06 1. Preparation.
1.1 Delivery
On receiving the product, please check it for completeness, lack of faults
and check it for any transport damage. Inspect the goods in the presence
of your forwarder Should transport damage have occurred, please arrange
for an inventory (determination of the faults) to be made in the presence of
the forwarder. Please send a complaint in writing to the specialist dealer
responsible.
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
Correct usage of the subframe requires precise and careful training of the
accompanying person. We ask you to read through the Instructions for use
carefully prior to initial commissioning of the subframe, and to observe them.
Cushioned parts may become warm when exposed to direct sunlight. Cover
these parts or protect the equipment from direct sunlight.
1.3 Safe disposal
In order to preserve and protect the environment, to prevent environmental
pollution, and to improve the recycling of raw materials, please note the
disposal instructions in points 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
1.3.1 Packaging
The product packaging should be stored in case the product needs to be
transported again. Should you have to return the product for repairs or in
case of a guarantee laim, please if possible use the original box so that
the product is optimally packaged. Separate the packaging materials for
recycling according to their classification. Do not leave packaging materials
unattended, as they are a possible source of danger.
1.3.2 Product
Separate the raw materials used in the product for recycling according to
their classification (see material information under 2.1).
1.4 Where to store the Instructions for use
Please store these Instructions for use carefully and ensure that these
Instructions for use remain with the product in case of re-use.

2.1 Material information
The sub-frame is made of steel which is non-corroding and powder-
coated.
2.2 Handling / transport
The sub-frame is not designed to be carried, as it is fitted with castors.
Should you have to carry the equipment due to obstacles, ensure that all
moving parts are tightened. Then position yourself next to the sub-frame,
grip it on both sides under the support head and carry it to the required
location. To transport the sub-frame, reduce all adjustments to their most
compact size (fold up foot bench, set lowest seat height etc.)
Tighten all moving parts prior to carrying!
2.3 Application areas, use according
to the intended purpose
Indications
The universal seat pan sub-frame franka. has been designed to carry a
seat pan for children and teenagers.
Contraindications
In general, the indications for provision of a seat pan sub-frame in
connection with a seat pan should be approved by a doctor or
orthopedist. It should therefore be clarified prior to procurement whether
contraindications exist for the patient. In general, any type of pain
represents a contraindication.

2.7 Product overview
The Fig. below is intended to show you the designation of the most import-
ant components as well as the terms which you will find in these Instructions
for use.

Settings and adjustments to the product or accessories may only be made
by people who have been given the necessary instructions by a medical
product advisor. Please ensure that none of the user‘s extremities are in the
respective area when making adjustments of any kind to minimise the risk
of injury.
3.1 Locking / unlocking the castors
The sub-frame should always be pre-
vented from rolling away inadvertently
by locking the 2 rear castors (A). To do
this, press the locking device (A) down
with your foot. To release the locking
device (A) again, push it upwards.
3.2 Seat height
The seat height is adjusted using a
gas pressure spring. In order to ad-
just the seat height upwards, the foot
pedal (B) on the base frame is actua-
ted. By pressing it lightly, the seat unit
slides upwards. Lowering is achieved
through pressure from above onto the
seat whilst at the same time operating
the foot pedal. The gas pressure spring
serves merely to assist with adjustment
of the height. The foot pedal can be
secured against inadvertent operation
with the spring pin (C) (located on the inside of the foot pedal). To do this,
turn the spring pin until it engages. If necessary, assist engagement by mo-
ving the foot pedal gently. The locking eect is cancelled by pulling out the
spring pin and turning it a quarter turn.

3.3 Hydraulic seat height adjustment
The seat height of the FRANKA sub-fra-
me can optionally be adjusted through
hydraulic support. This is operated with
the foot: To move the frame upwards,
press the pedal gently enough times on
the pedal (A) until the seat pan support
has reached the required position. To
lower, place your foot under the pedal
(A) and press upwards.
3.4 Electric seat height adjustment
The seat height of the FRANKA subfra-
me can optionally be adjusted through
electrical support. This is controlled by
the remote control (B). Press the down
arrow to adjust the seat height down-
wards and the up arrow to adjust the
seat height upwards.
3.4 Elektrische Sitzhöhenverstellung
Die Sitzhöhe des franka. Untergestells
kann optional mittels elektrischer Un-
terstützung in der Höhe verstellt wer-
den. Diese wird mit der vorhandenen
Fernbedienung (B) bedient. Drücken Sie die Pfeiltaste nach unten, um die
Sitzhöhe nach unten zu verstellen und nach oben, um die Sitzhöhe nach
oben zu verstellen.
Ensure that, during adjustment of the seat height, no body parts (feet) are
trapped in the area of the adjustment mechanism in order to avoid inju-
ries.
In the case of problems with the control unit, please contact a specialist
dealer so that it can possibly be sent to our factory. As soon as the housing
is opened, the Linak sticker (C) is also damaged and the two-year warranty
is automatically extinguished.

3.5 Seat angle
In order to adjust the angle of the seat
pan, the hand trigger (A) on the seat
pan support is pulled upwards. The
seat pan can now be adjusted through
the application of pressure into an ac-
tive or passive position.
It is optionally possible to mount the
release handle (B) for the seat angle
adjustment on the push bar / handle
or on the back of the seat pan if used
later.
3.6 Back angle adjustment
The backrest angle can be adjusted
via an optional push bar (C) / push
handle (D). To do this, simply loosen the
clamping lever (E), bring the push bar /
push handle into the required position
and then pull the clamping lever tight
once more.
3.7 Foot bench
There are dierent foot bench variants
available for the fridolin. sub-frame,
which can be fixed to the support head.
Depending on the respective version,
these feature height, knee angle and
foot angle adjustment, To install, insert
the square tube (F) into the adaptors
provided (G), adjust the required depth
and tighten the grub screws under the
supports (G) firmly. Now the knee angle
can be adjusted with the aid of the two
clamping levers (H).

3.8 Adaptation of seat pans
franka. is prepared to carry a seat unit / seat
pan. The seat adapter represents the connec-
tion point.
Seat pan adapter, standard:
Insertion of the seat adapter into the seat pan
support:
1. Insert the adapter into the rear tube of the
seat pan support.
2.Fold the adapter down to the front tube. The lock will engage
automatically.
3.When removing the seat pan, first untwist the knurled screw on the
adapter, and then pull on the knob to release the connection between
the adapter and the seat pan support. Tilt the pan slightly and remove
it.
Seat pan adapter, trapezoidal shape:
Place the seat pan with the trapezoidal sha-
ped mounted adapter piece on the trapezoi-
dal shaped seat pan support plate and push
back. Here the patented closure engages au-
tomatically. Now tighten the knurled knob (A)
of the patented closure. When removing the
seat pan, first untwist the knurled knob (A),
and then pull it down to release the connec-
tion between the adapter and the seat pan
support. The pan can now be pulled away to
the front.
3.9 Anti-tip mechanism
The anti-tip mechanism is adjustable in
height. To adjust the height, open the lever (B),
position the anti-tip mechanism to the requi-
red height and close the lever once more.
3.10 Wheel base extension
The wheel base extension cannot be adjusted! It is used purely to keep the
product steady, in particular with large seat pans and extremely tilted seat
angles.
The wheel base extension is not adjustable!

3.11 Handling push handle / bar
The push handle can be adjusted in height
and angle. In order to adjust the height, loosen
both clamping levers (A), bring the push hand-
le into the required position and pull the clam-
ping lever tight once more. In order to adjust
the angle, please loosen the two clamping le-
vers (B), move the push handle to the required
angle and pull the clamping lever tight once
more. The push bar can be adjusted in angle
by loosening the two levers (C) at the appro-
priate points.
Only use the push handle to push the sub-fra-
me! Do not hang objects onto the push handle! Increased risk of tipping!
3.12 Conversion kit for combination subframe
When retrofitting the franka. to the combinati-
on sub-frame, the plastic castors are replaced
through 6“ pneumatic tyres with castor forks
and 12 ½“ pneumatic drum brake wheels. The
drum brakes work independent of air pressure.
They are integrated into the wheel hubs and
cannot be accessed. They provide the com-
panion to the user the possibility of assisting
with the braking action (in particular when dri-
ving down hills) and of locking the sub-frame.
This is conducted through the two brake levers
(C) which are mounted onto the push handle.
The drum brakes are set by turning the setting
screws in or out. They are located at the lower
end of the brake cable in the brake saddle. Le-
ave this work to your specialist dealer in case of
any uncertainty.
The conversion kit can only be used with a
pushandle.
Handling the wheels on the combination sub-frame
The following are general rules:
High air pressure: Lower rolling resistance / less suspension comfort
Low air pressure: Higher rolling resistance / more suspension comfort

15 4. Repairs and cleaning.
4.1 Cleaning
Please clean all frame elements regularly with a sponge or damp cloth; ma-
king sure that water droplets are removed. Please clean with a mild house-
hold detergent for severer dirt. It is important to thoroughly dry the seat pan
sub-frame after cleaning. Please also pay attention to our general cleaning
and hygiene advice. You can find them at www.schuchmann.de/franka.
4.3 Repairs
Please carry out a daily visual inspection and check the seat pan sub-frame
regularly for cracks, breaks, missing parts and malfunctions. In case of a de-
fect or malfunction, please contact the specialist dealer who supplied you
with the product (see point 7.5).
4.2 Instandhaltung
Should you wish to order spare parts, please contact the specialist dealer
who supplied you with the product, stating the serial number of the seat pan
sub-frame (see point 7.5). Necessary spare parts and accessories must only
be installed by trained personnel.
4.4 Duration of use and re-use
The expected duration of use of our product, dependent on the usage in-
tensity and amount of re-use, totals up to „8“ years, if the usage takes place
in accordance with the information in these instructions for use. It may be
possible to use the product over and above this time period if it is in a safe
condition. The expected duration of use does not refer to wear parts, such
as for example covers, wheels, batteries..... The maintenance and evaluation
of the condition, and if applicable the potential for re-use, must be decided
by the specialist trader. The sub-frame is suitable for re-use. Prior to forwar-
ding on, please follow the cleaning instructions in point 4.1. Accompanying
documents such as these Instructions for use are part of the product and
must be passed on to the new user. No disassembly is required prior to re-
use. In the case of storage, it is recommended to fold the product to the
smallest dimension to save space.

17 6. Guarantee.
The two-year statutory guarantee period shall apply for all products. This
guarantee period shall begin with the delivery or handover of the goods.
Should a verifiable material or manufacturing fault occur within this time pe-
riod, we shall, after carriage paid return to us, view the indicated damage
and, if applicable, either repair or deliver a new product at our discretion.
