To ensure proper operation, read this manual thoroughly before using this
product After reading, be sure to keep it where it will be read by all those who
use the product.
Precautions for Use: MH-28 BatterY- Charger
V' IMPORTANT: The Nikon MH - 28 battery charger c an be used to charge Nikon
EN - EL21 r echargeable lithium -i on batteries only. It can not be used with
other batteries .
·Charge indoors at ambient temperatures between 5and 35 oc (41 to 95 °F),
· The temperature of some parts of the device may become elevated while it is
plugged
in. Maintaining contact with the device for prolonged periods could
result in low-temperature burns,
·Remove the battery from the charger when charging
is complete.
·Unplug the charger from the power outlet when not in
use.
·Do not short the charger terminals. Failure to observe this precaution could
result in overheating and damage to the charger.
·Do not use with travel converters or adapters designed to convert from one
voltage
to another or with DC-to-AC inverters. Failure to observe this precau-
tion could damage the product or cause overheating or
fire,

Precautions for Use:
Nikon EN-EL21 Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries
• Before using the product for the first time, or before using the product follow-
ing
an extended period of disuse, charge the battery in the MH-28.
·Do
not use the battery at ambient temperatures below 0 oc (32 ° F) or above
40 oc (104 oF). Failure to observe this precaution could damage the battery or
impair i
ts performance.
·The battery wi ll not charge if its temperature is below 0 oc (32 o F) or above
60
oc (140 ° F). Capacity may be reduced and charging times may increase at
battery temperatures from 0 o
cto 10 oc (32 oF to 50 T) and from 45 octo 60 oc
(11 rF to 140 °F).
·The internal temperature of the battery may ri se while the battery is in use. At-
tempting to charge the battery while the internal temperature
is elevated will
impair battery performance, and the battery may not charge or may charge
only partially. Wait for the battery
to cool before charging.
• Do
not attempt to recharge a fully-charged battery. Failure to observe this
precaution will result
in reduced battery performance.
• Do not move the charger or touch the battery during charging. Failure to ob-
serve this precaution could in very rare instances result in the charger show-
ing that charging
is complete when the battery is only partially charged. Re-
move and reinsert the battery to begin charging again.
•
In the event of malfunction, stop use immediately and take the charger to a
Nikon-authorized service representative for inspection.
Charging Nikon EN-EL21 Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries
Attaching the Plug Adapter
Depending on the country or region of purchase, a plug adapter may be
supplied with the charger. Ifa plug adapter
is suppl ied, attach it as described
in Step 1, below.
1 Raise the wall plug (Figure 1-a-CD) and connect the plug adapter (Figure 1- a-
®; note that the shape of the adapter varies with the country or region of
purchase), making sure that the plug is fu ll y inserted. Attempting to forcibly
remove the plug adapter could damage
the product.
2 Place the battery in the battery bay (Figure 1-b)
3 Plug the charger into a power outlet (Figure 1-c) The CHARGE lamp wi ll
sta rt to f1ash slowly (Figure 4-a) Charging is complete when the CHARGE
lamp stops f1ashing (Figure 4-b).
4 When charging is complete, unplug the charger and remove the battery
(Figure
5).
