1 Product Overview
The RG-S6580-24DC8QC switch is a next generation, data-center-oriented and high-density 200G/400G core switch,
providing 400G/200G access, low latency, and complete data center features. The RG-S6580-24DC8QC switch can be
usedwith RG-S6980-64QC series switchestocomposea high-performanceandhigh-reliabilitydata center network.

1.1.2 Product Appearance
The hardware of the S6580-24DC8QC includes the chassis,thepowersupplysystem and the heat dissipationsystem.
The power supplysystem: Provides two power supply module slots,which support 1+1 power supplyredundancy.
You are advised to configurepowersupplyredundancy.
The heat dissipationsystem:Provides sixfan module slots,whichsupport5+1 fan redundancy. You are advised to
configureallfans to realize redundancy.

1.1.3 External Ports
The RG-S6580-24DC8QC provides thefollowingfive external ports:
Universalserialbus (USB)port:This port canconnect withUSB memoryto save logs,hostversions, warnings,and
other diagnosticmessages.Therefore,it is moreconvenientto upgradethesoftware versionof the switchonline
andsave the loginformation.
To protect the data and avoid device damage,usequalifiedUSBflashdisks of good brands.At the sametime,the
localUSB portis compatible withmostofthe USB controllers exceptsomeUSBflashdisks.
The RG-S6580-24DC8QCswitchsupports debugging,configuration,maintenance,managementand hostsoftware
uploadingofConsoleports.
Console port:UseRS-232interfaceelectricallevel andstandardRJ45connector.This interfaceis connectedwith
the serialportof terminalPC to perform system debugging,configuration,maintenance,management,and host
softwareuploading.
MGMT port:This is an out-bandEthernetport, whichuses standard RJ45connector.This interface is connected
with Ethernetport of a PC to perform program downloading.
QSFP56 port: Thereare 24 200G QSFP56 ports,whichsupportopticalmodulesand DAC copper cables.
QSFP-DD port: There are eight400G QSFP-DD ports,whichsupportopticalmodulesandDACcoppercables.
1.1.4 LEDs
The LEDs on the front panelinclude:an SYS LED, a BMC LED, a PWR LED and two port LEDs. The LEDs on the back
panelinclude:an MGMT ACT LED, an MGMT LINK LED,a FAN LEDand a PWR LED.

1.1.5 PowerSupply
The powersupplymodules ofthe RG-S6580-24DC8QCaresmartpowersupplymodules,whichsupportpower

supports hotswapping.

The RG-S6580-24DC8QC switch supports 1+1 power supplyredundancy.To improve the stabilityand reliabilityof
the entiresystem,itis recommended toconfigure1+1 powersupplyredundancy.Whenthe twopowersupplymodules
work normally,the switch is inthe status of current sharing.
It requires at leastone power supplymodule to work normally. Filler panels need to be installedin the unoccupied
powersupplymoduleslots toensureventilationandheatdissipationandavoiddusts.
1.1.6 Heat Dissipation
The workingtemperatureofthe RG-S6580-24DC8QC switchis 0°Cto40°C, or 32°Fto 104°F, and the operating altitude
is 0 to 1800m. Heat dissipationdesignneeds toensurethestability,safety, and maintainabilityinsuch environment.The
RG-S6580-24DC8QCswitch adopts fanventilationandforcedconvection to ensurethedevice can work normallyin
specifiedenvironment.Dustthe device every three months toavoid blockingtheventilation openings.
The RG-S6580-24DC8QC supports M1HFAN II-F andprovides fan speedregulation,fanfailurewarning,andfan hot
swapping.
The RG-S6580-24DC8QC adopts afront-to-backairflowdesignforheatdissipation.
Maintain a minimum clearanceof20cm (7.87in.) aroundthe switch for ventilation.
It requires atleastfive fan modules to worknormally.Fillerpanels needtobe installed in the unoccupied fanmodule
slots toensure ventilation and heat dissipation and avoid dusts.
You areadvisedto installsixfans andusefillerpanels onlywhen you replace fans.
Do not use powersupplymodulesandfanmodules withdifferentairflow directions together.
1.2 Modules
The RG-S6580-24DC8QC switch supports the following modules: M1HFAN II-F (fan module), RG-PA1200I-F (power
supplymodule).
1.2.1 M1HFAN II-F
The M1HFAN II-F is the fan module of the RG-S6580-24DC8QC switch. The M1HFAN II-F module provides a cooling
mechanism forthewholesystem.The M1HFAN II-F supports fanspeed control,failurealarming,andhotswapping.

1.2.2 RG-PA1200I-F
The RG-PA1200I-F module is the power supplymodule ofthe RG-S6980-64QC switch. The smart RG-PA1200I-F can
obtainthe power status,outputpower, output currentand operating temperature in realtime.The RG-PA1200I-F module
supports both AC andHVDC input.
