1. Warnings & Precautions
Dear mother,
For babies, breastfeeding is the most natural and important nourishment there is. The NUK®Breastfeeding
Program provides you with practical and convenient aids for breastfeeding. This easy to use electric breast
pump is designed to help you and your baby whenever natural breastfeeding is not possible. Please take
the time to read these operating instructions carefully before using your NUK®Expressive®Single Electric
Breast Pump for the rst time and keep for future reference. We wish you and your baby every happiness.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS FOR THE ELECTRIC
BREAST PUMP.
When using electrical products, especially when children
are present, basic safety precautions should always be
followed. See details as follows:
DANGER: To reduce the risk of electrocution:
• Always unplug this electric breast pump immediately
after using.
• Do not use while bathing or showering.
• Do not place or store product where it can fall or be
pulled into a tub or a sink.
• Do not place in or drop pump motor unit into water or
other liquid.
• Do not reach for this electric breast pump if it has fallen
into water or other liquid. Unplug immediately.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution,
re or injury to persons:
• This electric breast pump should never be left
unattended when plugged into an electric outlet.
• Supervision is necessary when this product is in the
vicinity of children. Electric medical devices like the
NUK®Expressive®Single Electric Breast Pump may only
be used by adults.
• Use this electric breast pump only for its intended use
as described in this manual. Do not use accessory
attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
• Never operate this electric breast pump if it has a
damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if it
has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water.
• Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
• Never use this electric breast pump while sleeping or
drowsy.
• Do not use the device where products related to
aerosol spray are being used or where oxygen is being
administered.
• Never drop or insert any object into any opening or
tubing.
• Only use the voltage adapter that comes with the NUK®
Expressive®Single Electric Breast Pump or use batteries.
• Make sure the voltage of the device is compatible with
the power source.
• Breast Pumps are personal care items and are not to be
shared between mothers.
• When pump is not in use, be sure all parts of the electric
breast pump and accessories are stored safely away
from children.
2. Hygiene Tips
Hygiene is particularly important when using a breast pump. This applies to all the individual pump components as
well as to your own personal hygiene. We recommend a daily shower or to wash your nipples in clean water. When
possible, avoid using soap on your nipples, as this may cause irritation.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS ELECTRIC BREAST PUMP.

3. About this Pump
3.1 Intended Use
The NUK®Expressive®Single Electric Breast Pump is
intended to express milk from the breast by a single user.
3.2 Features
The NUK®Expressive®Single Electric Breast Pump has a
natural pulsing suction rhythm and offers the following
benets:
• Pulsing rhythm imitates your baby's natural suckling
action while breastfeeding
• Easily adjustable suction strength
• Easy cleaning and assembly due to few parts
• Soft lined universal t breast shield
• Convenient compact handheld design with voltage
adapter or battery operation
3.3 Contraindications
In the event of certain nipple problems (inammation,
open cuts) the NUK®Expressive®Single Electric Breast
Pump should not be used or only used with special care.
If you are unsure at any time whether to use the NUK®
Expressive®Single Electric Breast Pump, please consult
your medical professional.

6. Cleaning
Hygiene is of priority when handling breast milk and all
parts that come into contact with it. The pump should
therefore only be used in a clean and sanitized condition.
All accessories and parts, apart from the pump motor unit
(8), battery compartment lid (10), and voltage adaptor (7)
must be thoroughly cleaned.
NOTE: Prior to rst use, clean the NUK®Breast Milk
Container (5) and Nipple (13) by boiling in water for
5 minutes.
CAUTION: Unplug the voltage adapter (7) from the power
outlet before cleaning.
1. Disassemble the pump according to Section 5.
2. After each use, wash all parts except for the pump
motor unit (8), battery compartment lid (10) and voltage
adapter (7) either by hand or using a dishwasher.
2a. To wash by hand, wash parts using plenty of hot
water and liquid dishwashing soap, then rinse with
hot water for 10 to 15 seconds. Clean the lip valve
carefully to avoid damaging the material. Gently
squeeze the valve to open it slightly during cleaning.
Rinse thoroughly.
2b. To wash in a dishwasher, place the parts in the top
rack of the dishwasher and start the cleaning cycle.
Note that slight discoloration of the material may
occur in rare cases.
3. Wipe the pump motor unit (8) and battery
compartment lid (10) with a damp cloth. This cleaning
is sufficient because the pump motor unit (8) and
battery compartment lid (10) do not come into
immediate contact with the milk.
CAUTION: Never immerse the pump motor unit (8) or
voltage adapter (7) in water as this could damage the
electric systems.
5. Disassembly of the Pump
CAUTION: Always hold the container (5) upright when it
contains milk or the milk may spill out.
For the following please refer to "Overview of Parts".
1.
Unplug the voltage adapter (7) from the pump motor
unit (8).
2. Unscrew the milk storage container (5) from the
connection ring (3).
3. Remove the lip valve (4) from the breast shield (2).
4. Unscrew the connection ring (3) from the breast shield
(2) and pump motor unit (8).
5. Separate the breast shield (2) from the pump motor
unit (8).
6. Take the overflow protection valve (1) out of the breast
shield (2) by turning it upside down.
NOTE: Remove batteries if product is to be left unused for
an extended period of time.

NOTE: The device should not be operated without the

7b. Battery operation: Requires 3 Type AAA, 1.5 V
batteries. Insert the batteries, ensuring that they are
positioned correctly according to the + and – symbols
in the battery compartment.
NOTE:The voltage adapter will not charge the batteries.
CAUTION: Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not
mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable
(ni-cad, ni-mh, etc.) batteries.
8. Close the battery compartment (10) by inserting the
tabs of the lid into the matching slots on the pump
motor unit (8) and close the lid (10). Be sure the catch
lock engages with an audible click.
NOTE: The device should not be operated without the
battery compartment lid (10) in place.

8. Instructions for Use
Before using the pump, disassemble and clean according to the instructions in sections 5 and 6.
8.1 Operation
1. Position the breast shield (2) on your breast so that the
nipple is positioned in the center of the shield. Gently
press the breast shield (2) in order to ensure a good
seal when expressing the milk. Hold the pump in a
vertical position.
NOTE: If the pump tips over, it will turn off automatically.
2.
Turn the breast pump on. To do so, gently turn the knob
(9) clockwise. The pump is on once you hear a click.
3.
Now you can adjust the suction strength by turning the
knob (9) even more clockwise. You can turn the knob
counterclockwise at any time in order to reduce the
suction strength. If you feel pain for any reason, stop
pumping, using either the controls on the pump or by
inserting a finger between the shield and breast to
break the suction.
CAUTION: In order not to damage the pump, you should
be sure that the expressed milk collected in the container
(5) does not contact the lip valve (4).

To switch off the pump, turn the knob (9)
counterclockwise to the very end. The pump turns off
once you hear a click.
5.
After expressing, place the breast pump in the stand
(6) for stability. The pump must not be allowed to topple
over as milk might leak from the container (5).
6.
Unscrew the NUK®Breast Milk Container (5) from the
connection ring (3) and pump motor unit (8). Be sure to
keep the container vertical.
Correct expressing needs practice. You should rst
become accustomed to your new pump. If you continue
to experience difculty nursing, contact your medical
professional.
8.2 Frequency of Expressing
The frequency of expressing depends on your individual
situation. If you will be apart from your baby and/or want
to sustain milk production, the natural breastfeeding
rhythm should be maintained. You should therefore
express 6 to 8 times daily, including once during the night.
In all other cases you should express entirely to suit your
own individual needs.
8.3 Procedure
Express milk from each breast in turn. This electric breast
pump has a pulsing suction rhythm that imitates your
baby's natural sucking action while breastfeeding.
• Alternate between breasts when the milk flow slows
down or ceases.
• The amount of time needed to express milk will vary
considerably from one person to another.
The following intervals have proven effective, but times
may vary according to the individual:
• right 5 – 7 minutes, left 5 – 7 minutes;
• right 3 – 5 minutes, left 3 – 5 minutes;
• right 2 – 3 minutes, left 2 – 3 minutes.
8.4 Milk Quantity
Do not be surprised if it takes a little longer at rst before
the milk really starts to ow. This is not unusual, in fact it
is perfectly normal, because in general, milk production
adapts to daily requirements. This means that the quantity
of milk produced may vary considerably.
• Be sure to drink enough fluids to stimulate milk
production.
• Do not set the suction strength too high. Higher suction
strength does not cause a larger amount of milk.
8.5 Let-Down Reex
During natural breastfeeding, placing the baby on the
breast stimulates the let-down reex and the milk begins
to ow. You can further stimulate if you:
• Find a quiet place where you can be fully relaxed as you
express the milk.
• Adopt a comfortable and relaxed sitting position.
• Place a warm compress on your breast for a few
minutes to relax the tissue before expressing.
• It may be helpful to have eye contact with your baby. If
that is not possible, try to look at a photo of your baby.
• The let-down reflex releases the flow of milk to both
breasts simultaneously.

CAUTION: Only the NUK®Breast Milk Container with
the collar (12) and seal disk (14) should be stored in
the refrigerator, not the entire NUK®Expressive®Single
Electric Breast Pump.
9.1 NUK®Breast Milk Container
The breast milk may be chilled or frozen and thawed
out in a sealed breast milk container (5). The breast
milk container (5) may also be used for re-heating and
feeding. Please always observe the information below on
handling breast milk.
NOTE: When freezing breast milk, do not ll the container
(5) with more than 5 . oz as breast milk expands as it
freezes and the container (5) may burst.
9.2 Tips for Handling Breast Milk
NUK®Seal ‘n Go®Milk Bags and Breast Milk Containers
(sold with any NUK®breast pump) are safe for storage in
the refrigerator or freezer.
• Once the container has been opened, the maximum
storage time is 12 hours at 39°F (4°C).
• The milk may be thawed out in the container either in
the refrigerator, or, if required immediately, by standing
in warm water.
• If desired, warm the milk to body temperature by
placing it in a NUK®Bottle Warmer, or in a container of
heated water. Always check temperature of the milk on
your wrist before feeding baby.
Caution: Breast milk must not be thawed out in a
microwave as this will destroy valuable nutrients as well
as cause possible damage to the container material,
which may cause the risk of explosion. Uneven heating
may also result in scalding!
• The milk should therefore be shaken gently before
feeding to ensure that milk and milk fats are well mixed
and that the warm breast milk is evenly distributed.
• Defrosted, re-heated or unused milk must be disposed
of and not refrozen.
• If you express breast milk more than once within a
period of 24 hours, the freshly expressed milk may
be added to the previously cooled breast milk under
the following conditions: The temperatures must be
the same (cold on cold). Freshly expressed milk must
therefore be cooled first before being added to milk
that is already cool.
• Consult your medical professional for more detailed
information about storage.
STORAGE GUIDELINES FOR THAWED BREAST MILK1

9. Storing & Feeding Milk
If the breast milk is not to be used immediately, you can seal the lled container (5) with the collar (12) and seal disk
(14) as shown in section 4 (15b) or pour from the container (5) into a NUK®Seal ‘n Go®Breast Milk Bag. Store it in the
refrigerator. Use an erasable marker to write the date and time of expressing on the container (5).
Follow the below guidelines for safe storage of breast milk to ensure freshness.

10. Troubleshooting

For battery operation check that the
batteries are correctly inserted.
For voltage adapter (7) operation check that the plug is correctly
inserted or try using a different power outlet.

Hold the pump upright. If the pump is held at too great an angle it will
switch off automatically.

9.3 Feeding Expressed Milk with NUK®Breast
Milk Container
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS FOR THE BREAST
MILK CONTAINER & NIPPLE
WARNING: For safety and health reasons please note
the following:
• Prolonged periods of time drinking liquids, other than
water, may cause tooth decay.
• To prevent possible choking hazard, test strength
before each use by pulling the nipple in all directions.
Any tear can lead to the separation of pieces.
Discontinue use if any tear or crack appears. Do not
attempt to enlarge the hole as this may lead to tearing.
CAUTION:
• Do not overheat. Always test temperature of liquid on
wrist before feeding baby.
• Do not microwave, since this can cause uneven
heating.
• Always supervise baby when feeding.To avoid injury, do
not allow a child to walk or run with a bottle.
CARE:
• Disassemble before cleaning. Prior to first use, sanitize
by boiling in water for 5 minutes.
• For day to day cleaning, wash with hot water and mild
detergent then rinse clean. Dishwasher-safe (top rack).
Allow to dry before storage.
• To heat, use a NUK®Bottle Warmer or place the bottle
under hot running water or in a container of heated
water.
• For hygiene and safety, replace with appropriate NUK®
Nipples after about 2 months of use.
1. Apply the supplied nipple (13) onto the breast milk
container (5) with the supplied container collar (12). The
NUK®Breast Milk Container can be used with all NUK®
Wide-Neck Nipples.
2. The NUK®Air System vents the bottle, preventing

3.1 Uso indicado
El extractor de leche eléctrico individual NUK®Expressive®
está diseñado para extraer la leche del seno de una
madre solamente.
3.2 Características
El extractor de leche eléctrico individual NUK®Expressive®

6. Limpieza
La higiene debe ser una prioridad al manipular leche
materna y todas las piezas que entran en contacto con
ella. Por lo tanto, el extractor sólo debe utilizarse si está
limpio y esterilizado. Todas las piezas y accesorios,
excepto la unidad de extracción (8), la tapa del
compartimiento de baterías (10) y el adaptador de
tensión (7) deben limpiarse cuidadosamente.
NOTA: Antes de utilizar por primera vez el Recipiente
para leche materna (5) y la Tetina (13) NUK®hiérvalos
en agua durante 5 minutos.
PRECAUCIÓN: Desconecte el adaptador de tensión (7) del
tomacorriente antes de la limpieza.
1. Desarme el extractor según las indicaciones de la
Sección 5.
2. Después de cada uso, limpie todas las piezas excepto
la unidad de extracción (8), la tapa del compartimiento
de baterías (10) y el adaptador de tensión (7) ya sea
de forma manual o utilizando un lavaplatos.
2a.
Para lavar a mano, lave todas las piezas
conabundante agua caliente y detergente líquido:
lnego, enjuague con agua caliente durantee 10 a 15
segundos. Limpie la válvula de pico cuidadosamente
para evitar dañar el material. Apriete suavemente
la válvula para abrirla un poco durante la impieza.
Enjuague exhaustivamente.
2b
. Para lavar en un lavaplatos, coloque las piezas en
el
estante superior del lavaplatos e inicie el ciclo de
limpieza. Observe que puede producirse una ligera
decoloración del material en raras ocasiones.
3.
Limpie la unidad de extracción (8) y la tapa del
compartimiento de baterías (10) con un paño
húmedo. Esta limpieza es suficiente porque la unidad
de extracción (8) y la tapa del compartimiento de
baterías (10) no entran en contacto inmediato con
la leche.
PRECAUCIÓN: Nunca sumerja la unidad de extracción (8)
ni el adaptador de tensión (7) en agua ya que esto podría
dañar los sistemas eléctricos.
5. Desarmado del extractor
PRECAUCIÓN: Siempre sostenga el recipiente (5) en
posición vertical cuando contenga leche, de lo contrario
se puede derramar. Para lo siguiente consulte
"Descripción general de las piezas".
1. Desconecte el adaptador de tensión (7) de la unidad
de extracción (8).
2. Desenrosque el recipiente de almacenamiento de
leche (5) del aro de conexión (3).
3. Retire la válvula de pico (4) del escudo del seno (2).
4. Seno (2) y de la unidad de extracción (8).
5. Separe el escudo del seno (2) de la unidad de
extracción (8).
6. Retire la válvula de protección contra derrames (1) del
escudo del seno (2) poniéndolo boca abajo.
NOTA: Retire las baterías si el producto no se utilizará
durante un período de tiempo prolongado.
7. Armado del extractor
Antes de usar el extractor, desármelo y límpielo según las instrucciones de las secciones 5 y 6.

7b. Operación a batería: Requiere 3 baterías tipo AAA,
de 1.5V. Inserte las baterías, asegurándose de que
estén en la posición correcta de acuerdo con los
símbolos + y – del compartimiento de baterías.
NOTA:
El adaptador de tensión no cargará las baterías.
PRECAUCIÓN: No mezcle baterías viejas y nuevas. No
mezcle baterías alcalinas, estándar (carbón-zinc) o
recargables (níquel-cadmio, níquel-hidruro metálico, etc.).
8. Cierre el compartimiento de baterías (10) con la tapa
azul insertando las solapas de la tapa en las ranuras
correspondientes de la unidad de extracción (8) y
cierre la tapa (10). Asegúrese de que el retén se ajuste
con un clic audible.
NOTA:
El aparato no debe utilizarse sin la tapa del

8. Instrucciones de uso
Antes de usar el extractor, desármelo y límpielo según las instrucciones de las secciones 5 y 6.
8.1 Operación
1.
Coloque el escudo sobre el seno (2) sobre su seno
de modo que el pezón esté posicionado en el centro
del escudo. Presione suavemente el escudo del seno
(2) para asegurar un buen contacto cuando extrae la
leche. Sostenga el extractor en posición vertical.
NOTA: Si el extractor se cae, se apagará
automáticamente.
2.
Encienda el extractor de leche. Para hacerlo, gire
suavemente la manija (9) en el sentido de las agujas
del reloj. El extractor está encendido cuando escuche
un clic.
3.
Ahora puede ajustar la intensidad de succión haciendo
girar la manija (9) en el sentido de las agujas del reloj
aún más. Puede hacer girar la manija en el sentido
contrario al de las agujas del reloj en cualquier
momento para reducir la intensidad de succión. Si
por algún motivo siente dolor, detenga la extracción,
utilizando los controles del extractor o insertando un
dedo entre el escudo y el seno para interrumpir la
succión.
PRECAUCIÓN: Para no dañar el extractor, debe
asegurarse de que la leche extraída recolectada en el
recipiente (5) no esté en contacto con la válvula de
pico (4).
4. Para apagar el extractor haga girar la manija (9) en
el sentido contrario al de las agujas del reloj hasta el
final. El extractor se apagará cuando escuche un clic.
5.
Después de extraer la leche, coloque el extractor en el
soporte (6) para mantener la estabilidad. El extractor
no debe inclinarse porque la leche puede filtrarse del
recipiente (5).

Desenrosque el recipiente para leche materna NUK
®
(5) del aro de conexión (3) y de la unidad de extracción
(8). Asegúrese de mantener el recipiente en posición
vertical.
Extraer leche correctamente requiere práctica. Primero
debe acostumbrarse a su nuevo extractor. Si continúa
experimentando dicultades para amamantar,
comuníquese con su médico.
8.2 Frecuencia de la extracción
La frecuencia de extracción depende de su situación
individual. Si debe alejarse de su bebé y/o desea
sostener la producción de leche, se debe mantener el
ritmo de lactancia natural. Por lo tanto, extraiga leche
entre 6 y 8 veces por día, incluyendo una vez durante
la noche. En los demás casos, debe extraer leche para
adaptarse a sus necesidades especícas.
8.3 Procedimiento
Extraiga leche de un pecho por vez. Este extractor de
leche eléctrico tiene un ritmo de succión uniforme que
imita la succión natural de su bebé durante la lactancia.
• Alterne entre los pechos cuando el flujo de leche se
vuelve más lento o se detiene.
• La cantidad de tiempo necesario para extraer la leche
variará considerablemente según la persona.
Los siguientes intervalos resultaron efectivos pero los
tiempos pueden variar según cada mujer:
• derecho 5 - 7 minutos, izquierdo 5 - 7 minutos;
• derecho 3 - 5 minutos, izquierdo 3 - 5 minutos;
• derecho 2 - 3 minutos, izquierdo 2 - 3 minutos.
8.4 Cantidad de leche
No se sorprenda si al principio demora más tiempo antes
de que la leche comience a uir. Esto no es inusual, de
hecho es totalmente normal, porque en general: la
producción de leche se adapta a los requerimientos
diarios. Esto signica que la cantidad de leche producida
puede variar considerablemente.
• Asegúrese de beber suficiente cantidad de líquido para
estimular la producción de leche.
• No ajuste la intensidad de succión demasiado alta. Una
mayor intensidad de succión no produce una mayor
cantidad de leche.
8.5 Reejo de producción de la leche
Durante la lactancia natural, colocar al bebé en el pecho
estimula el reejo de producción de leche y la leche
comienza a uir. Puede estimular aún más si:
• Busque un lugar tranquilo en el que pueda relajarse
totalmente mientras se extrae la leche.
• Adopte una postura sentada cómoda y relajada.
• Coloque una compresa tibia (por ejemplo, Cojines de
gel fríos o calientes NUK®) sobre el seno durante unos
minutos para relajar el tejido antes de extraer la leche.
• Puede resultar útil tener contacto visual con su bebé.
Si eso no es posible, trate de observar una fotografía
de su bebé.
• El reflejo de producción de leche libera el flujo de leche
hacia ambos pechos simultáneamente.

9. Almacenamiento y alimentación de la leche
Si la leche no se usa inmediatamente, puede cerrar el recipiente lleno (5) con la corona (12) y el disco sellador (14) como
se muestra en la sección 4 (15b) o vierta el recipiente (5) en una bolsa para leche materna NUK®Seal ‘n Go®. Almacénela
en el refrigerador. Use un marcador deleble para escribir la fecha y hora de extracción en el recipiente (5).
Precaución: Solo el Recipiente para leche materna con la
corona (12) y el disco sellador (14) se deben almacenar en
el refrigerador y no el Extractor de leche eléctrico individual
NUK®Expressive®completo.
9.1 Recipiente para leche materna NUK®
La leche materna puede enfriarse o congelarse y
descongelarse en un recipiente de leche materna sellado
(5). El recipiente para leche materna (5) también puede
usarse para recalentar y alimentar. Siempre consulte la
siguiente información sobre manipulación de la leche
materna.
NOTA: Cuando congele leche materna, no llene el
recipiente (5) con más de 5 onzas líquidas dado que la
leche materna (5) se expande cuando se congela y el
recipiente puede romperse.
9.2 Consejos para manipular la leche materna
Las bolsas para leche Seal n’ Go®y los envases para leche
materna de NUK®(se venden con cualquier extractor
de leche de NUK®) son aptos para conservarse en el
refrigerador o en el congelador. Siga las pautas indicadas
a continuación para lograr una conservación segura de la
leche materna y garantizar la frescura.
• Una vez que se abrió el envase, el tiempo máximo de
conservación es de 12horas a 4°C (39°F).
• La leche puede descongelarse en el envase, ya sea
dejando el envase en el refrigerador o, si se necesita de
inmediato, colocándolo en agua tibia.
• Si lo desea, entibie la leche a temperatura corporal
colocándola en un calentador de biberón de NUK®o
en un envase con agua calentada. Siempre verifique la
temperatura de la leche en la muñeca antes de alimentar
al bebé.
Precaución: La leche materna no debe descongelarse en
un horno de microondas, ya que esto destruirá valiosos
nutrientes y es posible que produzca daños en el material
del envase, lo que podría generar un riesgo de explosión.
¡Un calentamiento desparejo también puede generar un
riesgo de quemaduras!
• Por lo tanto, la leche se debe agitar suavemente antes de
alimentar al bebé para asegurarse de que la leche y las
grasas de la leche se mezclen bien y que la leche materna
tibia se distribuya de manera uniforme.
• La leche descongelada, recalentada o sin usar se debe
desechar y no volver a congelarse.
• Si se extrae leche materna más de una vez dentro de
un período de 24horas, la leche recién extraída puede
agregarse a la leche materna que ya se encuentra
refrigerada en las siguientes condiciones: Las temperaturas
deben ser las mismas (frío sobre frío). Por lo tanto, primero
se debe enfriar la leche recién extraída antes de agregarla
a la leche que ya está refrigerada.
