Making a call using predial
Follow this procedure to use the predial feature to make a call.
Step Action
1 Before you press a line ke y or lift the handset, use the dialpad to
enter the numbe
r.
The number is e nt ered into the termina l.
2 When you want to make the call, press Ok , or press the send key.
Th e number is dialed.
3 When the call is answered, begin speaki ng.
Editing a predialed number
Follow this procedure to edit a number held in the predial ed state.
Prerequisites
A number must be pr ed ialed.
Step Action
1 Perform one of th ese steps.
To delete numbers that appear to the left of the cursor, press
Bkspc.
To delete numbers that appear to the right of the cursor, press
De lete.
2 Use the dialpad to enter the new number.
Answering calls
Follow these proce dur es to an sw er calls. Incoming ca ll s cause the
te lephone to sound and the message indicator lamp to flash.
Answering a call
Follow this procedure to answer a ca ll.
Step Action
1 Perform one of these ac tions to an sw er a call:
Uft the handse
t.
To answer a call using the handsfreefeature, pressthe handsfree
ke y.
To answer a ca ll while wearing a headset, press the headset ke y.

Answ er ing a second can
Fo ll ow this procedure toanswer a call wh en you are engaged in a ca ll.
If another call comes in while the pri
ma ry line is engaged, the phone sounds
and a message indicator icon
on the display flashes. Wh il e the i nd icator is
flashing you have the opportunity to put the
fi rst call on hold and answ er
the second ca ll.
Step Action
1 Press the hold key to put the active call on hold.
2 Press the line key for the second call.
The ca ll is answered.
Ending a call
Fo ll ow this procedure to terminate an active cal l.
The Goodbye key is useful for dropping out of a conference ca ~ l or exiting
voice mai
l. See "IP Phone 1120E components" (page 11 ) for t he location of
the ke y.
Step Action
1 Perform one of these acti ons :
Return the handset to the cradl
e.
Press the goodbye ke y.
The call is ended.
While on an active call
Follow these procedures to put a call on hold, transfer a ca ll, use the mute
ke y, and use the con fe rence ca ll feature.
Using ca ll hold
The Ho ld feature allows you to suspend a call without terminating i t. Fo ll ow
this procedure to use the hold feature.
Step Ac tion
1 To put a ca ll on hold, press the hold ke y.
The cal l is suspen ded . On the displa y, an indicator fla sh es b es ide
the line on
whi ch the call is held.
2 Press the key besi de the flashing indicator in the di sp la y.

Transferring a ca ll
Follow this procedure to transfer a call to another extension.
Step Action
1 During an active call, pr ess the ke y to which the transfer feature
is assigned.
The ca ll is put on hold and a dial tone sounds. On the displa y, an
indicator
fl ash es beside the li ne on wh ich the ca ll is held.
2 Use the dialpad to enter the number to which to transfer the ca ll.
3 When that number ringsor is answered, press the transfer key again.
The ca ll is transfe rr ed .
4 If the call is not answered, press the line ke y to resume and
terminate the call.
Using conference call
Fo ll ow this procedure to engage in a conference call.
The Three Way Call (3WC) feature allows you to add three calls to a
conference. If six port conference is available, you can add a maxi
mu m of
six
ca lls to a conference. If six port confe re nce is availa bl e, 6WC appears
beside a fea
tu re key in the displa y.
Step Action
1 During a call, pr ess the key to which the conference call feature is
assigned, either 3WC or 6WC.
Th e ca ll is put on hold and a dial tone so unds. On the dis pl a y, an
indicator
fl as h es beside the li ne on wh ich the ca ll is held.
2 Dial the number of the person you want to add to the call.
At th is time, you can ta lk private ly to the pe r so n you are add i ng , to
announce the
co nfere nc e.
3 Press the con fe rence ke y again to merge the calls.
4 Repeat steps 2 and 3, to include a ma
xi mum ofsix ca ll s.
5 If y
ou make a mistake dialing, ora pa rty do es not want to be included
in the con
fe rence, press the extension key of the con fe rence ca ll
to reconnect to the con fe rence.
Using the mute feature
Muting preve nt s th e transmission ofsounds through the microphone. Fo ll ow
this pro
ced ure to use the mute feature.
Step Action
1 While on a call, press the mute ke y.
A red li ght is tu rned on to in dicate the mute feature is enabl ed .
2 To turn off the feature, press the mu te key again.
The li ght is turned off, a nd th e fe at ur e is disa bl ed.

Using call forward
Follow this procedure to forwa rd calls to another IP Phone wh en you are
away from yourdes
k.
Step Action
1 To activate call forward wi thout lifting the handset, press the ke y to
which the Fo rw a rd feature is assigned.
2 Use the dialpad to enter the extensi on to which y ou w an t to forward
your incoming calls.
3 Press the forwa rd ke y aga in.
An icon a pp ears in th e displa y, beside the forward key l ab el.
4 To turn off call fo rw ard, press th e forward key.
The feature is deact iv ated and the icon disappearsfrom th e display
Navigating the menu system
Follow thes e procedures to navigate and se lect items from the main menu.
Menu items can be selected with a shortcut
ke y. The shortcut ke y is th e
number on th edialpad th at corr es pond s to th e numb er of the me nu item.
Only items numbered 0 through 9 can be opened by a shortcut ke y.
Navigating the main menu
Fo llow this procedure to open th e main menu.

1 Press M
en u, or press the services ke y.
Th e main menu opens.
2 To select an item in a menu, perform one of these ac tion s:
Sel ect th e i tem , and pr ess Ok, or pr ess the se nd ke y.
Press the shor tcu t ke y.

Changing the def ault volume
Follow this procedure to change the default volume of the handset, the
h ea dset, or the handsfree sp ea ke r.
Step A ction
1 From the main me nu , select a nd open Audi o.
Th e Aud io me nu op e ns .
2 Navigate through the menu a nd select Defau lt Vo lumes.
A li st of transducers a pp ears.
3 Select the transdu ce r to change.
4 Press Ok, or press the send ke y.
The Defa ult Volumes me nu ope ns .
5 Perform one of these actions:
Us e the right navi ga tion ke y an d scro ll to increase the volume.
Use the left navigati on ke y an d scroll to decrease t he volume.
6 Press App ly to confirm the action.
The select ed volume is a pp li ed the next time t hat transducer is used.
Resetting a default volume
Fo llow this procedure to reset the default volume of the handset, the
headset, or the ha nd sf ree speaker.
Step A ctio n
1 From the main menu, select a nd open Au dio .
The Aud io me nu ope ns .
2 Na vigate through the menu and select Default Volumes.
3 Select th e transducer you want to reset to the default.
4 Press Ok , or the send ke y.
The Default Volumes menu opens.
5 Scroll through the menu and select Default.
6 Press App ly to confirm the ac ti on.
The default vo lum e is a pp li ed the next time the transducer is used.

Selecting a ring tone
Follow this procedure to select a ring tone.
You can listen to a ring tone before you select it, through the Play and Stop
options.
Prer
equisites
The system administrator must grant you permission to change your ring
tone.
Step
Action
1 From the main menu, select and open Audio .
The Aud io menu opens.
2 Scro ll through the menu and select Pl ay R ing Patterns.
The list of ring tones opens.
3 To hear a ring tone before you select it, select a ring tone from the
list and press Pl
ay .
Press Stop to stop the ring tone from playing.

To select a ring tone, press Ap ply .
Adjusting the contrast level of the
display
Fo llow this procedure to adjust the contrast level of the display.
Step
Action
1 From the ma in menu, select and open Di splay
The Contrast screen appears.
2 Perform one of these actions:
To decrease the contrast, press the left navigation key.
To increase the contrast, press the right navigation key.
The percentage scale on the screen shows the degree of change.
The level decreases
or increases each time you press the key
3 Stop pressing the key when you find the contrast you like.
4 Press Ok,
or press the send ke y.
The current contrastlevel is sav ed andyou r et urn to the previous
sc reen.
