Nortel Networks has developed the i2004
Internet Telephone to work with a variety of
Nortel platforms.

The design of the i2004 Internet Telephone
includes one-button access to features like
speakerphone, directory, and voicemail and
supports the unique requirements of various
users. Additional features and functionality
of the i2004 Internet Telephone include a
display screen, softkeys, and multiple line
appearances.

special keys that provide instant access to
features of the telephone set.

The i2004 Internet Telephone nBasic Operation
The i2004 Internet Telephone gives you
multiple options to make a call. Each of
these options is described in detail in your
system- specific User Guide.
Volume Control
The volume control key adjusts ringer, hand-
set, headset and speaker volumes. Press
the volume control key while your phone is
idle to adjust the ringer volume. Pressing
the volume control key while using your
handset, headset, or handsfree speaker, will
adjust the volume of the associated device.
Making a Call
Lift the HANDSET to make a call using the
primary line. Enter the phone number on the
dial pad. When your call is completed, press
GOODBYE.
The built-in display makes this phone easy
to use. The softkeys add greater versatility
and provide easy access to features that are
customized based on your telephone sys-
tem’s platform.
Making a Call with the Headset or
Handsfree
Press the HANDSFREE or HEADSET key.
Enter the phone number. When your call is
completed, press GOODBYE.
Using HOLD and MUTE
While on a call, pressing the HOLD key will
place your caller on hold. Press the LINE
key to retrieve your call.
Pressing MUTE will mute your handset or
headset and allow you to speak privately.
Press MUTE again to speak with your caller.
The appropriate LED will light when these
features are activated.
Answering a Call
Answer a ringing call by lifting the HAND-
SET, or pressing the HANDSFREE or
HEADSET keys.
If you are on another call, press the LINE
key of the incoming call. Your active call will
be placed on hold. Press GOODBYE to end
the current call, or press HOLD to place this
caller on hold. Press the appropriate LINE
key to retrieve your original call.
