glass broken. Inspect the
circulation hoses, if found any aged or damaged parts, please replace them immediately
refer to the original specifications.
4.2 Cleaning
1) Before cleaning the reactor, disconnect the power cord. Otherwise, it may cause
electric shock or fire hazard.
2) Use soft cloth to clean the surface.
3) Please follow the instructions of the laboratory when cleaning the glassware.
4) Avoid any leakage of dangerous substances on the reactor surface or flowing into the
reactor vessel.
