The MSIUS60GWireless11g Turbo GUSBAdapter (hereafter
calledUS60G), compliantwithIEEE802.11g,isahigh-efficiency
wirelessadapter forwireless networkingathome, inoffice or in
publicplaces.Thedataratecanbe up to54Mbpsand auto-
negotiated to48, 36, 24,18, 12,9, 6Mbps(IEEE 802.11g), or 11,
5.5, 2,1Mbps(IEEE802.11b).
WithUS60G,you canroambetween conferenceroomand
office withoutbeing disconnectedtheLANcables;inaddition,
sharing files and printerscanbeeasytasks.
TheUS60GisavailabletoMicrosoft Windowsoperating sys-
tems(Windows Vista/XP/2000/ME/98SE/XP64-bit)andcanbe
integrated intonetworkingwitheither Ad-hoc mode (computer-
to-computer,without an Access Point) or Infrastructuremode
(computer-to-accesspoint,anAccess Pointisrequired).
*Experiencingthe highthroughouput oftheMSITurboGmode,
MSITurboGserieswirelessproductsarehighlyrecommended
asyourbestchoices.MSITurboGmodeissuggested tofunc-
tion withMSITurboGseries wirelessproductstooptimize
performance.The compatibilityofotherbrandsofwireless
productswithMSITurboGmodeisnot guaranteed.

Ad-hoc Mode: AnAd-hoc networkisalocal areanetworkorother
smallnetwork,especiallyonewithwirelessor temporaryplug-in
connections, inwhich someof thenetworkdevicesarepart of
the networkonlyforthe durationofacommunicationssession.
Usersinthenetworkcansharefiles,printtoasharedprinter,
and access theInternetwithasharedmodem.Inthiskind of
network, newdevicescanbequicklyadded; however,userscan
onlycommunicatewithother wirelessLAN computersthatarein
thiswireless LANworkgroup, and arewithinrange.

InfrastructureMode : Thedifferencebetween Infrastructurenet-
workand Ad-hoc networkisthattheformeroneincludes an
Access Point. InanInfrastructurenetwork, theAccessPointcan
manage the bandwidthtomaximizebandwidthutilization.Addi-
tionally,theAccessPointenables usersonawireless LAN to
accessanexistingwired network,allowingwirelessusersto
takeadvantageofthewirednetworksresources,such as Internet,
email, filetransfer, and printer sharing.Thescaleand rangeof
theInfrastructurenetworking arelargerandwiderthanthatof
theAd-hocnetworking.

Thischapterdescribes theprocedures ofinstallingthe
driverandutility.Followtheinstruction stepbystepto
finish theinstallation.UnderWindows 98SE/ME
environment,makesureyou have prepared the Win-
dows Setup CD athand beforeinstallingthedriver. Since
thesystemwill askyou toinsert the Setup CD tocopy
necessaryfilesduring the installation.
Please NOTE thatthe US60Gshouldbeinstalled into
yourcomputerbeforeinstalling thedriverand utility.
Then,the operatingsystemwilldetectanewdevice and
start toconfigurethe newdevice. Click Cancel hereto
start installation fromtheInstallShieldWizard.

Insert the SoftwareCDintoyourCD-ROMdriver,andthe
Setup programshalllaunch automatically.

Start atthetaskbarand select Run....Type E:\setup.

If yourMSIwireless LAN adaptersupportsSoftwareAP
function,youshallsee thisitemunderthe sub-menu,
which allowsyou touse MSIwireless adapteras avirtural
access point.
